    Yay! What a happy day.
Look how beautiful Mrs. D is, even just after giving birth.

Congratulations, JD (I love the name Madeline)

  2. Dan Collins says:

7 lbs 2 oz, 21″ bundle of joy.

  3. Karl says:

Congrats. She took her time, didn’t she? You just know that years from now, boys will be left waiting while she gets ready for dates.

  4. Dan Collins says:

In the living room. With JD. Glaring.

  5. mgroves says:

Born today or yesterday? I ask because my son was born yesterday. Congrats JD.

  6. Dan Collins says:

Today. Congrats to you, too! Have you got a pictures link or one that I can post?

  7. alppuccino says:

Congrats on the new punishment JD. Can’t golf with a new baby in the house. Excellent handicap-padding strategy. Health and happiness.

  8. BJTexs TW/BP says:

Wow, we have a contagious spread of babys! Congrats, JD, she has those pinchable cheeks that grandparents love to abuse.

Congrats also to you Mr. Groves. Now has anybody heard from Enoch Root or, as I was unavailable yesterday, did I already miss the news?

  9. Mikey NTH says:

Awww! Ain’t that just the cutest.

  10. alppuccino says:

Did not in any way wish to sleight you on your blessed event Mr. Groves.

Dan, Karl – you mean the boys will be able to get past the claymores?

  12. Dan Collins says:

I haven’t heard from Enoch yet. Waiting.

    What a cutie…

Yeah, yeah – the kid too…

  14. darwins says:

    yay!

  15. Dan Collins says:

I don’t think JD would do that to his lawn, Mikey. Besides, who needs claymores when you’ve got the Vietnamese Mafia?

  16. daleyrocks says:

Congratulations JD!!! Hope everyone is well.

It also looks like you married very well. Too bad I can’t say the same for your wife.

    I keed.

Congrats to all, and hug those chirren one time for Uncle B Moe.

  24. kelly says:

Hearty congrats, JD. All that acid you dropped in your reckless days doesn’t seem to have created any genetic problems. Oh wait, that was me. Sorry.

    Beautiful child and wife, BTW.

  25. BJTexs TW/BP says:

Heh! If all of this leads to the PW knitting circle we may drive Jeff away for good!

  26. Enoch_Root says:

    JD!

  27. darwins says:

More yay! Declan is teh coolest name I think.

  28. JD says:

Enoch – They were born less than 3 minutes apart. Happy Birthday!

If it had been a boy, we would have named him John Declan.

  29. Karl says:

    BJ,

    Knitted wrestling gear. Totally Jew-Jitsu.

  30. RC says:

    Wow! Congrats!

  31. Enoch_Root says:

    WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!

Who’s older? (Mama Declan would like to know)

  32. Karl says:

    Congrats, Enoch, BBR, mgroves also.

  33. JD says:

kelly – Any good genes passed along to Madeline are from Thuy. Their ability to overcome my genes will be a testament to their character.

  34. Enoch_Root says:

It’s a PW baby fest, really.

  35. darwins says:

It’s also Joseph Pulitzer’s birthday except he died. They named a prize after him.

  36. JD says:

Enoch – Declan by 2 minutes. Once Maddie decided to grace us, Thuy only had to push for 7 minutes.

  37. Pablo says:

Nicely done, JD and Mrs. JD. Congrats all around.

  38. Enoch_Root says:

    Jen pushed for… get this… 7mins.

  39. Pablo says:

Congrats to the Enoch clan as well. That said, it’s 2008, dude. Kick the photos.

  40. MayBee says:

    Enoch_Root!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pictures!!

All these babies! My milk is letting down.

  41. JD says:

Enoch – that is freaking spooky! Give our best to Jen, and the rest of the clan. BTW – Keep Declan about a mile away from Madeline until 2038.

  42. BJTexs TW/BP says:

Karl: maybe there’s a submission knit?

knit one, elbow lock, perl two…

  43. BJTexs TW/BP says:

JD: Only a mile? You’re getting soft.

  44. JD says:

I am off too get Kaitlin, so I can take her to meet her little sister for the first time. I have been a misty-eyed sap all afternoon.

    HURRAY HURRAY! Congratulations, Enoch!

    HURRAY!

  46. JD says:

BJ – The M700 APR is accurate to right around that distance, at least with me on the trigger ;-)

  47. darwins says:

Also your wife is a lot a beautiful lady. I kinda figured, but there it is.

  48. Enoch_Root says:

JD – congrats to you, your wife and the other monsterling (as Dan would call her).

so by my count that makes how many PW babies over the last month? 4, 5 ???? JD, mgroves…

also, Maybee – that reminds me of my favorite topic! BOOOOOBS – glorious BOOOBS

  49. Enoch_Root says:

thx Sarah and everyone. we are well-pleased. our oldest (12yrs) got to watch and quickly decided she would prefer to adopt… our plan is insidious…

  50. kelly says:

Congrats to all you PWers for your fecundity!

I don’t have any children because of state-forced sterilization in George Bush’s Amerikkka!

  51. alppuccino says:

All these babies! My milk is letting down.

Milk goes surprisingly well with bacon.

  52. Mikey NTH says:

    Congrats, Enoch and BBR.
I finally got a picture of niece Allison.
    She’s cute.

  53. Carin says:

Congrats! Beautiful baby, JD. Congrats Enoch. Congrats everyone.

    SOB. I wannanother baby ….

Instead, I’m stuck with you guys.

  54. Bender Bending Rodriguez says:

    Jen pushed for… get this… 7mins.

Oh, yeah, well my wife pushed for 5 minutes — totally drug-free. Not even a freaking Advil. It’s like she’s some kind of superhero. Your move, Enoch.

Henry Ross — 7lbs. 15oz., 20″ — Doc who gave him the circumcision gave him a nice compliment — said she had to use the large clamp.

  55. Enoch_Root says:

    Carin – SOB. I wannanother baby ….

Instead, I’m stuck with you guys.

I was about to say “it could be worse…” but then I realized… ah, forget it.

BBR – Oh, yeah, well my wife pushed for 5 minutes — totally drug-free. Not even a freaking Advil. It’s like she’s some kind of superhero. Your move, Enoch.

Not only did Jen accomplish 2 of her 5 (five) delivers without so much as a drop of Children’s Tylenol, but she didn’t make a peep… while concurrently skinning a cougar with a dull spoon!

As for the penis thing… did I happen to mention I am Irish?

anyway, Congrats on Henry Ross… love the name.

  56. Mikey NTH says:

Carin – you don’t have to clean up after this crew. Be relieved. Real, real relieved.

  57. Karl says:

More babies than one could ever hope to handle.

  58. Mikey NTH says:

BBR – just make sure you give him the right instructions. Such as how you do not want any surprises coming into the family room when you are trying to relax – IYKWIMAITYD.

  59. SarahW says:

Cheezit. Umm, I cut my kid out with a spork in thirty seconds flat. Applied a Sparkler and flat tire sealant, then did pilates.

    Or not.

  60. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Congrats to all!

Nothing makes me happier than hearing about smart people having babies.

  61. Mikey NTH says:

More little Americans to fill Fisher-Price’s coffers. Dads – buy slippers. They will allow you to negotiate Lego-mined floors with dignity.

  62. JD says:

I just read all of these to Better Half. She says thank you so much, y’all almost made her cry. I think she understand why I enjoy you so much. She also says that anyone that gives birth without an epidural has mental problems.

  63. Synova says:

Oh, how sweet! She looks like a baby, all squished and stuff.

  64. Rusty says:

Congradulations the both/all of you. Babies are about the coolest things on earth. You are truly blessed.

  65. Big D says:

I’m kinda new here, but allow me to offer my heartfelt congratulations! I have watched my wife give birth five times and it was always an awe inspiring event. You are truly blessed.

May God hold your little ones in the palm of his hand.

  66. Dan Collins says:

Big D, Enoch’s got you tied.

  67. MayBee says:

Oh yeah? I gave birth while modeling in a Victoria’s Secret Runway show. I simply paused midstride, gently pushed once, sliced the umbilical cord with my 4″ stilletto, and continued on. I didn’t so much as drop a feather from my wings.

  68. Cowboy says:

    JD, Enoch, BBR, mgroves:

What a wonderful blessing!! I am so happy for you all..extra rosaries at Mass tomorrow for all!

PW–it is the virtual Fertile Crescent!

  69. JD says:

5?! I would have to learn zone defense, and I grew up only knowing man-to-man D.

  70. JD says:

    MayBee is so very cool.

  71. Enoch_Root says:

Cowboy – Rosaries at Mass – now that is the best gift the little guy (and us) could ask for. Thx!

  72. Enoch_Root says:

MayBee is, as you say, very cool.

  73. Dan Collins says:

    So, Enoch. Details. Pix.

  74. Dan Collins says:

    Bet he’s got your penis.

  75. SarahW says:

Maybee, to tell you the truth, I’m kind of afraid to hear Darleen’s story.

  76. Obstreperous Infidel says:

JD, Enoch, BBR and any other PW commenters or lurkers that have had a beautiful child lately, congratulations! JD, both your wife and your new child are beautiful. You a happy man! I have two absolutely beautiful girls myself (three counting the wife who drew the short straw to marry me) and am genuinely happy for your new arrivals. Again congratulations and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!

  77. TmjUtah says:

Congrats! Cigars! Champagne! Brochures for college loans, all around!

Seriously, good going, and good luck, to all the new parents and godlets, deities not yet manifest, and goddesses.

  78. MayBee says:

Maybee, to tell you the truth, I’m kind of afraid to hear Darleen’s story.

    Ha ha ha haha!

  79. JD TWP says:

Sleep beckons. Better half has really enjoyed all of the comments, though she questioned some of your eyesight. Thanks.

  80. Ardsgaine says:

    Congrats, JD!

  81. Congratulations you guys!

  82. Darleen says:

    JD

WOW!! Woohoo!! Congrats and your wife looks wunderful!!

Enoch…oh my oh my… my best wishes

A veritable bevy of babies!!! My grandmotherly instinct to coo and cuddle is in high overdrive.

  83. Darleen says:

    SarahW

    HAHAHAHAH!!!

    Ok..thumbnail

1979 1st born, long labor (she had a big head), natural no drugs 8 lbs 3 oz 20 in
1981 2nd born, most of the labor was done while watching Raiders of the Lost Arc… I was NOT going to leave the theater. Had #2 within 30 minutes of hitting the hospital. No drugs, 7 lbs 8 oz 21 inches
1983 3rd born, made sure to try and get to the hospital a bit early…had her within 60 minutes, 8 lbs 5 oz 20 1/2 inches
1987 4th born, went to hospital at first contraction… Doc checks me, only 4 dilated, he yawns says he’s going to the cafeteria for lunch since I should be in there a few more hours. Two (count ’em, TWO) contractions later the nurse goes flying down the hall to fetch him as I’m suddenly at 10 and read to deliver. He scoots into the room to catch #4, a little amazed at it all. He remarks “easiest delivery I’ve ever had”. I quip “does that mean I get a discount on the bill?” Nurses snicker as he looks shocked and says “uh, NO!” #4 is 8 lbs 14 oz 20 inches.

I think its all that old hillbilly, hardscrapple farmer background. I loved being preggers and while labor was, well, work! I got through it really well.

and Maybee made me startle the cats with laughter re: milk. I could hear almost any baby crying when my girls were infants and the front of my shirt would get soaked.

and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE teh babies!

  84. RTO Trainer says:

    W007! Congrats!

  85. Bender Bending Rodriguez says:

Enoch_Root: Declan Michael born at 1:14CST

JD: If it had been a boy, we would have named him John Declan.

“Declan” was a top pick of mine, too, but that one was shelved in committee. Turns out Wife is not as big an Elvis Costello fan as I am. Who knew?

Big ups to Enoch_Root, JD and mgroves. The comments section will sound a bit drowsier for the next few months.

  86. All the cool stuff happens when I’m away. Way to go guys.

  87. Rob Crawford says:

Congratulations to all the new parents!

I kinda envy your sleepless nights and dealing with dirty diapers.

  88. kelly says:

I could hear almost any baby crying when my girls were infants and the front of my shirt would get soaked.

    Hawt!!
