I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the netroots community on a successful weekend in Chicago . . .

    Cross posted at Huffington Post.

Sweet Mother of Jesus, I’m fixin’ to have a stroke over here. Mrs. Spitzer looks like she wants to punch him in the mouth. Too bad it’s not 3 AM. She could call Hillary.

  2. MC says:

    Because of the NUTROOTS!

    Oh, netroots, never mind.

  3. Semanticleo says:

‘Bout a dozen years back, a physician who lived down the street was indicted by the Feds for prescribing online.

25 years previously, his mother had been murdered and the case was unsolved until his relentless pressure via elected reps and letters
forced them to reopen, and finally solve the matter about 2 years
before the Dr’s arrest. Don’t remember why it was a federal matter.

    Don’t fuck with the Feds.

  4. DE says:

Feds are just dems who got jobs from dem congressmen who create their costituency from tax dollars and create more feds and fed jobs for more dollars and constituency. Tax leaches like the dems. Collect a check and a pension. Tax leaches.

    Fun with comments:

europe looks in disbelief at our hangups on sex.

he is toast. can we blame this on the bush crime family or karl rove or condi. darn hope so. would not put it pass them.

Lots of chewy-goodness over at Huffpo.

  6. Jeffersonian says:

I’m just heartened to see that there are good guys around like Gov. Spitzer who see to it that these wayward lasses aren’t tossed into the streets, homeless. It would seem his crusade for these girls has gone on for some time, too.

When discussing how the payments would be arranged, Client 9 told Lewis: “Yup, same as in the past, no question about it,” suggesting it was a routine exchange.

  7. Rob Crawford says:

Yes, because it’s about the sex. Not the idea of an elected official breaking the law. Not the idea of someone charged with enforcing the law frequenting a mob operation.

  8. MayBee says:

Did you see this (from the NYT)

he affidavit says that Client 9 met with the woman in hotel room 871 but does not identify the hotel. Mr. Spitzer stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington on Feb. 13, according to a source who was told of his travel arrangements. Room 871 at the Mayflower Hotel that evening was registered under the name George Fox.

The law enforcement official said that several people running the prostitution ring knew Mr. Spitzer by the name of George Fox, though a few of the prostitutes came to realize he was the governor of New York.

Mr. Fox is a friend and donor to Mr. Spitzer.

Using a real friend’s name with the prostitutes. Would you call that cheeky? Or cocky?

  9. Jim in KC says:

I’d call it being a dick.

  10. Mikey NTH says:

As Rob said; and let me say – a $5,500 an hour operation. And only greenbacks were being exchanged for services, uh, rendered. Not with the governor of the state.

“It’s only sex.” is supposed to be so much more nuanced?

  11. gahrie says:

Hey…at least it wasn’t one of his interns…..

  12. George Fox says:

The $5,500 means nothing. She was begging for it.
