We’re actually in the middle of an ice age….this is just a warm interval. Someday soon (in geological times) Detroit and Chicago are going to be covered with a mile of ice again.
At the risk of abusing your hospitality a second time, here’s another observation I would like to make.
Republican candidates still seem to me to be more than hesitant to treat media aparatchiks as hostiles even when the latters’ questions are pretty overtly so. It’s seems to me, with the appearance of that failed priest’s clip that this was a bit of a setup. Yet, it seemed to me that Ms Fioina was either on her back foot or way too respectful of her questioner.
Mr. Todd strikes me as someone who is not nearly so bright as he thinks he is. So, my advice to Ms. Fiorina and others so situated would be that, when so challenged under the guise of the media wanting to help the populace become well informed as opposed to feathering the formers’ nests, is to go after the “questioner” as the enemy he/she/whatever is. To wit, “Well, it would be helpful to my answering if you would explain what you mean by “Climate change” and how it’s different from its predecessor “Anthropomorphic Global Warming” and why that latter appellation is so rarely used these more enlightened days.
Respect should be a two-way street. If those in the media want “to make a difference” while hiding under the sheepskin of our Constitution, well then candidates should make a effort to ensure that their questioners have some of their own “skin in the game” as a famous President once said. It is only some degree of unpleasantness that will change what is now a kind of mindless acceptance of despicable media behavior.
One last “For instance” if I may. Last week !Jeb! Bush was challenged by some kind of a media representative for his use of the term “anchor baby”. Mr. Bush’s reply was curt and abrupt and full of a bit of what my father taught me was a “healthy disrespect”. But the more interesting part showed up Friday evening on the local Progressive (née Public) Broadcasting System affiliate in a program called Washing Week or some such. There and then, the moderator, Gwen Ifill (or is it Eyefull) felt it necessary to come to the reporter’s defense, basically validating the attack-question/statement. So, that type of healthy disrespect (embarrassing as it may be) does seem to register.
gahrie: exactly! Ever since I found out that we are currently in (an interglacial of) an Ice Age, I’ve been wondering why we’re even talking about “climate change”.
The interglacial will end soonish (couple thousand years, or maybe tomorrow) and the northern US will be covered in a mile of ice again. (Hey, but the ocean level should subside, so maybe the Maldives will shut up already.)
Whenever the Ice Age ends (in 10s of millions of years), Earth will go back to its ‘normal’ climate of much higher temps and no ice anywhere… see Waterworld.
And no amount of Prius-driving is going to do jack shit to prevent either scenario.
Of the Satanists who “waterboarded” women in milk during the pro-PP protests, Rabbi Lapin (via Beck) says that they’re unwittingly (or quasi-knowingly) repeating ancient Molech/Baalim rituals that were associated with death over life.
The injunction against seething a calf in its mother’s milk was part of the Mosaic Law’s ritual separation of death from life—milk being life-giving, but a boiling calf being dead for eating.
Hence the separation of meat from dairy in all kosher kitchens.
Similarly, the OWS occupation of a cathedral wherein they smeared feces all over, was in similitude to the ancient pagan inattention to proper sanitation: YHWH insisted that the Hebrew soldiers carry little shovels to bury their waste.
Funny a liberal Facebook friend posted an ancient Pat Robertson quote (1992):
“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians”
OK, eye roller but, then I saw the Satanist thing and I wonder how far off he was.
So true but, worthless to point out the truth to the particular “friend” who has long given up any tolerance for criticism of his beliefs.
He did not even like me using anecdotal evidence from my personal experience that any news item I had first hand info on had dreadful errors in fact. Considering that we were discussing errors in ferret news reporting it was odd that he instantly went into defense mode for his beloved journalism past (he was a photojournalist).
His defense was that no one bothers to send corrective info to the papers. Hah. Like they would give you full attention and follow up and put a correction on page 1. Right. Once something goes out in a newspaper, it is like feathers in the wind.
oh god just for this i love her more than beans
but i’m still not gonna stoop to the obama/palin presidency standard where some charismatic no-account gets my vote
i want proven leadership
and that’s not a big ask, really
>i want proven leadership<
so your not voting for a "ruining class" candidate?
and it is ” ef chuck tard”
i’ll vote for walker
that is all
let’s be real
the stakes aren’t terribly high anymore
we’re all just bickering about which direction failmerica’s gonna swirl down the toilet
it’s called math
>it’s called math<
common core/communist math or math/math? let a million snowflakes spring!

You mean like since the Ice Age
We’re actually in the middle of an ice age….this is just a warm interval. Someday soon (in geological times) Detroit and Chicago are going to be covered with a mile of ice again.
Maybe I’m wrong, but hasn’t this been a rather long interglacial?
I realize that’s a bit like asking if the Yellowstone Caldera isn’t overdue for an eruption.
Methinks we’re more due for a SMOD.

Sit on it and rotate, coriolisfoot.
We were in a drought the first time Jerry was governor. The difference between now and then is more people. Jerry is lying and he knows he is lying.
Solid advice, 11B40.
Not following it means you accept their Narrative. They don’t deserve that kind of Respect because their aim is not Honest, Decent, and True.
Agitate. Agitate. Agitate.

So, yeah.
I certainly have no problem with any self resepcting Republican prefacing every answer to every question with “Jane you ignorant slut.”
I imagine the overly paid professional electioneers would soil themselves, however.
Depends, Ernst, Depends….
!Jeb!
FYI, to do the upside-down exclamation point, in Windows it’s Alt+0161.
Or U=00A1 for those inclined to unicode.

I say we get a Kickstarter going for anyone who dares do it in earnest, without alluding to the fact that it’s a joke.
Trump doesn’t need your money. And he only calls Megan an ignorant slut out of spite.

“…and every word of that is true,” as RS McCain has exhaustively documented.

Whither the editors?
Layers and layers of the little blue-pencileers.
