Dems 2008: The “nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah” phase of the campaign [Karl]

I have to credit Jim Angle for that title, as it is entirely apt to describe the silly spectacle of Hillary Clinton’s fundraisers writing a nasty note to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her suggestions that superdelegates should support the winner of the pledged delegate count, being met with a petition from OpenLeft.com and MoveOn.org supporting Pelosi, followed by the donors complaining to DNC chair Howard Dean about the Michigan and Florida delegations, and so on.

But it is possible to learn something — or better internalize what we already knew — even from this infantile display.  Chris Bowers, responding to the Clinton donors, notes that MoveOn likely has much more financial clout than Clinton’s fundraisers do with the Democratic Party now.

    Music to my ears.

  2. jason smith says:

HRC and her supporters are now surrogates of the GOP, threatening their own party!!!!!

Any true prgressive or independent would NEVER vote for her….she is a very evil person…you do not threaten your own party and expect to get votes….go away as soon as possible before you destroy our party…you are no longer welcome, take your few rich friends and get lost!!!! you can even pretend you are under sniper fire if you want!!!!

  3. Pablo says:

    More popcorn, please.

  4. Jeffersonian says:

The only thing I want to know is where I can send a check to keep this going and how to fan the flames.

  5. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

Gee. it seems like a lifetime ago that Dems were whooping it up about the passing of conservatives, Rush Limbaugh and the shambles of the Republican Party.

What was it nishidiot was saying about chickens and roosting?

This is the best primary season EVAH!

  6. Mikey NTH says:

If I were a Democratic Party superdelegate I would vote exactly the way my constituency went. If, say, I were a US Representative, then I would vote the way the primary voters in my district voted. There is no way I would upset my local power base just to please Howard Dean, or a Clinton donor, or some other person outside of my district. This is pure self-preservation, and I would excuse it by saying I was representing the wishes of my constituency.

  7. jason smith says:

I am from NY and DO NOT SUPPORT CLINTON…

Do any of these blackmailing thugs who threaten our democracy and threaten our govt. in order to support clinton have headquarters here that we can boycott???? this is ridiculous…this is supposed to be American where the will of the people and govt. of the people, by the people and for the people is the whole reason our country exists at all..the same as the freedom to speech, assembly, and religion, which bush has crapped all over….now clintons doing even more damage to our supposed inalienable rights…..please, people, STOP THIS!!!!!!

  8. Pablo says:

Do we have any beef jerky? We should probably do a beer run too.

  9. JD TWP says:

Do any of these blackmailing thugs who threaten our democracy and threaten our govt. in order to support clinton have headquarters here that we can boycott????

Who is threatening democracy? I freakin’ love it when the loonwaffles go full on krazee.

now clintons doing even more damage to our supposed inalienable rights…..please, people, STOP THIS!!!!!!

Dems don’t tend to stomp on Rights until they get power. Then, all hell breaks loose.

  10. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

Jason’s comment inspires me to extend my fist in the air and shout “POWER TO THE PEOPLE, MAN!”

I’ll do the beer run but you’re on your own for beef jerkey.

and Dade County but not Ohio…

  11. “Who is threatening democracy? I freakin’ love it when the loonwaffles go full on”

Since when did the party that supports Speech Codes on Campuses care anything about Democracy?

  12. McGehee says:

HRC and her supporters are now surrogates of the GOP, threatening their own party!!!!!

Years ago I trolled on a Dem forum claiming that Bill Clinton was a Republican mole out to destroy the Democratic Party.

They spotted me as a troll right away.

Heh. Looks like I get the last laugh on that one.

  13. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

Nothing says Democracy Now!! like the Fairness Doctrine, for instance… or McCain/Feingold, for that matter…

  14. geoffb says:

“Do any of these blackmailing thugs who threaten our democracy”

The real blackmail that is going on in the Democratic Party is not going to be reported on as those being blackmailed do not want the threat published. Publication of the thing you don’t want revealed is want blackmailers threaten. When successful the blackmail is only known to those involved. You can infer that it is going on when people do things completely out of normal character and against their own interests. What those donors are doing is a threat but not blackmail.

  15. Jeruire says:

No cash here. That’s why you can’t take ’em to court.

  16. geoffb says:

“HRC and her supporters are now surrogates of the GOP, threatening their own party!!!!!”

If the Clintons didn’t exist we would have to invent them.

The Democrats however have done this to themselves by enabling the most ruthless, power-mad and sociopathic among us and holding them up as the best and the brightest of all humans.

  17. Marge says:

LOL! I think The Clinton’s ways of doing things is exposed. Why is anybody surprised? I love it,because this is so going to back fire. Threats against your own party. Wow!!!! How stupid!

  18. Jeffersonian says:

I like poppers. Can we get some-a them, too? And Sam Adams…mmmmmm. Perfect for a Democratic rock fight.

  19. Mike McConnell, dba I'm Just Saying says:

Iraq collapses more each passing hour as a new civil war starts (maybe we can buy off Sadr too? The Romans were excellent at bribing foreigners; maybe we could learn something?), but Karl is concerned with the minutiae of the Democratic campaign?

I get it, whether Obama can be tarred with guilt by association or Hillary is a big liar is far more important than the fact that our forces have — AGAIN — been forced to choose sides in a civil war.

The Right wing is Nero, fiddling while financial markets collapse, wars remain fought half-assed, and their President stays focused on screwing the rest of us out of our civil liberties.

    Vive John McCain!

  20. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

Deputy: What do you think we have here, sheriff?

Sheriff: Looks like we got us a thread jacking by that notorious IJS, deputy.

Deputy: Kin I shoot ‘im, sheriff? Please?

  21. Pablo says:

Iraq collapses more each passing hour as a new civil war starts…

I remember when Iraq was in the QUAGMIRE of civil war between Shia and Sunnis, and that the problem was intractable because Maliki, Iranian puppet that he is, would NEVER crack down on Shiite thugs, only Sunnis, thereby damning any hope of national reconciliation.

Now that he’s doing just that, it’s HOPELESS!!!

I don’t know about you, but I’m flipping back and forth between channels. The Iraq one is pretty damned interesting, but the Dem one is absolutely hilarious.

  22. JD TWP says:

    QUAGMIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Jeffersonian says:

The best thing America can do for any situation is to run away from it. Or have I misread?

  24. JD TWP says:

Jeffersonian – You have summed up IJS’s position quite nicely. Flee at any sign of harship. Surrender in the face of the French, tough to beat them to that. Walk away if your resolve is tested. The only way we can lose is if we quit, and they seem determined to do just that.

  25. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

WE HAVE NOTHING TO QUIT BUT TEH QUAGMIRE, ITSELF!!!

  26. Squid says:

I thought the first action was to distract, and if that didn’t work, THEN flee. At least, that’s how it usually works around here.

  27. Bender Bending Rodriguez says:

the same as the freedom to speech, assembly, and religion, which bush has crapped all over

It’s true. I was at Jason’s church on Easter and Bush Stormtroopers bumrushed the show, threw everyone in prison and burned the building to the ground. The same scene has been repeated over and over all over the Bushitler Empire of Rights-trampling. Damn you, George Bush!

  28. Jeffersonian says:

Well, you have to admit that just staying home and paying the invoices as they roll in makes it a lot easier to catch the latest girl-girl action on the Spice Channel.

  29. Log Cabin says:

I think of Obama/Clinton as the modern political analog of the Nazi-Soviet conflict. But let’s play it a little differently than Roosevelt did:

Refrain from sending massive supplies to the Marxists (obviously Obamaniacs)and stop bombing the Nazis (Clintonistas). Sure the Russkis are still going to win, but maybe not until ’46 or ’47 and substantially wounded at the end.

Too bad Monty is our Supreme Allied Commander!

    You are quite amusing, Mike.

I doubt you were even born when the Viet Nam war was fought, bu8t you must know that America running away led to at least two million deaths in the region.

If we run from Iraq (and I do believe it was was not the smartest move we have ever made), Cambodia is going to look like the teddy bear’s picnic.

But, hey! Why should you care? You just want other people’s money, right? How dare anyone take responsibility for their own lives when we have Billary and Obama waitring in the wings?

  31. Rob Crawford says:

their President stays focused on screwing the rest of us out of our civil liberties.

What civil liberties have you lost?

  32. JD TWP says:

Rob – Do you mean the Rights that they have lost in their minds, or actual Rights?

  33. Rob Crawford says:

Rob – Do you mean the Rights that they have lost in their minds, or actual Rights?

    Actual rights.

  34. JD TWP says:

    None.

Are we having fun, yet, Hillary?

  36. Patrick says:

People should not be afraid of their government… governments should be afraid of their people.

    GoBAMA 08!

  37. Jeffersonian says:

I hope the fuck #36 remembered to turn on his sarcasm tag.

  38. Rocat says:

“Rob – Do you mean the Rights that they have lost in their minds, or actual Rights?

    Actual rights.”

yeah, that makes it a lot harder…

  39. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Cognitive dissonance #1,346:

“People should not be afraid of their government… governments should be afraid of their people.

    – And of course because we all know what evil people populate the government, all the conspiracies, and trampling of peoples rights, one could not think of a finer group of people to hand the health of the entire country to.

    ……?

    ……?

    …..nevermind…

  40. Pablo says:

Howard Dean, the gift that keeps on giving:

“The real issue is this. Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?”

Of course, McCain doesn’t have 3 purple hearts and he did a bit longer than 90 days in country earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, a Purple Heart and a Distinguished Flying Cross.

  41. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – And I’m pretty sure he didn’t make out his own action reports, twist the arm of his commanding officer to push through his medals, or have to rely on a total Presidential fuck-up to pardon his dishonorable discharge.

    – Other than that, I’m sure they’re morally equivalent men.

  42. Shannon says:

If history’s lessons are simply recognizing the cycle of things, I would liken the political demise of the Bush/Clinton regime much to the time in history when the mob was run out of Las Vegas. More of an evolutionary event impacted by someone willing to stand up with courage at the ripe time, and Clinton instinctively knows that if America gets a reprieve from bully politicking, corporate backed white house decisions and money laundering of our government (who else might we find when we get someone straight in the White House) – there will be no more room for the Clinton tactics or way of “doing business” in Washington, as it is so politely referred to, and they will die off associated with the bad legacy in this time in history.

I appreciate Moveon.org and those Americans who are like-minded and willing to go through the changes necessary to take this leap across culture to good faith and good will of the people. The people in Pennsylvania say that they don’t want change – but do they understand that Bush changed the Constitution, the benchmark for democracy and it has had a ripple effect on their lives and they have made those adjustments. If things hadn’t changed, there would be an infrastructure in place when the industrial revolution was in its weaning years. They wouldn’t be forced to live in desperation. If big brother were truly watching the flock, they wouldn’t be going to the slaughterhouse.

  43. Pablo says:

The people in Pennsylvania say that they don’t want change – but do they understand that Bush changed the Constitution…

No, I don’t think they do, Shannon, especially given that changing the Constitution is not within the power of the President. You might want to explain it to them.

  44. Shannon says:

Sure, where are they? … I understand the argument that judges in this country have been changing the Constitution since we created the Supreme Court based on their own judgment. They do it all the time without consensus, and we don’t even vote our Judges in, so they really have all the power.

But it would probably be easier to explain that we impeached a President for lying about getting a blowjob.

  45. Pablo says:

    Sure, where are they?

I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest Pennsylvania. And yes, while judges don’t actually change the Constitution, they are tasked with interpreting it, and they make judgment calls that become case law, so it’s pretty damned close to the power to change it. But they’re not the President.

  46. Rob Crawford says:

But it would probably be easier to explain that we impeached a President for lying about getting a blowjob.

No. Clinton was impeached for lying under oath about facts material to a court case.

Or are we back to Democrats saying that corruption, when committed by members of their party, is OK?

  47. Shannon says:

But don’t you know who the Decider is?

  48. Pablo says:

    Do tell us, Shannon.

  49. Shannon says:

Dear Rob, I was being light hearted and glib. Do excuse me. That remark aside, I am in full agreement that Clinton lied, perjured himself, obstructed justice, and deserved disbarment. In no way did I have anything to do with Clinton’s 65% approval rating at the end of his presidency. Nor do I approve of his obfuscations at this juncture. He is a spin doctor, murky and the cad that came out smelling like a rose. In truth, I resent it.

And Pablo, I do appreciate your directions to Pennsylvania. I’m mapquesting it right now.
What kind of wisdom is in the protein, anyway?

  50. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

What kind of wisdom is in the protein, anyway?

    – The kind that gives anyone who comes here with shop worn cultist screeds, and moonbat talking points, hives.

  51. Pablo says:

It’s a genetic memory sort of thing, IIRC. Like where you just sort of instinctively know where Pennsylvania is.

  52. alppuccino says:

corporate backed white house decisions and money laundering of our government…….I appreciate Moveon.org

You really know nothing about Moveon.org, do you Shannon? Who does Moveon support?

  53. Shannon says:

Clearly, inbred, needle-nosed snippets may keep the drunken insurgents from crashing the dance in the pantheon, lest a screed give seed to an ignoble hangover.

  54. happyfeet says:

The pearl is in the river.

  59. Spiny Norman says:

Wow, Frankenstein’s monster is trying to devour its maker.

  60. Patrick says:

“The best thing America can do for any situation is to run away from it”

No… the best thing we can do is not get involved in the situation in the first place. Saddam was good… simply for the reason that he kept the Shiites in check. Al-Sadr should of been taken out already by Maliki (or us) but now Maliki has backed down. Let us keep in mind that it was Shiites in Iran that took American hostages in 1979 after overthrowing the Shah… it is the Shiites that are equivalent to the religious nutjobs we have in this country (Southern Baptists, Mormons and their offshoots) et cetera.
