Speaking of Big Oil (they don’t cry-ay-ay), Obamessiah has made claims that he doesn’t accept money from them, when in fact, he does–in any non-lawyerly understanding of the concept.

maybe it’s all a big plan to get Republicans in control of all three branches of govt….So that they get all the blame for whatever’s going down the next few years?
Democrats having a plan? About as much as Republicans do. It just looks like ’72 all over again.
better focus on the immediate and personal. I’ll be hunkering down with the rest of the declining middle class. Just like the 70’s.
This is but another omen that Barack Obama is going to win in a historic landslide.
I’m starting to feel like a migratory bird flapping helplessly in a oil spill. Snippets from a retired old coot of a Reverend, contributions from people who work for oil companies equating directly as oil companies, you people need to cook up some serious anti-Obama-fu or I’m going to walk across that isle just so I don’t have to listen to an endless loop of right-wing ebonics. I’d load Creed into my Ipod before this right-winger noise.
I’m sorry, thor, but I just don’t see much courage of his convictions here. I see lots of hopeyness and just about no changeyness–excluding the color of his skin. In other words, I see Enzyte for Chris Matthews.
You know why the middle class is “declining”? It’s because the Donks keep defining people out of it. You’re either “working poor” and they start shoveling money at you, or you’re “rich” and they start picking your pocket.
Because of the vig.
What typeface is that, Bold Penis Shadow?
From those links, this chart explains a lot more than the oil thing I think, even if it’s not at all surprising. But the media is not just a de facto wing of the Democratic party, it’s driving the bus.
Chris Matthews says… “People are allowed to criticize me. I want to be honest. I give an honest report of what I experience. It’s a fuller report than others have given.” People are allowed to criticize me, for supporting one Dem over the other… is what he’s saying. That chart I think speaks to a real ethos in the media against privileging one Democratic candidate over the other, and Matthews allows that it’s fair that he’s criticized for violating that ethos.
My only point is that all the angsty political coverage about the Dem standoff heading into the convention is misdirection from the fact that it’s exactly what one would predict from the data from that chart.
That chart I think is not just a measure of how in the tank the media is for Democrats, it’s a measure of the media’s ability to shape Democrat politics, and the Democrats are a lot putty in their hands this says. Matthews’ “independence” is just a useful misdirection from that I think.
Ack. .
Convictions? Conviction has nothing to do with assertions based on the dumbest of assumptions. Individuals donate without regard to anything other than the individuality of their name and their desire to donate.
I gave $200 to Barack. I like the guy. What’s that have to to do with with my employer? My donation to McCain was based on my like for him as well. I’d take a baseball bat to the bleating assholes I work with before giving a pip about their politics or donations. And I receive passive income from that there oil bidness, therefore that must mean I greased both candidates with a couple of barrels of my crude.
This great country allows for the public to participate in the equity and/or debt structure of any public company, and allows for private ownership of land and mineral rights. Donor’s donations aren’t defined by some invisible tail attached to every donor. That’s, like, so dumb.
Barack Obama stepped into the ring as a lightweight contender but has since relentlessly hammered the heavyweight favorite to the point many at ringside are asking the ref to step in. That’s it in a nutshell. Conviction? Kid Obama has guts, conviction and the crowd behind him and he’s destined for glory whether in this race or the next. Nothing more American than Barack Obama, as I see it. I’ll disagree with his politics but I’ll never question his conviction. He started with nothing but guts and conviction.
Cochino–it’s actually New Cockslap
Oh. It doesn’t like the chart link. The chart that shows media contributions to Dems as follows…
Hillary.. $2,940,867
Baracky.. $2,938,164
… parity. And that’s what we got.

thor–
He’s got oil company execs out raising money for him. It’s not exactly driving userers from the Temple.
Well, how very Clintonesque of the Obamatron.
Living in PA I’m getting bombarded with Obama commercials with “taking no money from oil companies, PACS or lobbyists” as the centerpiece of his message of energy victimization. The fact that he’s fifth on the list in contributions from oil and gas (about $80,000 behind the hildebeast) contributions that include individuals with ties to the oil/gas industries reflects his smarmy way of trying to play both ends against the middle. Of course, we’ll be told that he only takes individual contributions from oil and gas executives who are reform minded, progressive types. Yea, right.
Obama is a fraud.
Fixed that for you and sorry to hear about your shrinkage.
And you’re right . . . he has a great conviction that he ought to be president. But what does he mean to do? How is it that he’s going to wean us from our dependence on foreign oil and free us from $3.50 per gallon?
Thor, Baracky started with a media tongue-bath what was meant to distract from Kerry’s woeful lack of charisma, and it’s the media that’s nurtured and sustained him. Equating Baracky’s extraordinary opportunism with guts and conviction is not really fair to him I don’t think.
I feel I’ve given him credit where it’s deserved. For example, I was heartened by the way that he worked his ass off in Iowa. He earned that victory.
thor: Guts to do what? Run for president? Present himself as a possible “assasination” victim by the oppressive white patriarchy? Face off against the 60’s feminazi gender mindbots of the Hildebeast? (OK, I might give you that one.)
You seem to be bathing in the angelic dulcet tones of the Barack-Speak and, as a result, have turned off your brain. Here’s a clue: You are operating in the same part of your mind that caused you to quiver in sweaty man love at the altar of Michael Vick. This guy is a Chicago Machine politician devoid of substance, a brilliant politician who knows exactly what he has to say and do to get himself elected while hiding his most basic and personal political tenets. The fact that he’s bold and clever about it doesn’t win him and airport shoe shine.
He.Is.A.Fraud.
Yeah, well, I guess Obama should call the police and request they put a halt to them credit card waving oil executives. Who knows where they go to church!
Last week it was bug-eyed BLT’ers who liked Obama too much, before that it was Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam tribe, now it’s Oil (with a capital O!) Exec.s. Yuv sterped making sense laddie.
Okay, thor, so where do you get your information about Obama?
Call.The.FBI.Fraud.Alert.Line.Then.
O!
McC!
From Barack Obama, Dan. He wrote a book. He reads it aloud in audio book form as well. Something about a man putting his views in writing and having then having hte audacity to voice his own words out leads me to believe the cat might be speaking his mind. I take my Baracky unfiltered and my coffee black. You?
Oil (with a capital O!) Exec.s.
The only person pretending getting money from oil executives is bad is Obama. His ad is kind of an unforced foul, isn’t it thor?
Hey, I’d love to take the cat at his word. Only there’s Rezko, and there’s the fact that (to my mind) his long attendance at Wright’s parish bespeaks an endorsement–not of the dude’s wack views–but of his right to slander and lie and preach hate because of the color of his skin. Then there’s the campaign’s reported policy of not speaking to issues, but having people testify as to how they came to Barack. All of that kind of stuff bugs me.
I also take my coffee black.
So what he says is more important than what he does?
Baracky wants to draw a favorable comparison with McCain, cause among independent voters a big McCain strength is his independence. But Baracky could not disown Jeremiah. He glorified his own beholdenyness in fact. It’s not a huge exemplar of character I don’t think to demonize oil companies the same week his Democratic colleagues and media allies are vigorously demonizing oil companies. It’s the antithesis of independence, really.
Thor’s got a point. I mean, there’s a version of Occam’s Razor there, and it connects up with issues of intentionality. And I have been rough on the guy.
I don’t think he’s particularly dishonest. I think he is well-intentioned. I think that’s true of most people. What bothers me, though, is that I see here the politician’s sense of entitlement, where philauty makes it easy to bend principle into conformity with desire.
maybe it’s all a big plan to get Republicans in control of all three branches of govt….So that they get all the blame for whatever’s going down the next few years?
Cedeing all control to your opponent isn’t a guarantee of success, and in fact is testimony to your incompetence and impotence. But if you want to do that don’t let me stop you.
bj, I am sticking with the medium income description of whatever “middle class” is…like something aroung 40K per individual or 65K per family…but it’s rounded….anything below 100K kinda sucks but the vast majority is below 100K…that’s middle class, below 40 K person, 60K a family lower middle class…still majority. Regional variances? Yupp. I’d be hurting with 40K in LA.
I give Obama credit on his communication skills and he’s open-mindedness (if you’d read his books which I admit I haven’t finished my first reading)… There’s nothing too radical about the guy except his intelligence and self-made-ness. And he’s awesome in those two qualities. Hillary or McCain can’t compare in those two qualities. I kind of doubt he can Change US as much as we need it…but Hope isn’t such a bad thing and I see Hillary and McCain as the status quo… but McCain might shock us and I know health care costs are going up with Hillary.)
also the most small donations in volume and percentage of donations, I believe, for any candidate…he speaks to the middle class in that regard too.
He bowls like a fag, Dan.
So, I would expect better relations with the EU.
Dave, some would sooner take an eel in the ass than listen to Obama’s views as told by Obama. Obama, the most liberal member of the Senate – what total hucklefucktardery. Rarely is such an obvious untruth passed off as fact in the MSM as that whopper.
I almost feel sorriest for the liberalist liberals who are swallowing that gem. He’s a liberal, lo a moderate one. Ya think Lee Hamilton would endorse Maxine Waters? Not unless waterboarded first.
It shows a lot that it’s dawning on Baracky that teh changey won’t work against McCain like it does against Hillary.
“Corporations have been “moving in a direction where the electorate is likely to be,” says Mike Feldman, a Democrat and consultant for a number of U.S. corporations in Washington.”
Corporations have to contribute based on which candidate/party is most likely to screw them over if they don’t pony up. Large corporations have to worry about losing their subsidies, being raked over the coals by investigative committees, being looked at by Justice, FTC, SEC or having a competitor favored by legislation. They give to both sides but will favor the most likely winner. The voters only figure in it because the winning party/candidate gets to be the biggest bully. Democrats always have the presumed advantage in being bullies. It’s in the nature of that Party.
It is foolish to judge a man by his words and not by his deeds. With Senators Clinton and McCain there are decades of deeds, all in the public record, to judge them on.
With Senator Obama, there aren’t the decades of deeds in the public record. So how to judge his character? Substitutes are used, such as the people he associated with over a long period of time. Judging a person by the company he keeps is an old and trusted method, and under this Sen. Obama hasn’t come out looking so good. Tony Rezko, Rev. Wright, are both extremely questionable characters, and Sen. Obama’s close relationship to them should be a cause of concern.
Sen. Obama has based his campaign on the story that he wasn’t the typical politician; that was to distinguish him from all others in the race. That assertion is falling apart everyday with these revelations about his associates. Normally a politician can weather these things, but Sen. Obama set himself up rather high on this, and really provided no other reason to support him. As that leg gets cut out, he comes down.
thor – do you got anything to say other than insults? Any thoughts on why you support a particular position or politician? Based on anything other than he says sweet words and he’s dreamy? Because you’re turning into a one-trick pony just like Sen. Obama. Come to think of it, that maybe why you get so defensive – like calling to like, and all that.
I’m looking forward to Michelle Obama and Sarkozy’s new wife meeting, reaching out, kissing, hugging, sensuous touching, stately arm play, tantalizing unbroken stares and active footy rubs under the table.
That’d be frickin’ haut.
Yeah. Because of teh haut miscegenation!
When Obama refused to disavow the man, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, he was flipping you off. And that, too, was haut.
Obama’s a solid guy, IMHO, but don’t take my word for it, inspect him like you would a field hand, asshole.
Good teeth.
“Obama’s a solid guy, IMHO, but don’t take my word for it, inspect him like you would a field hand, asshole.”
Isn’t that kind of racisty?

Maybe that is his advantage over the skank. You can look and see what a piece of shit she is. With Obama we just don’t know it yet.
self-made-ness.
Anyone else around here grow up as entitled as Baracky? And I bet the Daley machine, Wright, The Weathermen, and Emil Jones would take issue with that self made BS.
Lift his tail and slap his loins.
Mikey, insults is pretty much the only arguments I get here except for maybe Dan, Karl, hf, or slart and Rob sometimes. defensive? maybe being offensive makes others offensive. Admittedly, I give it back, but admit not the level and experience of longtime assholery. PW’s all about learning that skill. Funny, I’ll admit. Thor’s better at dealing with it as sounds like he’s working in a room full of them.
Thor, they actually like eels in the EU. not sure we’d like them in the GI though. I think Dan’s kind of open…but he’s entertaining the mudpuppies: them other guys, for themLampricide is needed.
Neither Hillary nor Obama are that “Liberal’ imo, but my semi-socialist views are too radical for AmeriMacacca. Beside Obama bought into that myth about Vietnam vets getting spat on by hippies in his book which was very sympathetic to Republican feelings of social inferiority and he tried to be ‘friendly’ and ‘uniting’ unlike anything GW ever did. A minor point–he’s pretty bipartisan but progressive in looking at issues: TrueBlueAmerican all the way (before red became fashionable again) and he was even more correct about Iraq than McCain. We needed a better excuse to invade Iraq…and we needed to listen to military advice on how to do it unlike Rumsfield, Bush, McCain, and Clinton who had their own agendas in pushing for invasion of Iraq. (McCain was right about tactics more than Bush but would have failed to listen to experts on the situation like I believe Obama would have been…thus the growing military support for Obama as a leader who listens to them.)

That’d be because you’re an abysmally ignorant asshole, dave.
Proof?
Saying something like “Beside Obama bought into that myth about Vietnam vets getting spat on by hippies…”
Stupid, wrong AND offensive.
A regular fucking trifecta of asshattedness.
“Anyone else around here grow up as entitled as Baracky”
but he’s “very sympathetic to Republican feelings of social inferiority”..have to quote myself. You see ‘entitled’ eh? through that lens. I see genius for knowing that the Democrats needed a leader less inclined to be a copy of a Republican like a Clinton.
Now, JD, maybe I’ll come back at night to read your creative name-calling and look for some substance elsewhere. As for Dan’s and Karl’s dismissals for Obama just surviving Chicago hardball politics…..how else could he have done without doing so little in corruption. The Daley machine, the Republican big money entitlement system, I don’t you could buy a piece of property w/o some sort of mafia or syndicate involved. copy and paste little negative hit jobs on the guy but it adds up to very little compared to someone to the right of Kucinich or Nader.
“…thus the growing military support for Obama as a leader who listens to them.”
Bullshit.
This is an exact quote from my son, Matt the Marine: “Dad, I have not talked to one Marine who would vote foe either Clinton or Obama. Not one.”

Try to remember dave that what you linked in the past contained the line that the author had found proof that it had happened. You don’t even read your own proofs. You continue to live in a fantasy world where you are the star of some truth brigade, where in reality the actual truth is you simply cannot read for comprehension. You fail. Again.

he said that it might have happened buy never had actual proof. you didn’ t read it well, actually over 2000 cases were investigated and it was found mainly that a returning vet just made up that excuse to beat up some hippy.
from your proof Timothy McVie was some kind of hippy too. You Black Flaggers are so full of crap it’s up to your eyeballs.
“…it was found mainly that a returning vet just made up that excuse to beat up some hippy.”
Another lie.
I am used to the normal making shit up, but dataless is in rare form today. Maybe his grey matter is boiling from AGW. Or the cognitive dissonance generated by the oil co’s paying much more in taxes than profit. Or, Kyoto. And Halliburton, but not Wright.
dude ya gotta come up with something more balanced than Right Wing News???
you gotta know how that looks? oh, well. thanks for your ‘service’? But I won’t follow a line from a Tony Orlando and Dawn song: putting a yellow ribbon on anything….it’s just bad esthetics.
Take Mike Teter for instance,
“Teter said he supports the people’s right to protest, but he’s seen protesters cross the line. When he came home from Vietnam after spending a tour building infrastructure for the Army, it was “the wackos” waiting at the bus station in Mobile, he remembered.
“I was spit on, threatened,” Teter said. “They had to escort me onto the bus (to keep me from getting hurt).”
WTF? You’re excusing Obama’s corruption? I guess my quips that it’s not corruption when Democrats do it are true.
???
Ignoring the borderline literate writing, how much influence on Chicagoland politics do you think Republicans have?
And now you’re excusing Obama playing with the mob?!
You really do worship power, don’t you?
“Then there’s Vietnam vet Kevin Cooper who said,
“When I arrived home in California, I was treated like someone with the plague. I was spit on, yelled at, threatened and looked upon as a mass murderer.””
“One could also look to the experiences of Gene Stocks who says,
“When I returned home, I was spit on in the airport, called a ‘baby killer’ and had things thrown at me. It was the same for the other vets – there was lots of animosity toward those of us who had gone and done our duty. We were treated like second-class citizens.””
#37
Got it. You’re vapid; about as empty as Sen. Obama has proven to be after inspection (interesting you call for people to look him over and then insult them when they do and report what they’ve seen). You’re incapable of any contribution beyond that of a snarky seventh grader. Another typing telephone pole.
“Here’s “troubled” Vietnam vet James Alfred…
“It made a man out of me but it also made me disrespect the U.S.,” he said of his military experience. “I was spit on at Midway (airport) and called a baby killer. It made me feel like I wasn’t s—!””

fukn Rev. Wright ain’t hurting no one..but Halliburton’s ringing up a big bill for me at tax time or keeping me outta work whichever.
go ahead worry your l’il bald head over Rev.Wright….it’ll bald if not yet.
“Here’s Vietnam hero Steve Ritchie…
“Ritchie, 54, is the only Air Force pilot ace since the Korean War, and the only American pilot ever to down five of the Soviet-made MiG-21s. Homecomings have not always been so sweet. Like many who fought in Vietnam, Ritchie was not cheered when he returned from his first tour of combat duty. “I was spit on in San Francisco, in uniform,” Ritchie said, with only the slightest edge entering a voice softened by a North Carolina accent.””
“Here’s Ray Anthony with a similar story…
“Ray Anthony was just 19 years old when he returned stateside in a wheelchair from a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Despite his injuries, his reception was far from a hero’s welcome.
“I was spit on,” the Connellsville man said Sunday. “I came back in a wheelchair, and I was spit on.””
Guys, dave won’t be convinced, even if you had a first-person account and a preserved loogie with DNA testing tying it to a hippie. The blamelessness of the anti-war movement is a matter of faith with leftards.

Liar.
oh, BTW There was ONE proven case of spitting on returning soldiers and it was at San Fran…He was a Veteran of WW2 who spat on the returning soldiers as he thought they were pussies for losing. He wasn’t a hippy, but a VFW jerk, part of the Military establishment…and that’s why he survived and got away with it. Not a antiwar demonstrator in the least. Like a Drill Sargent. But that was within the military.
?!
Yeah, Halliburton execs spend hours plotting ways to keep you from working.
And, again, we see that the left’s dedication to opposing racism and bigotry stops when the principle collides with their lust for power.
Wrong dave, as per your usual. You will continue to assert that you are correct, I am sure, because you are not interested in truth if it does not help your argument. You seem further incapable of admitting error, to which I hope your kids are not learning as a worthy trait to have when they watch you do it.
Now Lembke appears to acknowledge that there likely were some incidents of actual spitting.

Obama’s “very sympathetic to Republican feelings of social inferiorityâ€Â..
swing at me if you want, wackos, but Obama feels your pain. Read his book and you might be more sympathetic yourselves.
My uncle died in battle. He wasn’t a liar.
Because what a ghost writer put on paper is more trustworthy than Obama’s voting record and long history of associating with the hate-filled left.
“likely were some incidents of actual spitting.”….just to defend himself from constantly being spit on himself and possible more violent actions….but he said “likely” but couldn’t think of any except that godawful VFWr that was identified by several returning vets.
he wrote it himself…that’s a proven fact and not like McCain or Hillary’s volumes.
Liar.
Again, what does it matter when you look at what he does?
Sure looks like his nephew is though.
There is no need to swing at you dave, as you keep doing it to yourself.
Good lord man, have whatever opinion you want on whatever subject you want, just don’t try peddling lies as justification for it. It makes you look self delusional and foolish.
You really are a blithering imbecile, aren’t you dd?
.just to defend himself from constantly being spit on himself and possible more violent actions….but he said “likely†but couldn’t think of any except that godawful VFWr that was identified by several returning vets.
Where are you getting this from, because it isn’t in the source you originally provided?
I gotta get going and stop feeding the feed back loop but I admit returning Vietnam vets Weren’t embraced with open arms and some hard feelings due to Social ostracization existed as I have friends who are Vietnam vets. None were spit on but they were angry, very angry at what happened to them and the govt’s complicity in it and the lack of ‘welcome home’ that the govt did little to help.
It’s not like I am insensitive or something but maybe Obama’s more so in that department. Sometimes Belief (spitting) trumps Reality (support the troops but not the leaders).
Again, you lie.
Can you help it? Is it involuntary?
No, I don’t believe you are being insensitive, because I believe you lack even the capability to change your mind in the face of contradictory facts. Perhaps your self defense mechanisms are so acute that they prevent you from seeing what you really are, because that would be more than your fragile psyche could handle.
You can’t even seem to handle small errors on your part, and in the end can only bring yourself to pretend that “I admit vets weren’t treated well” somehow absolves you of your error and your continued assistance that you are not wrong.
There is, of course the alternative, which is that you are just an evil prick who gets off on filling the world with lies.
Don’t expect anyone to feather dust your balls around here, least of all me. I do not engage in rational unparaphrasables. That’s Jeff’s, Dan’s, Karl’s, Cranky’s and Darleen’s job. I’m only here to woof at pissy birds like you.
I seem to remember giving some people some advice here a long time ago about talking to telephone poles. Now, what was that? Hmmmmmm…
Hey DD, before you start swinging Obama’s book at the pious hordes, check and see if it’s a first edition. Ebay’s a magnet for those.
Personally, I’m down with Cindy McCain in that role, but then I’ve got a thing for blondes. Get that M’chelle bitch a weave and maybe we can talk.

None were spit on
Why do you insist on continuing to lie ?
P-blo, sans Hillary, the futures market for upskirt First Lady pics looms large.
Shut up, Mikey.
Hey thor! Have they allowed you conjugal visits to Vick yet?
Oooooo … baby, baby now …
Part of the problem with Obama (as I see it) is this insistance that he’s “different” from other politicians, somehow more pure and idealistic. Watching him manipulate the press and public opinion while making some “insightful” gaffes (especially the “typical white woman” flub on a sports talk station fer cryin’ out loud) I’m left with the overwhelming impression that he’s desperately trying to hide his true colors. The liberal stuff comes from his voting record and, yes, he was found to have had the most liberal voting record in the Senate in 2006.
As a result I’ve gone from admiring but cautious to full blown “BS.” All of the hints, subtle and otherwise, scream “fake” to me which, I admit, is harsh.
“Shut up, Mikey.”
Misplace your copy of The Collected Sayings of R. Lee Ermey?
The Wright issues, as with the taking of “oil” money, is just icing on the cake. Fun to poke. Interesting to point out the hypocricy. But, I don’t need all that to be for “Not-Obama.” I disagree with just about every position he takes.
Abortion- opposes restrictions on abortions, as well as public financing of abortions
Global warming- Co-sponsored bill to set caps on “greenhouse” gas emissions as to RAISE energy costs.
Health Care- Wants “Universal” coverage. Assumedly following a socialist model.
Iraq – PULLOUT
Stem Cell – federal financing of embryonic stem cell. My issue is with the use of the word FEDERAL in there.
Gay marriage – suck it up, because he’s ALL for it, and plans to use the “bully pulpit” to urge states to grant it.
Education – Universal preschool (I could go on and on about that, but I’ll spare you). Also, he’s for “affordable high quality child care) – which is paid for by whom? Is this a job of he federal government? He USED to be for vouchers (way back in 1998) but no longer. He used to support Charter schools. Where did that support go? As he got higher up on the Democratic food chain, he was prolly taken aside by someone from the Teacher’s unions, and schooled. Now he’s all for raising teacher’s salaries. He will not abandon the public school system!!! Oh, except for his own children. The University of Chicago Laboratory School tuition ranges from 15,528 for Kindergarten to almost $20,000 for 5-8th grade.
Also I think he’s plans for higher education are a waste and disastrous.
Re-naming the White House to Obama’s Teen-Age Abortion and Stem Cell Fun House is going to, I feel, ruffle some feathers.
Well the souvenir vendors around “Obama’s Teen-Age Abortion and Stem Cell Fun House” are going to be upset by all their obsolete stock. On the other hand, it sounds like it might be a place that’s easier to get a tour of.
I’m thinking the Obama Iraq pullout plan isn’t going to go over with the MRE crowd, as well as others.
Reading through his positions, I just don’t feel all hope and changy. More queasy and like I’m gonna have to bend over and take it in my rear.
Racist heterophobe!
His positions aren’t really that different than Hillary’s. I guess that’s why they’ve decided to go with the Obama-as-savior route to attempt to get him elected.
See, it can’t be about the issues since the two Democratic candidates are so similar. Thus, the racism charge gets that more leverage.
His political positions aren’t really that different than Hillary’s.
I figured I’d better amend that.

My uncle died in battle. He wasn’t a liar.”
My cousin died in battle. My uncle flew 27 B-17 missions over Europe. Another uncle served as a medic in the South Pacific. My next door neighbor was a combat engineer with Patton’s 3rd Army.
You’re still a liar.
Let’s be fair: after all, it is possible that the returning Vietnam Vets either mistook the drooling and slobbering for spitting, or else simply gave these ipso facto specially-abled Protesters a very generous benefit of the doubt, isn’t it?
I hereby accord the same generosity with regard to B.O.’s bowling effort.

Reading through his positions, I just don’t feel all hope and changy. More queasy and like I’m gonna have to bend over and take it in my rear.
I didn’t know Obama wrote the Kama Sutra too. (originally I thought u wrote ‘take it in my ear’…that image made we a little queasy too..)
carin, too do all those positions you might need to be a republitarian.
O’Nanny, my sister married two black guys..why would I lie about that? Both career Air Force guys but after the divorces settled down with a short white biker guy. Got to admit you really take it in the ear too when it comes to spittin’. But really don’t tell me you also believe the Vietnamese were still holding MIA/POWs thru the 1990s too? Let’s get all buggiebears out of the closet and clean out the molding bedsheets right now so you can calm down and enjoy your family’s reunion. I don’t really dislike you and don’t want you pissing your pants or something.
“because that would be more than your fragile psyche could handle.” oh, I hang out at this biker bar with a bunch of MIA/POW flag wavin’, swaztika tatooed biker ex-Nam vets professing hippy love and liberal-itus and you say I got a fragile psyche!!! maybe flapping unhinged, & wooden-headed…but I made it this far…so ain’t fragile by a long shot.
as for your examples….it’s proof of the public’s gullibility for a pack of lies (even if possibly one out of a thousand might be true what does that make the rest of the anecdotes?).
Hillary was pretty funny about that bowling thing..calling an April One press conference and instead of conceeding offers serious handicap to Obama for a Her and Him smack-down bowling contest.
She’s been showing some good humor of late.
Somehow, I keep getting drawn back to this:
Jesus Quintana: You ready to be fucked, man? I see you rolled your way into the semis. Dios mio, man. Liam and me, we’re gonna fuck you up.
The Dude: Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I’ll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger ’til it goes “click.”
The Dude: Jesus.
Jesus Quintana: You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
Walter Sobchak: Eight-year-olds, Dude.
DaterDave, Hillary’s delivery is so staid and stiff you can actually count the years in her voice since she’s been properly goosed. Even I’ll admit that it’s fun to watch Pelosi’s tits jiggle when she chuckles, but you have no chance of that with Hilly.
“He’s basically another Bill Clinton, but without the sex scandals.”
really, that’d be devastating to the Republicans. ya Big Labowski!!
goosed!!!? wooden as in tongue in groove
(opps. I think she had some good times with Bill…about 30 years ago. I still think she’s a fine looking lady, but her Hedge Fund employed daughter could have had better genetics. )
eh, pete…I shoulda left the room as you gave a good coda…)
..but Halliburton’s ringing up a big bill for me at tax time or keeping me outta work whichever.
Halliburton sold KBR, dave. Several years ago.
The Iraq pullout is part of a larger plan. They actively hope that the “MRE crowd” (thanks for that BJ) will be so put off by the pull out that recruiting will fall off and they can justify resuming the pre/GWOT drawdowns. Otherwise we’ll have regrown the Army (for example) back to it’s mid-1993 strength by 2013.
And that’s the plan for preventing a future war–no military.
At which point, KBR became profitable. Before then it was operating in the red. Halliburton lost almost $1Bn in 2004 alone.
Anybody else bored with dave?
Alternatively, they’ll be “forced” by falling troop strength to reinstate the draft.
dave is many many words
Oh hell no. How many years do you have to tell people that they have no chance to succeed because all the forces of society are arrayed against them, before they start deciding maybe they’d best just give up ’cause there’s no use in even trying? There’s a power to positive thinking. Don’t you suppose there’s an equal power to negative thinking? That bastard and others like him have sapped the will of entire generations and they call themselves leaders of their communities.
As I’ve asked here before re the good Rev: When did “We shall overcome” become “We are so fucked”?
Firstly, the total of my opinion of Vick assumed that he’d lose everything when, in fact, the courts have ruled in his favor concerning his $20+ million signing bonus. Which is weird, because when one reads the fine print in Vick’s contract it seems obvious that Vick didn’t fulfill his end of the contract therefore Atlanta is due that portion back. Looks like he won’t be a broke bull-dog-fighter when he gets out. But clearly he lost more in future compensation than any bull-dog-fighter in the history of bull dog fighting, which, again, is not totally fair because he should not be punished for anything other than his crime. Being a mediocre QB who some feel never lived up to expectations, is not, as they say, a crime, nor is being inexplicably dumb.
BJ, at least you have taken the time to voice a rational compliant against Barack. For that alone, PW, I believe, owes you a thank you. Too many wingers voice what, in essence, isn’t a legitimate compliant but a convenient excuse to unfairly hate on the guy. This Baracky cat is a ball of ambition, of that there’s no doubt. He’s crafted a persona and worked an angle well, and you hit it, one of his angles is elegant egalitarian altruism cloaked in refined graces that, as with Oprah, he intermixes with the duality of a toughened black persona that rolls Southside, whatever that truly means. He wants us to believe in ambition he’s above the nasty me-me-me-ers, that he’s different, while at the same time making sure we know he smokes(d) and plays cards with the boys, just like us. But those who fart at the poker table do not, ultimately, swill chardonnay on the veranda with Nancy Pelosi, the contradiction is just too stark. He is either a total fake faking everyone, or he’s fooling one crowd or the other because gas and water mix no better than chardonnay and Pabst.
He seems affable and honest enough, but his smoothy-smoothness and willingness to reach out and fit into every crowd does make me skeptical as well. The guy is a natural leader, that you can’t deny the man, but just where the hell is he going, that’s the question.
Thanks, BJ! ;-P
“Anybody else bored with dave?”
Just skip over his inanity and everyting gonna be alright, oh yeah. I don’t mind mental illness at times (for me, it’s an occupational certainty), but not in this blog. The guy is seriously mentally ill. No fun in that. Slart has tried to engage, but theres’ nothing for it. It’s like fishing in a mud puddle.
thor,
Barack is a natural leader of weak-minded individuals. The type who contribute money to the “Rev Wright Mansion in the Sky Fund”.
I vote fake.
Thor, I agree…but then again that means absolutely nothing to me. Bush, who I agree with less than I disagree is the same way, imo. I’d probably ball with Obama. I would wear his skinny ass out on the block, though. So, I’m not sure how fun that would be. I wouldn’t bowl with him. But then again, I don’t bowl. But, politically there is very little, if anything, I agree with him about. The whole unity/hopey/changey tactic his campaign has adopted has forced all this scrutiny on him. Them is the breaks. He’s just not a very “unity” kind of guy.
Baracky not very decisive. Mostly hims present a lot. Also he hates eBay.
And white people.
#125 and BJ are in effect saying, hey, what Barack says isn’t as disagreeable as the kitschy packaging his message comes presented in. And I agree with that in the same way I can’t admit to liking Beck in a room full of people who like Beck. It’s the smelly Becketians with greasy hair, not so much Beck himself, who keep me fearful of the aftermath of a fifth of whiskey, sheep shears and me in a roomful of them. The Hopey/Changiness is oversimplified jingoism, but Barack has to stand up in roomfuls of people he must unify to a certain theme (besides vote for me). His Mr. BoJingles act is done with tremendous oratorical force, that’s admirable for in the end he is playing to win a game of populist politics. In his defense, speeches is not all there is to Obama. If take the time to read his books, as I have, you’ll find the man is quite thoughtful, intelligent and interesting.
That I’m happy with Obama as candidate doesn’t mean I will vote for him. It means Obama’s is latter-day story of a young, smart, deserving fighter who, despite the Clintonian-Don-Kingish fixers, will get a shot at the title.
Thor,
I’ll grant just about all of that, but I’m not going to vote for Barack any more than I would for Gore. I find neither one corrupt, as Clinton is, but they are such “philosopher-king” types, we’ll be confronted with an Executive totaly given over to paralysis by analysis.
I’d vote for Clinton first. A corrupt person is not afraid to act. They just have to be guarded at all time to keep them from stacking the deck entirely in their favor.
Rob,
Reinstating the draft will have the same outcome, but instead of no military as in empty, it’ll be no military as in unable to operate. The proponents of that idea have not thought through, in even a rudimentary way, what it would take to do that and make it work. The fastest it could be done would be 2 years with the DoD 90-100% offline.
When I heard the Hillary April fools joke about bowling Barack and his handicap the movie I thought of was “The Wanderers” and this scene.
“Galasso Brother: You guys are so good, it wouldn’t be fair unless you bowled handicapped.
Hustler #1: 20 pins!
Chubby Galasso: Twenty pins? That’s not what I was thinkin’ about.
Hustler #1: 50 pins.
Chubby Galasso: No good. What I had in mind was a *real* handicap.
Chubby Galasso: [picks up a bowling ball and walks over to where his brother has one hustler pinned down in a bowling lane, his hand stretched out] I seen this in my favorite movie.
Chubby Galasso: [to the hustler] You ever seen “The Hustler’? Good enough for Paul Newman; good enough for you.
[drops ball on hustler’s hand] “
Every Day Is Baracky Appreciation Day!!
“He seems affable and honest enough, but his smoothy-smoothness and willingness to reach out and fit into every crowd does make me skeptical as well. The guy is a natural leader, that you can’t deny the man, but just where the hell is he going, that’s the question.”
…a better country, fairer, freer, more compassionate, and less corrupt than the last 8 years of out of control budgets, Republicans selling their influence to the highest bidder. Obama’s got minor problems,,,,but is a “Liberal” (meaning a man for positive change and improvement)….a despised nom in Amerika…thus from some points of view he’s crazy.
oh, I am not giving up just because Nurse Ratched says I should. (thanks for commissar of mental health’s diagnosis but what do you have to offer in arguments? and Slart was only trying to convince me he’s right and I am wrong…that’s ‘engagement’?) Anyway, from any rational analysis of blogs…they teh crazy and a waste of time….but fun! blog dot bubble as far as money-making is concerned…isn’t profitable compared to hedged futures and MBA union bustin n poverty making but since money making is sine quo non of the Right-wing…just wasting time being a counterpoint to the circle jerk of thinking by O.I. et al is that commmizar of thought control’s definition of “teh crazy”. ‘Course at his type of work, he maybe just get commissions for how much drugs he can pump into his clients or….idle time and banter collecting a mandated profit for entitled insurance for ‘clients’ of his services as a mental health professional. Oh, my, it’s odd where the rightists hang out.
But work’s beckoning and I’d fire most of you if you were on my crew typing here…(except Dan and Thor as they’re concise and quick.)
dave if I was on your crew, within 3 days you’d be stuffed into the Port-o-John and tipped over a guardrail. Typical work site fun. Keeps the guys loose.
dave, I should have considered that you most likely have suffered numerous shitter pranks, before coming at you physically. I’m still getting my brain around the intricate rules of griefing. Sorry.
that’s it guy, I am outta here…. to clean some privies. I like those cleaner guys with the hoses…always good natured and humble. I think they might even get benefits at work.
yeah, that griefing thing…Nishi Baby. PW is a lite romp compared to WarCraft et al for time-o-wastin’..
I am being Unctuous, comparatively.
Well, I think that last ramble shows what dave’s real problem is — mental. His resentment towards mental health professionals, and health professionals in general, points towards someone with a personal beef.
Sad, really.
Oh?
Obama here?
Not sure if Alpuccino is O.I. or O.I. is Alpuccino? whatever???…..
