The top story at Memeorandum at the moment is a comment by NY Attorney General Andrew Cuomo — a prominent Clinton supporter– on the NH primary (and possibly the IA caucus):
“It’s not a TV crazed race. Frankly you can’t buy your way into it,†Cuomo said. “You can’t shuck and jive at a press conference,†he added. “All those moves you can make with the press don’t work when you’re in someone’s living room.†(Emphasis added.)
While Cuomo’s office claims this was a general comment not directed at Obama, the general reax from Lefty bloggers is skeptical, to say the least.
And why shouldn’t they be skeptical? The Clinton machine is not known for running sloppy, undiciplined campaigns. Yet we have recently had former Senator and Clinton endorser Bob Kerrey making comments that some saw as Muslim-baiting. We also had Hillary for President Co-Chair Bill Shaheen resign after suggesting that Obama’s candor about his past drug use would open the door to GOP attacks, only to have Clinton pollster and adviser Mark Penn mention Obama’s cocaine use repeatedly on television. Dan Riehl catches Clinton’s recent comment that Obama has “not done the spade work” to back up his promises.
With due respect to Dan Riehl, that last one might be a stretch. At post-time the blogosphere had yet to get a ruling on this pattern from master linguist — and sock-puppeteer — Ellers McEllerson.
Has anyone accused Obama of carrying water for Richard Mellon Scaife?
‘Cause that would be one of them code phrases, like Huckabee uses to signal his secret-decoder-ring-wearing evangelical supporters that when he’s elected everyone in America will either be dunked or be deported.
Subliminal campaigning. Heavy, man…
Indeed, let’s not be niggardly about skepticism for the spade work comment.
The Dems are attaching themselves to all sorts of tar babies.
Obama doesn’t cotton to this sort of thing.

Everyone involved has an obligation to be more articulate.
Maybe a detergent company could buy commercial time during one of the debates, and revive the slogan: “makes whites whiter, and coloreds brighter”
That commercial could star Joe Biden.
Live by identity politics, die by identity politics.
Not that bigotry and tactlessness don’t overlap at times; but I’m sure snickering and giggling behind the ‘puter screen as I lurk on some Lefty sites who are tieing themselves into knots over Cuomo’s gaffe.
I know he’s trying to be all Lean On Me but really he’s like already playing himself in his own made-for-tv movie, and I mean more like the cable ones than like something you might try counterprogramming Grey’s Anatomy with.
Macaca!
Cuomo ought to know better than to stray off of the plantaion.
You see, it’s comments like the above that will cause Obama’s supporters to be whipped into frenzy.
Andrew Cuomo speaks jive?
I’m surprised more people haven’t been Muslim baiting – makes ’em easier to catch.
Well, it’s no secret that the newsrooms are packed full of master baiters.
Only in sign language.
What, you didn’t know everyone calls him Willie?
