Andrew Sullivan on Colbert [Dan Collins]

He apparently doesn’t have a mouse in his pocket.

Would it have killed you to explain why this is significant, or even what it means? I know about Gere and the gerbil myth, but I don’t get the impression that’s where that comment was leading. So what does a mouse, or lack of a mouse, in your pocket mean?

  2. Dan Collins says:

Ask Colbert. He’s the one who asked Andrew if he had a mouse in his pocket.

    Geez.

Jeebus, PW is holding the linky comment. You can see the video if you fix the URL. Or Dan can do an update.

  5. so, um, just curious here, but is Mr. Sullivan a U.S. citizen or does he just live here and try to tell us all what to do? I didn’t see anything in his bio about it.

  6. Darleen says:

Colbert: “Some of us are still proud of America”

    zing

  7. happyfeet says:

I don’t think he’s American just cause I’m pretty sure we’d know all about it and it would be some sort of testament to him somehow.

Has anyone posted this one? Sorry if this is recycled…

And that is why part of me, I confess, wants Huckabee to win. So he can lose. So the GOP can lose – as spectacularly and humiliatingly as possible. If we are to rid conservatism of this theocratic cancer, we need to start over. Maybe it has to get worse before it can get better. But it is certainly too late for fellow-traveling Christianists like Lowry and Krauthammer to start whining now. This is their party. And they asked for every last bit of it.

    He’s really a dick I think.

I think ‘feet’s coming onto Andrew.

  9. happyfeet says:

dear andrew I liked you too much. I used to be attracted to boys who would lie to me and think solely about themselves and you were plenty self-destructive for my taste at the time I used to say the more tragic the better. Truth is whenever I think of the early 90’s your face comes up with a vengeance like it was yesterday…

  10. happyfeet says:

Which is to say I used to think he was pretty damn cool. But he degenerated.

  11. happyfeet says:

Now that I think about it it really is tragic. I remember I had a TNR subscription at a stupid-young age cause of him. I think he was like the youngest TNR editor ever at the time or something. And today was the first time I clicked to any of his stuff in literally years cause maggie was wondering if he was a US citizen and I kind of thought that he was but then decided he wasn’t. I think the beagle is though.

  12. VRWC Drone says:

Per Sully’s wiki entry (and the referenced links), he is not a US citizen. He’d like to be, but is ineligible because of his positive-HIV status.

Apparently he thinks he can tell us what to do because he really really really wants to be one of us.

    And I second Darleen’s zing.

Lowry and Krauthammer are “Christianists”? The definition of that must be “folks who disagree with Sullivan”; I’ve certainly never seen any sign that either of them are Christian identity types.
