Dems 2008: The Clinton Insurgency [Karl]

TPM’s Greg Sargent reports that in the Clinton campaign conference call, pollster Mark Penn repeatedly said Obama was becoming an “establishment candidate.”

The Carpetbagger Report, its commenters  (and commenters at TPM) seem to think that is a bit of a stretch, to put it charitably.

Apparently, left-liberals have already forgotten that Bill Clinton was suggesting Obama was the “establishment candidate” even before the Nevada caucus.

The Clintons continue to make themselves a laughing-stock, the object of mockery.  Clintonian über-spin is so 1990s.

Hillary seems screwed a lot to me cause they and their media pals took foreign policy so much off the table. She was stupid to let that happen if she wanted to highlight Baracky’s callowness.

How is this surprising? The left has never found it in their hearts to square the circle of Clinton’s statements at times N and N-1.

I’m beginning to think there is a slow dawning of comprehension in the Democratic and Independant ranks when it comes Dynasty Clinton:

    1) Hillary ain’t Bill.
    2) Bill really isn’t Bill anymore and is showing signs of age induced loopiness.
    3) The idea of a dynastic regime after Bushitler’s is less appealing by the hour.
    4) Barack’s black identity is slowly trumping Hillary’s gender identity.
    5) Independants and moderates may just like McCain better than her (assuming they stay clueless.)
    6) Barack inspires in his changelicious hopefulness. Hillary? Not so much.
    7) A lot of white male liberals are finding comfort in voting truth to power for historic racial diversity, which provides cover for their secret dislike of or discomfort with the Hildebeast.
    8) Clinton organization media armtwisting has finally come back to haunt them as the press (gleefully?) annoints Obama messiah and “tingly” status.
    9) Edward’s people know who they have to support. Messiah!

None of the above is scientific (more like stream of consciousness) but it should reflect all of the good work Karl has been doing during this primary.

Feel free to pick apart at y’all’s leisure.

    Rob,

I did not write that it was surprising, though the fact that more and more left-libs are calling out the Clintons on their more patent uber-spin suggests that it might be mildly surprising. Baby steps, I guess.

  5. Squid says:

    2) Bill really isn’t Bill anymore and is showing signs of age induced loopiness.

I don’t know. Has he been tested for syph?

  6. kelly says:

    Thanks for the laff, Squid!

  7. Pablo says:

So it’s over. Romney is out.

Does anyone remember how Rip van Winkle got to sleep?

  8. McGehee says:

    Everclear.

    IIRC, and who does?

  9. BJTexs says:

Does anybody know if they’ve worked out the bugs with regards to cryogenic freezing?

I only need four years … or so …

  10. Barbula says:

I’m sorry BJTexs, but I disagree.

There are more caucasian vaginas than black people in America.

    Basic politics.

  11. Tom Jones says:

There are more caucasian vaginas than black people in America.

And I’ve seen all of them.

    ….what’s new pussy……..

  12. BJTexs says:

Ah, Barbula, but combine Blacks with the aforemetioned white male libs and the young vaginas and there are not enough older hippie chick vaginas to compensate.

    Veeeeeerrrry scientific.

  13. Gabriel Fry says:

Veeeeeerrrry kinky, is what it is, BJ. But as to your earlier point, my discomfort with the Hildebeest is not secret, nor is it couched in terms as mild as “discomfort.” I still can’t believe she made it this far. I blame the vast right-wing conspiracy, and I make no apologies for that.

  14. BJTexs says:

    Gabriel:

I have a great friend who is new school liberal (Anti-war, pro gov. health care, higher taxes, etc.) and a big Obama guy. He can’t stand Hillary even a little bit and regularly refers to her as “the virus.” While my list was a little tongue in cheek (I envisioned some nebbishy white male liberal with his uber-feminist life partner explaining the historical importance of elected teh black man over the sistah) the white male liberal to moderate vote may very well make the difference in carrying Obama to the nomination. There are a lot of guys who would vote Democrat who just can’t stand the woman, I suspect.

You, sir, are in good company. (and Barbula started the whole vaginal thing.)

  15. BJTexs says:

    BTW: Rush’s new campaign slogan:

“KEEP HER IN IT SO WE CAN WIN IT!!”

    Heh!

  16. Barbula says:

I think many women may be temporarily swayed by the gentle, confident, Shower Fresh, all day feeling that Obama gives them, but when they get in the voting booth the vagina will roar.

    Basic biology.

  17. McGehee says:

    the vagina will roar.

I’m going to be having nightmares for weeks.

  18. Rusty says:

I don’t think Hillary has one of those.

  19. JD says:

Quit talking about Amanda like that. You are making me sick !

  20. Humus says:

I don’t think Obama should be tagged as an “establishment candidate.” He just lacks experience but he’s not dull.

  21. Rusty says:

Oh. JD. I know Amanda has one because she has a wackin’ big vibrator which goes up to 4. So there.

  22. JD says:

Thanks, Rusty. Eric Gordon sucks too. And Amanda.
