I couldn’t remember the character, but Jeff is right. It’s that Ed guy. Honestly, I lost interest in SNL sometime around /after Dennis Miller’s time on the show. I continued to watch for a bit only to see the musical guests, but as they turned into, most often, rap or other crap, I stopped watching altogether.
It seems there was a time the musical guests were more cutting edge. I guess, after a while, they needed the big names to get people to watch.
“Stuart Saves His Family”
As for the why that the previous commenters forgot to add, horribly unfunny sketches given a larger budget with the same unfunny garbage recycled into 96 minutes on the big screen with the “star” being Al Franken.
Any list of Top 10 movies of all time that does not include The Blues Brothers, Animal House, Tombstone, American Pie and all its progeny, and Better Off Dead is a list I do not care about.
I’m just glad they never decided to make a feature film out of those godawful Will Ferrel-Cheri Oteri cheerleader skits. While SNL headed up the ramp a thousand times before, that was when it really, finally jumped the shark for me.

Actually, since that is ten movies, I think the phrase “does not include” should be amended to “is totally comprised of”.
But “American Pie VI: Beta House”? RLY? I would think the inclusion of Christopher McDonald would automatically exclude it from any kind of “Top Ten” list.
No question – Molly Shannon in “Superstar”
I’ve got “It’s Pat.” Because it was unwatchable.
Let’s not forget Ladies Man or Night at Roxbury
Possibly the Cone Heads
It’s Pat. Only funny for about 3 seconds of the small screen.
Ed Grimley. Grim.
The only thing we have to know is that Wayne’s World is the best.
Oh, I know. It’s the one with the guy that did that thing.
I hate that guy.
Pablo nails it followed by the Jeff guy.

The Blues Brothers was one of the greatest movies in the history of cinema. I didn’t like any of the other stuff I have seen.

I am dust. I am the forgotten memories of past lives. I am ancient.
I remember when Saturday Night Live was funny.
Disclaimer: 1978 didn’t lend itself to spontaneous outbursts of laughter & stuff like that.
Zoolander was the best.
I’ll vote for the Blues Brothers as well for the best. Maybe too much of the voting crowd is too young to remember when it came out.
Wayne’s World was good. The Blues Brothers was historic, a cinematic tour de force. A must see! Three thumbs up!
If you only see one movie in 1980, this is the one to see.
The Coneheads gets my vote for most disappointing. I had an expectation or two for that one.

I forget what it was called, but it was the one that wasn’t “The Blues Brothers.”
What? There were?
Okay, then. All of those.
Well, It’s Pat was horrific. I don’t know if Dr Detroit was an SNL bit but it was the worst movie since The Dark Backward.
And yeah Superstar was terrible. The skits were awful too, who thought this would make a motion picture?

Hideous, and not the least bit funny.
Blues Brothers 2000.
Aretha should’ve sang “S C R I P T, that is what you need to read”

OK, I have to confess. I have never liked Blues Brothers.
You know, I just can’t watch anything with Dan Akroyd in it without cringing.
