In an article about the White House Correspondents Dinner, AP writer Christine Simmons attempts to give some context to President Bush’s tweaking of the current candidates:
Bush then referred to scandals that have dogged the campaigns of the two remaining Democratic candidates, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, in explaining their absence: “Hillary Clinton couldn’t get in because of sniper fire and Senator Obama’s at church.”
During the ongoing campaign, Clinton mistakenly claimed to have landed under sniper fire in Bosnia as first lady. Obama’s longtime Chicago pastor has been criticized for his negative comments about America.
Herewith some suggested topics for Ms. Simmons:
Adolf Hitler mistakenly claiming that Jews are subhuman.
Ted Bundy’s outreach program for single women.
Augustus Stanley Owsley’s Better Living Through Chemistry Plan.
John Kerry mistakenly claiming that he had a magic hat.ÂÂ
Hey, give Simmons some credit. Of all the ways she could have tried to make Bush look bad with that quote, she chose the most subtle.
Yeah, about as subtle as an atom bomb.
Godwin, party of one…
