GOP 2008: Let’s have some horse race from Florida [Karl]

Just because I prefer stories about the ground game is no reason to ignore those horse race polls entirely.  Following a rash of new polls in Florida, the RCP average currently has Sen. John McCain’s lead over Mitt Romney down to +0.4.  Marc Ambinder says the St. Petersburg Times/Miami Herald poll was conducted by Rob Schroth and Tom Eldon, generally considered the best of the non-partisan political pollsters in the state.  That poll has McCain leading by 2%, but with a +/- 5% margin of error.   A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida — the first taken after Fred Thompson ended his presidential bid — shows Romney leading (again within the margin of error) with 28%, followed by McCain at 25%, Rudy Giuliani at 19% and Mike Huckabee at 15%.

Could somebody get David Brooks a Valium?  The poobahs are at the gate.

Speaking as a diehard, heart-broken Fredhead, I think Romney then Rudy are going to get almost all of the fallout votes. The people who think Fred was stealing votes from Huckabee are pretty clueless by my estimation.

There are Rudy fans in every state, but he has to win Florida first!

The truth in Reinfeldt’s argument is that many EU countries are not doing very much at all. Even the UK, despite being a very visible and vocal actor on the world’s climate stage, currently only produces 2% of its energy from renewable sources, tied with Belgium and Italy for the low ranks. They will all have to increase to 15% by 2020, under this new EU initiative.
