Assassin Nation [Dan Collins]

From William Kern at The Moderate Voice:

One of the most disturbing questions that Barack Obama’s candidacy raises is this: What if he were murdered? If Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination and was gunned down before November, what effect would this have on the presidential race? In this uncomfortable op-ed from Mexico’s Excelsior newspaper, Francisco Martín Moreno outlines what he sees as the danger to the United States and the rest of the world if this were to occur. He writes in part, ‘A violent dispatching of Obama would leave the road to the White House paved for McCain, with Mexico and the rest of the world having to deal with four more years of Republican nightmare … If Obama wins, he can lose his life … Shouldn’t Hillary, just in case, accept the vice presidential ticket?’

The article, which proceeds from the unchallenged premise that the US is perceived as more racist than the rest of the world, is jaw-dropping, but demonstrates the degree to which the liberal media has painted the country into a corner in which it’s now seen as imprudent to have elevated Obama to the probably nomination due to the backlash that would occur if the candidate were assassinated in accordance with the barely concealed leftist fantasy, which gets off on the idea in much the same way we are both appalled and thrilled by the victim’s death in a horror movie–and with the added bonus of delectable outrage.

If Obama is assassinated we will see a huge race war and riots. We may see them if he loses, especially if its by a controversial margin.

  2. happyfeet says:

Hillary should be VP so that people would be too scared to assassinate Barack? That’s too funny.

  3. happyfeet says:

    TEH RACE WARZ!!!

Ohnoes. Assassination as performance art is what this sounds like really.

  4. Carin says:

There was one of these articles in the Detroit paper today – an AP journalist. Idiotic. I mean, all presidents are potential targets, right? Is there something magic about the “racist-would-be-assassins” that they’re going to be a bigger threat than the every-day threats to a president? I was at a Bush speech during the last election cycle, and I had a grand old time watching all the snipers, etc, setting up.

Besides, the last few prominent people who were assassinated (or attempts were made) in the US were white.

And, honestly, if no one has tried to off that annoying Jesse Jackson by now … well, I think the racist killers have just gotten lazy.

  5. TmjUtah says:

+1 on what Hillary! as VP would mean in practical terms.

You want to keep Obama room temperature? Putting Hillary! in line of succession is not the go-to strategy. Not nearly. Not even close.

  6. mgroves says:

Killing Jesse Jackson would be like killing Obi-Wan. He would become more powerful. Killing Obama would take away his power.

I don’t know why I’m doing a psych profile on a hypothetical racist assassin. Bored, I guess.

  7. Rusty says:

I think it says more about the bizarre racist views of lefties and their opinion of the rest of us. Their self loathing knows no bounds. This is gonna be one damn entertaining election year.

  8. JohnAnnArbor says:

Two people took shots at Ford while he was in office, and of course one loony came within an inch of killing Reagan. Funny how none of that is mentioned.

Remember how the left thought it amusing to make a film showing GWB being killed.

  9. JohnAnnArbor says:

Mexico is an embarrassingly racist place, but of course the writer of that piece would deny it. They won’t let people run for office even if their family’s been in Mexico for generations; they’re not really “Mexican,” you see.

  10. Alcyoneus says:

Over the years, I’ve been able to assemble only one explanations for articles like this one: liberals are, quite simply, crazy.

    Neo-liberalism is a mental disease.

  11. Carin says:

According to my husband, Obama would have more to fear with Hillary as the VP. He still thinks the Clintons were behind the death of Vince Foster. According to him, the racist would turn out to be a “good old boy” from Little Rock.

  12. Darleen says:

Good lord, this lefty assassin p0rn has been a running theme ever since Barry hinted at running for President.

Seems to me Barry should be worrying more about some of his acolytes who would like to martyr him “for the cause.”

  13. Bender Bending Rodriguez says:

I didn’t believe he had the slightest chance of achieving that goal, primarily because he was an illustrious unknown besides being a man of color in a country characterized by racial discrimination.

Wait a second. I am offended by the notion that the US is “characterized by racial discrimination.” We are characterized by warmongering, hating gays, blowing up innocent children and women at wedding parties, and being fat.

Get on the same page as teh rest of the lefty press, Francisco [Will Ferrell in Elf: “That’s fun to say!”] Moreno.

  14. K says:

Exactly. The biggest assasination threat is from the left, or from the Jihadists. This guy is now a walking religious icon. Killing him would have effects way beyond 9/11. You can see the parallel in the JFK and RFK assasinations. Performed by leftists, but blamed on the right. I think someone needs to get on this right now and give Barry unprecedented security.

  15. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Odd, isn’t it, how so many citizens of that progressive beacon to all mankind, Mexico, prefer to live here in Teh Most Racistest Cuntry Evar.

  16. happyfeet says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA hoh no OMG HAHAHAHAHA breathe too funny HAHAHAHAHA OMG cough ho okay okay link

  17. happyfeet says:

    see that’s ironic because…

  18. It’s frustrating when you travel or talk to people from other nations the really stupid, horrible things they just presume about America without even bothering to stop and question them. America is brutally violent, racist, thieves and murderers everywhere, the 2001 election was a huge fraud where President Bush stole the election, it goes on and on. They simply don’t bother to even wonder if any of it’s true, like kittens slurping up milk.

  19. N. O'Brain says:

Could it be that conspiracy theories about the Kennedy assasination were encouraged becaused they distract from the fact that the real assasin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was a flaming, commited leftist?

  20. McGehee says:

    the barely concealed leftist fantasy

This language is far too polite to be accurate. It’s not a fantasy, it’s a fucking wet dream.

  21. N. O'Brain says:

But that would be a conspiracy thory, wouldn’t it?

  22. Eric J says:

Really which scenario is more likely? Obama is killed by a right-wing racist for being black, or killed by jihadists for being (according to them) an apostate Muslim?

  23. SDN says:

Carin, I agree with your husband; I just think it will happen before the Democratic convention. I mean, what’s the downside? Bush will get the blame and Hildebeeste gets the bennies. What’s not to love?

  24. Could it be that conspiracy theories about the Kennedy assasination were encouraged becaused they distract from the fact that the real assasin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was a flaming, commited leftist?

have I mentioned this before? I dunno, but I read an article years ago that claimed that the JFK assassination conspiracy theories were planted by the KGB. to make us not trust our government.

  25. Scrapiron says:

Since I was of age and on the road (Deadwood SD) the day Kennedy was shot I’ve heard all the tales. The best and most believable one is that he was whacked by the democrat controlled Mafia because he was crossing them, then his brother got it from the same source for the same reason.

  26. geoffb says:

    “Hildebeeste gets the bennies”

So it’s actually a rerun of 1963-64, not ’76 with Hillary as LBJ. “Landslide Hill” here we come.

  27. MNF-I-REMF says:

A friend was at a lunch of some leadership organization back during the campaign of ’04. Sat next to a senior Secret Service official, who told him the assessed threat level to the president was the greatest ever seen. Levels of resources and commitments to protecting Dubya were unprecedented. Have no reason to doubt either source, though who knows if the claims were accurate. In any case it certainly is logical, given the insanity of BDS that was peaking at the time. Everyone remember that?

  28. geoffb says:

I remember going to a Bush campaign event in the summer of 2004 and no one could park with in blocks of the event. A huge line waiting to be screened by metal detectors and all bags gone through and any prohibited items left at the gate. Everything went smooth and efficient. Where we sat was in a special section for wheelchairs, my wife is in one, and next to us was what I assumed to be a Secret Service Agent as he looked the part and his eyes were always on the crowd not the speakers. After it finished I told him thank you for the job he was doing. My wife asked why I said that as she had had no idea that an agent had been sitting next to us.

  29. what I assumed to be a Secret Service Agent as he looked the part

RTO is always telling people that G-men must all come out of the same cookie cutter. Having grown up with one, he has an easy time spotting them. I think it’s mostly the posture.

  30. geoffb says:

I figure some are meant to be seen and others are there blending in with the crowd and not seen.

  31. yeah, meant to. RTO’s mom usually tells a story about being in an airport once (can’t remember where) and her friend told her she’d heard there were undercover agents there usually. So his mom points a couple out, and they decided to stop her and ask her how she spotted them.

  32. Wasn’t this a Robin Williams bit in like, 1985? Or was it Eddie Murphy?

By “other nations,” you mean residents of Manhattan, San Fran, D.C., Boston, Academia and the MSM, right?
