Shorter Obama — You’re a bad person to do the best for your kids. Me? You’re kidding, right? [Darleen Click]

RCP

On Tuesday, President Obama participated in the Catholic-Evangelical Leadership Summit on Overcoming Poverty at Georgetown University in Washington. While many topics were discussed, including the media, the president addressed the impact children attending private schools have on the “opportunity” for other children.

Obama also said a private school education leads to “an anti-government ideology.”

“What’s happened in our economy is that those who are doing better and better… are withdrawing from sort of the commons,” Obama said. “Kids start going to private schools; kids start working out at private clubs instead of the public parks. An anti-government ideology then disinvests from those common goods and those things that draw us together. And that, in part, contributes to the fact that there’s less opportunity for our kids, all of our kids.”

President Obama attended private schools in Hawaii and his children currently attend the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington.

The ostensible lack of self-awareness from Obama with this statement (along with his usual “you didn’t build it” “society’s lottery winners” “you need to know when you’ve made enough”) is really something more. IMHO he just doesn’t see himself as one of “us.” There are standards for him & his, and another set of standards for everyone else.

I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced a Presidency where the family has lived, traveled and vacationed so lavishly (and hobnobbed with celebs) — especially while making derisive remarks about people who actually EARN their wealth.

If some people are removing themselves from “the commons” it is because Government has taken over the commons and it has become filth.

Obama also said a private school education leads to “an anti-government ideology.”

Translation: Malia and Sasha and getting smart-mouthed. (That’s not anti-government, that’s just teenagers being teenagers.) And I can only presume his own “anti-government ideology” eventually transmuted into his anti-American ideology.

If you want to spend your money on what you want instead of what we want, you’re greedy.

If you want to live your life they way you want and not the way we want you to, you’re the oppressor.

  3. cranky-d says:

The Founders had an anti-government ideology. That’s why they sucked.

    Right, Mr. President?

  4. More proof that The United States is dead and we must act accordingly.

Damn Barry Soetoro to the Hell he so richly deserves.

  8. What amazes me isn’t the not-Shinola that he spouts, but the fact that he’s gone so long spouting it without being called on it that be now believes that it really IS Shinola.

  9. There is no bigger fool than the fool who thinks he’s the smartest person in the room.

In his mind, if he says it, that makes it IS-Shinola. If anyone else says the exact same thing — even if it really were is-Shinola — he would denounce it as not-Shinola.

It isn’t simply that he’s never been called on it. He’s been told all his life that only his saying something makes it worth saying, no matter what it might be.

If an evil genius has decided that the world must burn, and has the intellect and resources to make it happen, he still needs to consider the possibility that he is mistaken. Because if he is mistaken in his purpose he will also be mistaken at some point in his means.
