Obama wins endorsement of government employees union

Along with creating millions upon millions of green jobs, he’ll help promote this growing and increasingly important sector of the economy.

A government employees union endorsing candidates, to me, smacks of a conflict of interests.

    Couldn’t agree more, bb.

‘creating millions upon millions of green jobs’

Like hiring 100,000 eco-stazis to go through our trash finding out who is naughty and who is nice?
All the tenants in my building received a notice from the Eco-Nannyists in here in NYC about a month ago telling us that ‘some tenants have been throwing paper away, gasp!’. Now, the only way for the Eco-Nannyists to know this is by going through people trash.

Yeah, only in New York-the Big Apple, where Enlightened Proggs consumed with hysterical hypochrondria willing to dig through people trash to find out if paper is not being recycled.

Seriously, I don’t believe Leftist realize that their mental illness disease is for real not something they fantasize every time their hypochrondia overwhelms them.

The Left, do they not see how creepy freaky they are?

That would require the ability for self-reflection. They have demonstrated on more than one occasion that they lack this ability.

That would require self-reflection, self-irony, and an ever-so slightly less than manic belief in whatever they’ve been told to think is important this year.

    So, no.

  6. Puck says:

    So:

Eco-nannyists rummaging through trash to determine who recycles empty plastic applesauce cups and who doesn’t= okay. Because it’s FOR THE CHILDREN, probably.

    But:

Policeman rummaging through trash to determine validity of tip that gun used in recent murders is located therein = VIOLATION OF FOURTH AMENDMENT!!!one!!!

    Is that about right?

  7. jdm says:

Yes, Puck, you’ve understood. Now if you remove that sarcastic tone, you could play one on TV.

  8. SGT Ted says:

Public Employees unions should be outlawed, like it is in the Military. The Teachers Union here in California is a shining example of why.

It appears, sadly, that Dylan was bit premature with his song, Sundown on the Unions.

  10. B Moe says:

When I was a kid, the rationale for unions was the workers needed them to protect them against the greedy bosses, who were more interested in profits than worker safety or rights.

So how do people working for the government fit into that?

  11. McGehee says:

The government’s bosses are you and me, more interested in keeping our property and our earnings than…

  12. B Moe says:

So I am greedy, then? Sonuvabitch! I hate when that happens.

Wasn’t the civil service system intended to limit cronyism? Isn’t this an open admission that the civil service unions expect favors from the politicians they endorse?

  14. Ardsgaine says:

That should make it a little easier to vote for McCain.

    Every little bit helps.

Anecdotal, but I’m sure is evidence of something. I, unfortunately, work for a major county government in a human services department. I am not in the union. I wish I was at times as they get twice a year raises, paid parking, discounted medical benefits and so forth and so on. In almost every cubicle, of the union workers, there are little posters of baracky. More than just a few of these fine folk are voting for him, firstly because of those precious ounces of black blood in him and secondly because he is a democrat. One thing is funny, though. I’d venture to guess that over 95% of the workforce is democrat (and I’m guessing about 80% is black) and the white non-union folk all seem to be for Clinton, while the black non-union and union folk all seem to be for Obama. During Ohio’s primary, the tension was fun to watch for me and the 2 or 3 other non-democrats in the department.

I will wait for the day when an anti-union Republican says “Fuck off” to a police or fire union rather than “Do I gets to hold the flag and stand next to you for a picture?” Organization of workers is a right, bargaining collectively is a right, organizing meetings to decide what the workers should get paid is a right of both management boards and union boards, and unions have done some amazing things in their days.

If organized management can’t keep organized labor in check, then the managers don’t deserve the big paychecks.

All well and good, but unions also have been granted certain prerogatives at the expense of non-union employees. I would happily trade away the requirement that unions represent even non-members at collective bargaining, if they would take that in exchange for giving up what they ought to.

    I don’t think they’d do it.

According to the elites in the supreme court, you don’t have a reasonable expectation of privacy in your garbage. Those jerks.

“So how do people working for the government fit into that?”

Because just because your boss is the government doesn’t mean that they’ll respect you or your rights.
