as much as the next blogger (does), but is it at all discordant that when Atrios puts down Matthews by feminizing him as “Chrissy”, Melissa McEwen responds with adulation (towards Atrios)? Prolly just about as funny as dead Mr. Coulter’s daughter’s balls?
Atrios is still around?
Open thread.
Is it just me or does McEwen’s picture look like a still from “The Blair Witch Project?”
I’m overwhelmed by the homicidal cuteness of Atrios refering to Romney as “mittens.” I shall hug me a gerbil before I blow my brains out.
Atriosy?
When I make fun of somebody, it’s because they’re evil and stupid and richly deserving of my petty ridicule. You can’t force me to respect somebody that wrong-headed and stupid about everything important.
When you make fun of somebody, it’s because you’re petty and immature and self-loathing and bigoted and homophobic. You have to respect your rivals, who are enlightened and right about everything important.
Honestly, I don’t see why this is so hard to understand. It’s all perfectly consistent and fair. And enlightened. And good.
Oh, and that I and you thing can totally be translated to my tribe and your tribe. I would have mentioned it in the first note, but I didn’t want to confuse your tiny little brain.
Which I’m allowed to make fun of you for, because I’m clever and right, and you’re stupid and evil. See?
Shesh. What’s the big deal? It’s not like Atrios used “pouffy” to describe him.
That really should read that McEwan “adulates” Atrios. That is how Ellers would write it and he is the authority on semantics, having written the best-selling book, etc.
GOOD DAY, SIR!!!
Chris Matthews has like a LOT more money than Atrios and is generally all around entrusted with more of society’s resources. I think he basically owns that Sunday show he syndicates. Which really is not my point. My point is that I generally applaud hatefulness directed at people like Chris Matthews, and I don’t think there’s any reason it should have to be particularly fair. These people are superfluous. I can’t remember ever crying when one died.
The Jessica Savage thing was the closest one to sad I think but it turned out later that if you had suspected she was a neurotic bitch you were spot-on.
I believe “Dunky” is what you’re looking for.
Atrios strikes me as being the sort of chap that we wingnuts are accused of being: constantly puffing up his masculinity (recall his MAD-lusting bellicosity regarding Iran’s nukes) to hide, well…
…maybe I should just shut up before we have another six-post debate over “manliness”.
