New opportunities beckon

…for our old friend Jason Leopold:

To Our Readership and Friends,

Jason Leopold is no longer employed by Truthout.

Jason is a truly gifted reporter, and his efforts on behalf of Truthout have been greatly appreciated.

There may be some speculation that this announcement is connected in some way to Truthout’s reporting of the Karl Rove indictment matter. It is not. At the time of our reporting on the Rove matter we stood by the factual accuracy of our reports, and we stand by them now.

— Really? That must mean the clock is still ticking on that impending Rove indictment.

WE SHALL HAVE OUR FROGMARCH YET, COMRADES! INEVITABILITY AND HISTORY! TRUST YOUR INNER HEGEL!

We sincerely wish Jason the best of luck.

Marc Ash, Executive Director – t r u t h o u t

Oh well. Truthout’s loss is likely Olbermann’s gain. Unless, say, some North Korean outfit snaps him up first.

Let the bidding begin!

I bid 2 hairpins, some pocket lint, and an altoid that fell behind the sofa

  4. MayBee says:

Valerie Plame can hire him as press secretary when she is made Hillary’s DNI.

  5. Kirk says:

You must not like Altoids as much as I do. Even fuzzy ones.

  6. Hoodlumman says:

He should keep his resume Sealed vs. Sealed.

It could happen. Even North Korea has its useful idiots.

  8. JD says:

Rove, you magnificent bastard. How did you manage to go all this time and hide that indictment from Jason?

  9. sashal says:

not commenting on Rove’s behaviour, criminal or not . But note , Jeff, that Justice sometimes takes a long time to come to fruition.
How many years it took Mossad to get Eichmann ?
And many unfortunately got away completely.
    Stalin died unpunished,
so the stupidity or naivete of Jason Leopold, does not prove the innocence of the other guy…..

  10. happyfeet says:

Justice sometimes takes a long time to come to fruition.

You obviously don’t watch Law & Order.

  11. Alcyoneus says:

Sashal, innocence doesn’t need to be proven, guilt does. Your’re dumb.

  12. sashal says:

    true, HF, true….
But my friends watch reruns, so I’ll ask them

  13. daleyrocks says:

Matbe he’s gone into the import/export business to support his habit.

  14. McGehee says:

Sashal, are you seriously comparing Karl Rove to Adolf Eichmann and Josef Stalin?

How many people has Rove frogmarched into death camps or gulags?

  15. sashal says:

no, mcGehee, I was just saying that the idiotism or stupidity of one guy -Jason, is not proving anything, and sometime justice takes a long time to catch up with people, being that Stalin, or Putin or Rove…..
I was not talking about the specifics of crimes committed.
Some were mass murderers, some just a fucking liars compromising national security, etc, etc,

  16. JD says:

some just a fucking liars compromising national security

    Prove it.

When did proving innocence become our standard? I got it … sashal fucks goats. Prove that you don’t!

  17. JD says:

some just a fucking liars compromising national security

Yes, it appears to be taking a while for justice to catch up to Armitage and Wilson, sashal.

  18. JD says:

sashal claims Jason is an idiot. Bravo. Some might call him an outright fucking liar, but idiot is a good first step for people like sashal.

McG – Though they lump Rove in with Eichmann and Stalin, they are in no way comparing him to them. Nope.

  19. sashal says:

and some will completely escape, JD.
    Remember O.J?
It puzzles me how Armitage avoided any responsibility as well…..

  20. happyfeet says:

Oh. This is Jason. My mom would be mad if she knew I was making fun.

  21. happyfeet says:

Which I’m not. I’m so not. I’m concerned is all.

  22. Dan Collins says:

Poor guy. Looks like Woody Allen’s mongoloid brother.

  23. Dan Collins says:

And I mean that in the nicest way.

  24. McGehee says:

idiot is a good first step for people like sashal.

Which, you’d think sashal would have some sympathy for JL.

  25. alppuccino says:

Those poor goats. They don’t like that sashal. Na-a-a-a-a- means no!

  26. Topsecretk9 says:

Lady Elaine Facts in the land of make believe.

  27. JD says:

we stood by the factual accuracy of our reports, and we stand by them now

How can they say that with a straight face? That is like the hacks at TNR maintaining that Beauchamp confirmed his story, even in the face of him denying his story.

  28. Dan Collins says:

    Typo. They meant actual faccuracy.

  29. JD says:

Does actual faccuracy mean that they made shit up?

  30. Pablo says:

no, mcGehee, I was just saying that the idiotism or stupidity of one guy -Jason, is not proving anything, and sometime justice takes a long time to catch up with people, being that Stalin, or Putin or Rove…..

You might want to have a word with Patrick “Case Closed” Fitzgerald.

  31. bigbooner says:

Mary Mapes could not be reached for comment.

  32. Pablo says:

If Jason really needs a gig, I gots some socks what need washing. But I don’t know if I could trust that fucker to pair ’em back up.

  33. Jeff G. says:

He’d pair them up all right — then tie that collusion to a rightwing conspiracy involving boxer briefs and a Tucker Carlson bow tie.

  34. They’ll get Karl Rove! and his little dog too!

  35. happyfeet says:

He does get excited doesn’t he? You gotta wonder though if with Bush on the way out lots of these outfits are just gonna have to downshift a bit.

  36. mojo says:

    “KCNA’s new North American reporter…”

  37. Rob Crawford says:

You gotta wonder though if with Bush on the way out lots of these outfits are just gonna have to downshift a bit.

They’ll either spend their time going after McCain or demanding Obama throw everyone who served in the Bush administration into prison — never mind trials, charges, evidence, or all that.

  38. happyfeet says:

I just don’t see the audience showing up. Then again, Full House and all.

  39. happyfeet says:

    Dan too.

  40. Topsecretk9 says:

Where the left’s Fraccuracy comes from. Hoo hoo…chuga chuga..hoo hoo

  41. M. Simon says:

No Quarter? He should also write for their sister publication No Dime Either.

  42. Topsecretk9 says:

Remember who Leopold’s sources for Rove indictment sealed vs. sealed were…

    t r o u t h o u t s says

I would have explained how Joseph Wilson independently verified a half dozen other sources, none of whom are connected. We had a guy **deleted*

    and

    Larry_Johnson (1 posts)

It is not just Jason Leopold. Joe Wilson heard the same from other sources. And, more importantly, Jason is reporting based on multiple, more than two, sources. His editors realized what a big story this is and did the appropriate checking before posting. They are called Truth Out for a reason. Getting the truth out.

These 2 – Joe Wilson and Scary Larry Johnson – being the on the crack “Elect” Hillary team Hillary has assembled.

Shows good judgement on Hillary’s part don’t you think?

  43. Sean M. says:

These 2 – Joe Wilson and Scary Larry Johnson – being the on the crackhead “Elect” Hillary team Hillary has assembled.

    Fixed that for you.

  44. Topsecretk9 says:

    Sean M

    crack or something.

  45. daleyrocks says:

Doesn’t Scary need a license for being criminally, crushingly, embarrassingly stupid in public or something? Can we make a citizen’s arrest?

  46. Topsecretk9 says:

Doesn’t Scary need a license for being criminally

Daley…duh and super double dutch duh!

  47. Topsecretk9 says:

    O heck, I can’t stop being silly…this one’s priceless

  48. happyfeet says:

That’s really sad. But that’s kind of brave, really. To go out of your house like that. I don’t think I would be that strong.

  49. Topsecretk9 says:

Oh come on Happy! This is some prime US choice CIA intelligence paramilitary coup trained involved here. The potbelly is a false flag, it’s the CIA’s way of tricking the enemy.

  50. daleyrocks says:

    That pot belly can kill!

  51. The potbelly is a false flag, it’s the CIA’s way of tricking the enemy.

I’m savin’ that for the next time I have to buy larger pants.

    *sob*

on the plus side, I never published a column about how terrorism wasn’t such a big deal shortly before September 11, 2001.

  52. happyfeet says:

Oh yeah. Him too but I meant the guy that looks like he had Styx cranked up loud in his K car on the way over.

  53. XBradTC says:

Fuck you, happyfeet. I had a K Car and I liked styx. It’s not like I grew up hoping my life would turn out that way.

  54. I had a K Car and I liked styx.

I think the past tense here is what’s important. ;D

  55. happyfeet says:

Sometimes I just don’t think. I kind of had you pegged more as an ELO guy though.

  56. XBradTC says:

Thanks Maggie,we all have things in our pasts that should stay there. Happy, ELO wouldn’t be my FIRST choice, but I did get laid to it once (in the K-Car) so I have fond memories.

  57. clarice says:

Maybe he and his friend David Shuster can now work together fulltime on their hard hitting breaking news stories.

  58. BJTexs says:

Jason Leopold needs to get back to basics, start slow and be dead on. He can redeem himself!

“Multiple sources indicate that most farts smell bad.”
