That’s okay, April. I can’t understand how a black woman can support the party of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow laws, the blocking of civil rights legislation, the elevation of a Klan Grand Kleagle to Senate Majority Leader, and the eugenics of Margaret Sanger, who founded planned parenthood to rid the country of as many mongrel babies as was possible — a party that oversees the consistent increase in welfare recipients, foodstamp recipients, and high unemployment in the black community.
I guess we all have our head scratchers.
But that’s all just prelude. Because it turns out Sands, who violated the Hatch Act, has had her hard drive “recycled,” too. And yet still, no special investigative committee or independent prosecutor — marking both parties as reluctant to bring out any of the “deep logic” hiding inside the IRS’s targeting of conservative / TEA Party groups. Which, as I’ve repeatedly surmised, was a bipartisan effort — though Republicans likely were guilty more of indifference or tacit acceptance than the left, whose attempts at shutting down debate, be it through racialism or PC mandated language and a shame culture, are in a very real sense anti-American.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, today pressed the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on yet another hard drive crash of an employee who disparaged Republicans and campaigned for President Obama in violation of the Hatch Act, which states that federal employees should not conduct political activities during work hours.
“As a part of a settlement agreement with the [Office of Special Counsel], Ms. [April] Sands admitted to violating the Hatch Act by soliciting political contributions via Twitter, conducting political activity through her Twitter account, and participating in a political discussion ‘via webcam from an FEC conference room . . . while on duty,’” Issa and Jordan write in their letter.
“The FEC [Office of Inspector General] sought to pursue criminal charges stemming from Ms. Sands’s solicitation of political contributions while on duty inside the FEC building. However, the FEC recycled Ms. Sands’s hard drive before the OIG was able to seize it, and therefore the OIG was unable to show that Ms. Sands’s solicitations and political activity were done from an FEC computer. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia thereafter declined criminal prosecution.”
The evidence is all destroyed, and the GOP acts outraged. Theater.
The targeting of US citizens by the IRS for their political beliefs is, under our putative system of government, one of the most egregious acts perpetrated against the American people by its government in the history of the republic. And no one really seems to want to get to the bottom of it — or rather, sufficient time has now passed so that those who do no longer have the means to do so.
And that was a bipartisan collusion. I’d bet my hat on it. Were I wearing a hat. Which I’m not. But still.
(h/t nr, via conservativetreehouse)
It’s not there are laws against such behavior in today’s more enlightened dictatorship. And Ear Leader has graciously promised us that he will be stepping down in January, 2017. Not, as one would expect, because the Constitution prohibits him from a third term, but because Michelle doesn’t want him to.
not *like*
(sigh)
I think you meant, “low employment in the black community,” in your first paragraph.
– When you listen to the words of the typical new wave Leftist morons that populate the current Democratic gaggle it must be a living hell to write the desired Narratives for these people. Talk about teaching a Giraffe to play the tuba.
– Could this be part of why the Progressives hate ‘Merica?
I think we need “black box” recorders for every department in the Federal government.
Is that racist?
Though April Sands collects government pay,
She solicits votes during her work day.
Jeff: And that was a bipartisan collusion. I’d bet my hat on it. Were I wearing a hat. Which I’m not. But still.
Well, I wear a hat – a fedora – every Goddamn day and I’ll bet my best one that the Quislings were involved in this.
Issa, as I’ve stated many times, is a useless POS, a bagman for The Pétain Crime Family. They don’t even let the slick bastard carry a roscoe.
I seem to recall the phrase, “long train of abuses.” I can’t quite put my finger on where I read it.
The Establicans are secretly admiring their colleagues across the aisle for getting away with something so egregious and are taking notes on how to get away with same.
Of course, the Dems won’t reciprocate with a gentleman’s blind eye: rather, they’ll do what an opposition party ought to do and screw them to the wall.
The Establicans won’t have seen it coming, because collegiality.
I seem to recall the phrase, “long train of abuses.”
Prolly Steely Dan lyrics, or maybe Doobie Brothers.
Well, I wear a hat – a fedora – every Goddamn day

““April Sands: ‘I don’t understand how anyone but straight white men can vote Republican’”
This says far more about April Sands than it does the GOP or straight white men. Namely it says that she’s a narrow minded deluded child like dupe of sub mediocre intelligence who can’t distinguish between reality and her cartoonish and infantile substitute for it.
She could have stopped after three words and been more accurate.

A silly, vain, leftist, asshole, television and comic book writer, but I repeat myself, J. Michael Stracsynski, once wrote in his TV series Babylon 5:
“No boom today? Boom tomorrow. Always boom tomorrow.”
It’s sort of like “Winter is coming” only far less specific. Cosmic pessimism is oppressive and it can make people do or come to believe funny things, especially when it is reinforced regularly that various aspects of the shadow of our doom hangs over us. Omega knows where we live.
I was thinking maybe the country is being allowed to slump towards Sodom and Nuremburg because we all sort of subliminally smell what the Rock is cooking and we know that our material future is very much in doubt no matter how we behave. Maybe there are panic pheromones in the air clouding our judgement and altering your perceptions. Maybe those of us who don’t spend much of our time in crowds are not getting the signals so strongly as those who do and so we see different universes and react accordingly which brings us into conflict.
Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, literally or figuratively, it smells like boom tomorrow.

Sands argument is indeed a reality that the GOP needs to look at if they’re serious about remaining a prominent party in the next decade and after. I’d even take the reality of the statement a step further and ad “I don’t understand how anyone but straight white men earning over $500k a year can vote Republican”.
The real question voters have to ask themselves is who is going to govern in their best interest.Who has their backs? The reality is that today’s Republicans or tea Party or GOP is not representative by any stretch of the Eisenhower or even Reagan era.
Granted, Democrats are spineless and disappointing but at the end of the day, voters can only pick from one or the other as in the last election, it was either Obama or Romney. Looking at the 2, I simply don’t think women, minorities, or blue collar workers felt that not only was Romany not in their corner but that he was actually apt to do more harm to them. Consider the Ryan budget which was mainly a huge gift to the top earners at the expense of average workers. It hit wage earners in their pockets and many voters felt (and still do) that it reeked of Plutocracy and Social Darwinism.
Cherry picking history to chastise Democrats and exonerate Republicans is a rather sophomoric if not specious argument as the dynamics of today’s politics simply isn’t consistent with that. Those political winds have long shifted and the GOP is on offense. Recent voting records of the GOP (and there are indeed many) puts the spotlight squarely on them.
And if you’re insistent on using history as your augment, the reality of history should at least be a factor rather than a reinvention of it. What’s this talk of “ridding the country of as many mongrel babies as was possible” ? As I recall, Roe v Wade was brought to us by a predominantly Republican appointed SCOTUS with the backing of a Republican President (Nixon) who praised the decision with “whats going to be aborted are generally the little black bastards” and “There are times when an abortion is needed. I know that. When you have a black and a white”.
Now, would the Nixon statement or the conservative SCOTUS Roe v Wade ruling be fair game in painting today’s GOP as the same? Of course not. It would not only range from, as I said, sophomoric to specious, but would be intellectually dishonest as well as intellectually lazy.
Your argument doesn’t fair a great deal better.
But at least we know when to spell it “fare.”
And also how to spot ignorant talking points when they’re served up on a tinfoil platter.
The reality is that today’s Republicans or tea Party or GOP is not representative by any stretch of the Eisenhower or even Reagan era.
You won’t get any argument from most of us here, but the Democrats are sidesplittingly ludicrous at the best of times, and downright treasonous at the worst.
What’s this talk of “ridding the country of as many mongrel babies as was possible” ? As I recall, Roe v Wade was brought to us by a predominantly Republican appointed SCOTUS
Your recall is questionable at best (4 justices appointed by Republicans, 5 by Democrats), but the whole abortion movement was the brainchild of Margaret “I never met a minority/immigrant baby I didn’t want to murder before it was born” Sanger, who was a lifelong Democrat, and abortion has been a platform of the Democrat Party ever since. 50 million killed and counting. Hell, even the Chinese haven’t reached that level of mass genocide. And you don’t see a whole lot of Planned Parenthood offices in white suburbs.
(Let’s not forget Lyndon Johnson’s famous quote about which ethnic group he would “have voting for us for the next 200 years”, which party controlled the south during the race riots, which party claimed the leader who asserted “Segregation now, segregation forever”, which party founded the KKK, which party repeatedly elected the KKK Grand Kleagle, and which party opposing all of the preceding Martin Luther King, Jr, actually belonged to, and which President actually sent in armed troops to desegregate the schools…)
Facts are always such a stubborn thing to ignore, especially when they refute your bullshit so thoroughly, aren’t they?
Ooh,ooh! We got another one! Give it a little more line before you tighten the drag!
You begin your argument rather misleadingly and then proceed to ignore my main point.
The majority opinion was written by Harry Blackmun (appointed by Nixon “R”) with concurring opinions were written by Potter Stewart (Eisenhower “R”), Warren Burger(Nixon”R”), and William O. Douglas(Roosevelt “D”), William J. Brennan Jr.(Eisenhower “R”), Lewis F. Powell (Nixon “R”), and Thurgood Marshall (Johnson “D”) giving us a 5 conservative appointed judges to 2 liberal appointed. Dissenting opinions were written by William Rehnquist (Reagan) and Byron White (Kennedy).
I’m new here so perhaps it’s customary for those I’m arguing with to simply make up incredibly stupid stuff instead of arguing on an informative and adult level? I don’t know but you seem to be batting 2 for 2.
But my main point is that it’s unrealistic to think that today’s GOP has the best interest in mind for anyone other than their major corporate donors which in turn, makes one question why anyone but straight white men earning over $500k a year can vote Republican.
You begin your argument rather misleadingly and then proceed to ignore my main point.
Your main point was based on your “recall”, and all I needed to do was to prove the facts behind your conclusion to be faulty (which I did). Any conclusion derived from faulty data is also faulty. Nothing else needs to be proven.
perhaps it’s customary for those I’m arguing with to simply make up incredibly stupid stuff instead of arguing on an informative and adult level
It normally is. However, when you actually start arguing on an informed level, then we can start progressing towards informative. Until then, you gets what you pays for…
In the meantime, you ignored the background behind the Democrat Party, its intimate interrelationship with racism in general, genocide in particular, and anti-Americanism overall, hoping instead to score some cheap points by pretending that the GOP’s fuck-buddy relationship with the Democrats is anything other than the main basis behind the reasons why we still have Obama as President, rather than anything substantive and (ahem) “informative”. (To wit, there is a reason why more Republicans voted in 2004 than in either of the two subsequent elections.)
giving us a 5 conservative appointed judges to 2 liberal appointed.
How can one have an opinion decided by five conservative justices, when there were only four on the court? See what I mean about being misinformed? Maybe next time you will get your facts from some place other than Wikipedia.
Or else perhaps abandon self-blinding rhetorical legerdemain, as any self-respecting adult would do?
“The real question voters have to ask themselves is who is going to govern in their best interest.Who has their backs?”
No the real question is do we want to live in a stagnant divisive shithole as virtual serfs like they do in central Europe or Japan until a country like Russia or China pops the stupid bibble with fire and ruin. It always has been. Your party is starting to smell like crazy talking, over promising, clueless fuck ups now.Unions are on the shrink. People feel poorer and more disrespected under the clusterfuck you stupid bastards have been trying to pass off as leadership. And all you dopes do about it is stonewall, threaten, sneer, and babble about Koch brorthers.
What makes you think imported central american hispanics won’t change the balance of the democrat party, throw the old whitey globo-leftist faction to the curb, and put some La Famila associates in charge of distributing the crony lucre and informal public enemy beatdowns? They won’t need you for shit.
“I’m new here so perhaps it’s customary for those I’m arguing with to simply make up incredibly stupid stuff instead of arguing on an informative and adult level?”
You mean like barking dusty talking parts about inclusionary politics always pointing leftward? Who gives a shit about bumper stickers?
Drumwasher, you claim to have proved something or another in you July 16, 2014 at 2:32 pm comment which begs the question of what precisely you’re talking about. You implicitly argue that the 1973 SCOTUS consisted of 5 Democrat appointed judges and 4 conservative appointed judges which is false. You dismiss my argument by doubling down on your false insistence of the 1973 Burger Court which you claim you proved me wrong on which you did not.
The argument is right above us in black and white context, the history of the 1973 Roe v Wade decision is inarguable, and there is no such thing as a “Democrat Party” just as there is no such thing as a Republic Party.
I’ve come to learn that attempting to have an adult conversation with someone of your argumentative tactics is akin to trying to converse with a tree frog or better yet, expect an intelligent rebuttal from a trash can. Obviously, it ain’t gonna happen. Accordingly, I think I’ll simply overlook your future comments and dismiss them as silly trolling distractions.
palaeomerus, “my” party is starting to smell like crazy talking? “I” “stonewall, threaten, sneer, and babble about Koch brorthers”? I ” think imported central american hispanics won’t change the balance of the democrat(sic) party, throw the old whitey globo-leftist faction to the curb, and put some La Famila associates in charge of distributing the crony lucre and informal public enemy beatdowns”?
And you deduce this how? Bigotry and ignorance certainly runs deep here doesn’t it? Cloned sockpuppets projecting the same utter nonsense while making the very same grammatical errors is rather telling.
On another point, such vulgarity. Why are you people so angry? So nonsensical?
honk shoo
“On another point, such vulgarity. Why are you people so angry? So nonsensical?”
The hostility is mostly a factor of us not taking you or your sanctimonious pollyanna bullshit seriously. Why are you so petulant, poorly informed, yet preachy? Why do you carry on like anyone here looks up to and respects you? You reek of being a smug lightweight who brings nothing to discuss but Huffington post opnion piece headlines. Where’s the value? Where’s the serious desire to discuss something in good faith and perhaps leanr something? You came here to preach and what you are preaching is self evidently total weaksauce outside of a friendly cultural space/bubble.

I think people who drop in out of the blue, don’t bother reading long enough to learn about how the blog works and what various styles of correspondence are, and then bitch about their pretentious, grammatically incorrect, and error-laden prose not being well-received are quite tiresome.
We have seen it so many times before that we have lost count, and yet each new one thinks that he is a precious snowflake with bright and shiny new ideas, rather than the same tiresome verbiage.

We’ve seen all that before and we don’t care about it anymore. Contempt and the heckling. dismissal of the same old pre-chewed squirrel shit is all I can muster.
Cranky, I want to take this opportunity to tell everyone about your great new printable paper-layer composite cudgel product. Sure it cost me a ream of paper and spray glue and cutting all the dotted lines took a long time and left my joints a litle swollen, but the final product is sturdy, light weight but packs a serious wallop! The optional resin impregnation kit hardens up the leading edge. A hole can be drilled to add a lead sap if so desired! If civilization collapses tomorrow, you can add your own nails, self piercing screws, or barbed wire to give any would be lord Humongous what for, right in his goalie masked chops! And thanks to the form fitting woven asbestos mesh sheath it is also fire resistant! The PDF file made efficient use of the paper! Very little went to waste!
Unfortunately I lost my cudgel in a bating accident. (WINK!) But thanks to the PDF I can get started on a replacement right away! It’s in the cloud waiting for me any time I need it! Cranky thought of everything!
Four thumbs up! (Two of those thumbs are technically toes!)
“I think people who drop in out of the blue, don’t bother reading long enough to learn about how the blog works”
It seems the more of the regulars (I say that questionably) respond the more incorrect they become. It was perfectly clear quite some time ago.
Honesty, reality, history, and any form of civility can be tossed out the window lest one kowtows to the mindset of, of, of whatever it is that this blog genuflects to.
“It seems the more of the regulars (I say that questionably) respond the more incorrect they become”
Nope. It seems like you’re a meretricious twerp who bridles at receiving the infamous reception a fatuous, slogan parroting, self important, waste of time like you deserves.
That’s not what “lest” means.
Seems our new friend is a habitual misuser of words. An unfunny Norm Crosby.
Indeed. Everything you say is questionable, including “and” and “the.”
I just figured it out.
It’s the return of Witheld!
Seems our new friend is a habitual misuser of words. An unfunny Norm Crosby.
It seems our grammar patrolman has sentence structure issues, an indeed funny, yet not surprising thing.
Actually, the word “lest” is correct as the “for fear that” definition applies. One is dishonesty, unrealistic, and historically incorrect UNLESS one adheres to the mindset of this blog.
For example, the resident troll(s) are still clinging to the 1973 Burger SCOTUS and the Roe v Wade decision as consisting of 5 D appointed judges and 4 R appointed judges. Even though that’s utter nonsense and profoundly stupid, I am wrong because, uh, well, I didn’t march lockstep to the mindset of the blog. And I’m sure the resident troll(s) will never ever admit their asinine error and abject stupidity because, will, I didn’t bow to the mindset of this blog.
That’s what bigoted and hate infested hack sites such as this consist of. It’s who you are.
Oh, and the word “bigoted” is not to be construed as “racist” as some of the trolls seemed to want to suggest. I’m not calling or suggesting anyone here is a racist but I am saying it’s a cesspool of bigotry (as in palaeomerus blatantly stating positions I have which I do not, opinions I have which I do not, and beliefs that I have which I do not. Why? Because I didn’t adhere to the exact mindset of this blog or more precisely, I challenged an argument presented by this blog).
I can’t say anyone here is racist because I don’t know and haven’t been given information to make an educated decision. For me to make such a claim would render me bigoted.
But there does seem to be considerable festered hatred. Kinda walks like a duck.
Did I leave out “unfunny”?
No, Norm — you used “lest” to mean “unless.” It’s a common mistake among those who aspire to a large vocabulary but can’t be bothered to learn the words.
And we can add “challenged” to the list of words you don’t know the meaning of.
If this site is so awful, why are you here? Are you paid to comment here?
The internet is full of sites where everyone will agree with your idiotic assertions. Feel free to visit them. You already know where they are.
I lol’d.

Why would you hate Baggers?
You know, sometimes they don’t pay attention and the bread gets squished.
I’d even take the reality of the statement a step further and ad “I don’t understand how anyone but straight white men earning over $500k a year can vote Republican”.
RJW gives himself way … it is noted that Leftists always start the “You earn too much!” covetousness just above the salary THEY hope to have given to them one day.
Note: given because they don’t believe wealth is made, it is just some big pie that belongs to The State and if you lick enough ankles and say the correct things, The State will bless you with money (hopefully taken from the people they hate)

Bottom Line Up Front: Your comment was turgid, ill-formed, and unconvincing. Did you have a point? It was difficult to tell.
Half-hearted fisking follows.
You list 3 things of which 2 are the same thing, viz (Republican, GOP) and (“tea Party” [sic]). Yep, you Really Know Your Stuff! (That was sarcasm, in case you were in doubt.)
While I would agree on “disappointing”, the “spineless” bit is rather jarring. In what context do you believe the Democrats are “spineless”?
Well, Gypsies normally aren’t in your corner if you are a gadje. Or did you mean something else? I’m not sure exactly how you misspelled that word.

The real question voters have to ask themselves is who is going to govern in their best interest.Who has their backs?” –
Ba haaa haaa haaa …
yea, that idiotic, sophomoric belief is what got us Barack. Fools who fell for that populist claptrap.
No, what we need is WHO is going to governing with respect to the Constitution. Who is going to LEAD when we need a leader.
Bill Whittle’s newest afterburner addresses this indirectly. Those socialists who crow about inequality, and community – all they care about is enriching themselves. Just compare Obama’s net worth before he entered the office and now. He is one of the very few who have gotten ahead in Obama’s America.
Who governs in my best interest is he who does not propose to enrich me at the expense of my liberty, because I can enrich myself far better if my liberty is left intact.
As for having my back, that’s what friends and kin are for.
I’m going to have to agree with myself, Ward’s got spork.
His English.
What’s up with that?
Can we still say queer?
Looks to me as though it’s possible Ronald had a party-line to propound, deriving from sources which wouldn’t early be known to those who don’t make a habit of such business. Such guesses, however, are the result of sketchy or unaccounted for and sudden appearances.
Or maybe even Geezers on Potty.
Go Yggie!
As opposed to the Donks’ base, Geezers on Pot.
I guess our interlocutor was another one-day wonder.

Except for the “wonder” part. Maybe “wander” (as in “away from the nice men in white coats” that he wasn’t supposed to be able to do without violating that court order)…
