Meaning? [Dan Collins]

I’m sorry to be so dense, but could you please parse this for me, Senator Obama?

“In some ways this, this controversy has actually shaken me up a little bit and gotten me back into remembering that the odds of me getting elected have always been lower than than some of the other conventional candidates,” the Illinois senator told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an exclusive one-on-one interview.

(And please try not to be knee-jerk in the comments, as there’s so much succulent nuance to enjoy, here.)

“…the odds of me getting elected have always been lower…”

As would be expected for any first term Senator.

  2. dicentra says:

Does this fit into the “soft bigotry of low expectations” somehow?

I suppose that choosing a mentor who preaches ‘God damn america’ is rather unconventional.

That was one of Traffic’s best albums, IMO.

    I’ll translate:

“I’m being picked on because I’m black. Well, half black, which is good enough for government work.”

“It’s because I have big ears and my socks are too loose.”

I decided to buy the Smiling Races compilation CD instead.

Now Obama’s a victim ? Please. Nobody is buying it. His campaign tanked as soon as he was fully vetted.

Personally i can’t wait for the next 60 days as we watch the dems fight amongst themselves and implode. I found myself getting behind McCain for the first time, for no other reason than I believe he is the lesser of two evils.

Maybe he’s done been shaken to his Progressivized Alex Haley roots – which have thus resulted in the blighted [socially constructed?] fiction we now know as the “African American” in all its – sometimes real – permanently oppressed and hateful glory.

But who in their right mind would want to be or be seen as that, especially in America?

Despite all the nuance, I couldn’t help but notice that what made BHO cringe was his grandma worrying about black men walking behind her; NOT spending twenty years with a bitter, venomous racist using the church as a launch pad for deranged attacks on whites and America.

Well, the fact that you’re a Chicago pol (!) who ran unopposed (!) for the Senate, and I’ve never heard of your ass before last year (!) might have something to do with it, Barry.

I’d say you’re a “dark horse”, but the Rev Wright would probably take out a contract on me.

  13. Dear Mr. Fantasy, give us a clue
If you win, our poor land is in your power
Dear Mr. Fantasy, what will you do
If next year, comes around your biggest hour

  14. *sigh* and I had such HOPE for him….

Because of his blind faith he will never sail on that sea of joy now.
