It’s a smart idea, though I would much prefer an amendment that did away with automatic withholdings. If people had an idea about what they were actually paying to the government — instead of falling into the status quo trap of simply accepting their take home pay as their take home pay (most people don’t even really do the math) — I suspect they’d quickly re-embrace the free market system,
