Those of you curious as to how the Democratic Party’s curiously strong blend of identity politics and alleged union intimidation is playing out at the moment in Nevada can get continually updated results by county right from the donkey’s mouth.
IIRC, Clark County is Vegas and Washoe County is Reno.
Washoe was the first talking monkey.
I stand corrected.
Beyond the big story of the Hillary/Obama/union fracas: Edwards is finished. For all the time and money he spent in NV, he’s going to end up in the mid-single digits.
I would note that at the moment, the caucus seems to shaping up as an example of the overall dynamic of the race — Clinton vs. NotClinton, with the latter falling just short of Clinton. But with proportional allocation of delegates, the count will remain close.
Edwards is finished is a bit redundant. Outside of himself and his wife, he was never a viable candidate.
Let’s just rename the parties the “Fascist Menopausal Honkies” and the “Self-Hating-Liberal Religious Idiots” and cut the shit.
Biggest. Mancrush. Ever.
I hope that doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable.
question – Is it better for a party to pick their candidate early? Or, is it better for the voters to begin to coalesce and align behind a candidate?
I think the ceremony of innocence has been waterboarded to where I’m not sure it really matters. But I’m in kind of a mood today.
Don’t forget Kevin Bacon and Tim Robbins.
And Christopher Reeve.
JD,
An interesting question. I may do a post on it in the next few days.
I think the media weighed in with their answer. A Clinton coronation would have been the easiest thing in the world, but they opted for a race that started right after the 2006 midterms so they had an unending and flexible supply of easy anti-Bush newshooks. Same on the R side just with Huckabee’s “arrogant White House” and Jesusyness to play with and Ron Paul’s isolationism to banter about and also of course is America ready for a Mormon president … no way there was gonna be any coalescing if they had anything to do with it.
Mike C-

I’m officially depressed.
“Populist” John Edwards gets 4% from Dem voters— while “Populist” Huckleberry gets 15-20% from Repub voters…
