There was more, but it doesn’t change what she said, despite all the temporizing, linguistic tal dancing, and faux outrage that anyone is characterising her words as clearly racist. She happens to be on Clintons finance committee, basically a cover so she can do all the things that shills do, but leave her with plausible deniability.
– She went on FOX today and carefully explained why saying Obama couldn’t get where he has if he weren’t black, is different than saying the color of his skin is the reason hes where he is. while she was at it, she used as much of the tie alloted to demonize Barrack and his campaign managers for having the temerity to question her bigotry, playing the vuctin card that has been such a key component of the Chillery-bites run for the primary slot. She distanced herself from hillery, rather then her statement. ffering up proof that she isn’t a Clinton shill by citing her appearences on FOX. Apparently thats code speak for anti-left.
– For his part, Obama himself has changed tactics, declining to respond to Hillery’s lastest round of attacks on him by name, For now, much as with the Ferraro ravist commernts. the Obama camp wikk now launch the counter statements, rather than the candidate himself. He must have been watching the Datk Lords FOX apperences, where Karl outlined advice, as his campaign moves forward. Obama seems to be following Roves suggestions.
– Aside from the obvious “teh stupid” of Farraro’s statements, one has to assume this sort of thing will only increase. So fsr, from where I sit, the Clintonesta’s have not so subtly, thrown everything but the St. Valentines day murders at him. called

There was some talk yesterday that Spitzer held off resigning so he could use his resignation as a bargaining chip to get the charges dropped.
So how does this work?
Like, I guess this isn’t really plausible.
“You got me copper. That’s right, I’m the worst serial killer in the history of the state, but if I resign my job as City Hall janitor you’ll drop the charges. Right?”
But this might work:
“You got me copper. I broke six different federal laws and any Federal Prosecutor worth his salt could pad that out to two dozen indicments, but if I resign my job as Governor of New York, we’re cool. O.K?”
Is there some sort of sliding scale? You know, the bigger your job, the bigger the crime you can get away with. Does this only apply to elected officials? Public sector workers?

The Republicans threaten to bring articles of impeachment in 48 hours if I don’t go.
I want to cinch a deal before that happens, but if I can’t get one that I like, I have things tied up in the House, and have the press reporting that it’s due to Republican intransigence, because they like having me twist in the wind, for partisan political purposes.

It’s a bargaining chip, as it does involve the public interest, but how valuable a chip it is remains to be seen. Pleas are often made to avoid the expense to the people of a trial and to protect the people from the possibility of acquittal. In this case, the people get the bonus of having their criminal governor go away now instead of having him linger through investigation and trial…assuming such a deal plays out.
That really doesn’t work if you’re the janitor. And if you plead guilty, you really didn’t get away with it.

Don’t worry, the fair city of Washington, DC has taken appropriate umbrage at Spitzer’s suggestion that one must import hookers from out of town, but really, this is nothing new. Your typical New Yorker would bring his own pizza to Chicago, his own steaks to Omaha, and his own sand to Bora Bora. The fact that they so often end up bringing a knife to a gun fight is perhaps the best explanation for why they get so squirrelly when they’re off their island.
