Via Kathy Shaidle via Sondra K via Pat Riotic comes this tale of colossal jackassery:
A former attorney general and human rights commission chairman is claiming that unborn children in the earliest stages of development are not human, and are in fact chimpanzees.
Dr. Jorge Carpizo McGregor claims that “for the topic of abortion, there are very important scientific advances that prove that the DNA of chimpanzees is 99 percent identical to that of a human being. The difference between ourselves and chimpanzees is one percent, this quantity that makes the difference is the central nervous system.”
“Before twelve weeks of gestation, there is no cerebral cortex, that is to say, there is no human being, the cortex is formed around the 25th week. This is a very important piece of information because those who attack abortion say that a human being is being killed and it isn’t true.”
“That’s ridiculous,” said Dr. John Shea, medical advisor to Canada’s Campaign Life Coalition. “This is the most ignorant remark I think the man could possibly make. He must be totally ignorant of science.”
The article goes on to note some of the ways in which Carpizo is incorrect from an ontogenic point of view, and then reveals that this ass is a former attorney general of Mexico and former head of Mexico’s human rights commission. He is arguing this case before Mexico’s supreme court in defense of Mexico City’s legalization of abortion, and intends to make the fruits of his vast intellect available to the world in the form of a book, to be published sometime this month.
He has bemonkied himself. Must be something about the shitegeist.
A former Pace University student who twice threw copies of the Koran into a toilet at the school after disputes with Muslims pleaded guilty Monday to disorderly conduct in connection with the incidents.
Equal protection at work!
MSM: Climate skeptics don’t understand the rules of consensus
Those who advocate abortion of chimpanzees gestating inside humans outraged by video supposed to show American soldier precipitating puppy off of cliff. Many who defended Megan Meier’s tormentors will squeal like stuck pigs. Much worse than this, because committed by soldier.
NOTE: If the video’s legit, this guy ought to be disciplined and forced to receive treatment. It’s the disproportionality of the response that smacks my gob.
Dopey actress too dopey to realize how dopey she is, too stupid to apologize for stupidity
SICKY PUPDATE: prolly fake
ghts commission chairman is claiming that unborn children in the earliest stages of development are not human, and are in fact chimpanzees.
No, I think we should run with this idea. Perhaps we could get PETA on board?
Good point, Carin.
so do mice.
— Mice and humans both have about 30,000 genes – and share 99% of them – but the mouse genome is shorter than that of humans (2.5 billion letters compared with 2.9 billion) — — About 1,200 new genes have been discovered in the human because of mouse-human genome comparisons.
so do other all other mammals share 99% with homo sapiens sapiens.
that guy is a idot….errmm and the connection with the toilet Qur’an is?
How people’s responses are warped by their identity politics and PC, nishi.
the near-unanimous chorus of concern expressed by top U.S. politicians and most of the scientific mainstream.
Those are the key words, Dan. It is unanimous among the good guys. And the mainstream.
Could this be a subtle swipe at George Bush?
Re: The puppy video
While completely offensive and grounds for discipline, does seem to involve a dead dog. During the TNR “Baghdad Diarist” scandal, the Left was very big on saying that far worse happened in Iraq all the time and that we should understand it because the war was so dehumanizing. Those on the other side rarely disputed that soldiers in a war zone will behave coarsely, but doubted that dogs could be run over with a tracked vehicle like the Bradley, etc. There was a pretty bipartisan consensus that soldiers in a war zone might make a video like this. But now the Left wats to make it a hanging offense. Because of the… well, you know.
I call bullshit on this alleged “puppy video”, and if by chance I’m proven wrong, an apolgy will be forthcoming on an appropriate thread.
Is it ironic that I want to see poo flung at Dr. Jorge Carpizo McGregor? It seems strangely fitting…
Check out that WaPo article on the climate change summit. The reporter went ahead and made sure that the sponsors of the summit were at least alluded to, that the actual numbers of pro vs. con were indicated, and that the opposing side was included.
Except that this treatment was never afforded to the Bali conference. What a buncha weasels.
