Think Progress Lauds Pope [Dan Collins]

for stance on immigration. Think Progress on search terms Pope + abortion.

I guess the Pope is only infallible when he agrees with Think Progress.

You’d be paranoid about buggery, too, if you were such an ass.

  1. Education Guy says:

The Popes position on immigration is hardly surprising. The Bible is clear on how the strangers amongst us are to be treated.

  2. Dan Collins says:

It also says render unto Caesar. I don’t see the paid under the table exception.

  3. JD says:

The Pope is infallible when his statements tend to concur with the leftist talking points. When he disagrees, he is a fascist racist sexist Nazi godbotherer.

  4. Education Guy says:

Yes Dan, but that was written during Gods nice phase.

  5. Rob O'Connor says:

Send them to Vatican City and see if he feels the same ways!

  6. David R. Block says:

    JD nailed it.

  7. JD says:

I refuse to clink on a link to thinkprogress, but why do I suspect that they have completely bastardized the Pope’s statements on this issue?

  8. Rob Crawford says:

why do I suspect that they have completely bastardized the Pope’s statements on this issue?

    Experience?

  9. JD says:

Rob C – My guess is that they did like the MSM, conflating his calls for reaching out, helping the unfortunate, etc … and bastardized it to mean that the Pope said the US should not be able to regulate our own borders, or some other such nonsense. It is what they do.

  10. Rob Crawford says:

Heh. According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “Greenhouse Pig Calculator”, I should have died when I was 30 months old.

  11. MayBee says:

This is why I don’t pay attention to leftists who say people can’t base their political opinions (or their vote) on religion.
They always mean they just can’t base opinions they don’t agree with on religion.

  12. Rob Crawford says:

Damn… forgot the link and already closed that tab. Oh, well. It’s on Hot Air. GOOGLE IT, PEOPLE!!!

  13. Rob O'Connor says:

JD, it’s fine in theory, especially if you live in a gated-community(like the Vatican). But, the people who live in the communities overrun by illegal immigrants have to deal with the impact on their hospital emergency rooms, schools, infrastructure, etc. There’s little compassion for those most affected by an open border policy, mostly lower-income areas. Unlimited illegal immigration is national suicide, and then what? *Crickets*

  14. JD says:

Rob O – I suspect that the Pope’s actual position does not include the US abrogating their rights to control their own borders, despite thinkprogress proclaiming something to that effect.

  15. Rob O'Connor says:

JD, I’d like to agree with you, but I’ve had to confront the priest in my own church(Prince of Peace) regarding this subject. It seems that asking Mexico to help their own poor with all their natural resources is too unchristian-like, even at the expense of our own poor.

  16. Dan Collins says:

    JD–
I think the Pope pretty much does want us to liberalize our immigration policy. He probably figures that the Western hemisphere represents Christianity’s citadel, and the immigrants are more largely committed Christians, and Catholics to boot, than the US population at large.

  17. syn says:

Geez I would be very sad to learn that the Pope is okay with the illegal slave trading going on since this is the opposite of what God says about human freedom.

Seriously, if our government says that our country needs workers why then are they forcing human beings to go underground in order to work in America? McCain’s ‘we’re all God’s children’ does not make much sense when God’s children are prevented from entering the country legally. We have a legal immigration system which works quite well when it is upheld unfortunately the slave traders cannot profit if they have to work in a free market environment so they encourage human beings to enter illegally to work as slaves.

That said; I suppose having slaves helps the Pope fill his pews so ghe can have a reason to get those Golden Entitlement coins.

Sorry Catholics in the room however as an outside observer I cannot accept the concept that human slave trading is good for God’s children. It’s as confusing as Methodist ministers endorsing politicans who vote to continue the practice of sucking out a baby’s brain; I cannot accept that God would be so evil.

I cannot accept that God would be so evil.

    Yeah! WTF!

  19. Dan Collins says:

Syn, you’re not under the impression that we have to agree with the Bishop of Rome about everything, are you?

  20. Rick Ballard says:

    Dan,

Only insofar as his making it a mortal sin to vote for anyone with a progressive taint. Even then you don’t have to agree, just follow Garibaldi’s lead and make Obedisco! your word of the day.

  21. Rob O'Connor says:

I agree Syn, the Pope and the Catholic church, have a very myopic view when it comes to helping people. Unintended consequence is the byproduct of good and evil. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” is apropos.

One thing’s for sure, I am not taking the pope’s advice about hats.

The only thing that would make that Climate Tour story better is if Poley-bears hopped on, and ate all their pretzels. Like a big crowd of forty polar bears.

  23. SarahW says:

Polar bear #36: Pardon me, but do you happen to have any tzasiki?

Climate Tourist #22 #21#20#12: But of CourYEaAARRRRRHhh blug blug blub!

  24. Rob Crawford says:

Only insofar as his making it a mortal sin to vote for anyone with a progressive taint.

I think there’s a surgical procedure to repair a progressive taint.
