What’s left to say, really? The Left has learned that, in a mainstream media environment owned by its pro-big government attendants and progressive guards, no lie is big enough that it can’t be massaged into a “half truth” or “narrowly true” statement by some motivated political hack bent on protecting a given narrative. Call it Terminator 5: Rise of the Anti-Foundationalists.
That this is possible because we, as a society, have accepted — either explicitly or tacitly — and worse, allowed to become institutionalized, certain ideas about what comes to constitute legitimate interpretation, is a point I’ve made consistently and with passion, but that I won’t here reiterate except to say that so long as you allow the incoherent structure to live, you don’t have much room to gripe when that structure produces exactly what it is meant to produce: namely, a kind of rhetorical relativism that posits plausibility as a defense against outright manipulation and falsehood.
And here is your objective correlative for the day:
Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, asked at a congressional hearing today why she hasn’t personally tried to enroll in the federal exchange, claimed that she wasn’t eligible. Colorado Republican congressman Cory Gardner countered that she could opt out of her federally-provided employer coverage, which is correct. Any American, in fact, is eligible for the exchange, as Healthcare.gov helpfully explains:
Most people will be eligible for health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
To be eligible for health coverage through the Marketplace, you:
- must live in the United States
- must be a U.S. citizen or national (or be lawfully present)
- can’t be currently incarcerated
Americans who have access to “affordable” coverage through their employers (federal-employee plans easily count) cannot receive subsidies on the exchange, but Sebelius’s income would render her ineligible for subsidies anyway, regardless of her employer coverage.
From this we are naturally permitted to conclude one of two things, neither of which speaks well of the system being imposed upon us: 1) Sebelius is ignorant of the law — in all its iterations (recall, Obama has unilaterally changed it without Congressional approval or court challenge, making it a new law); in which case she joins with the hundreds of millions of us who can in no way tell you what all happens when this law goes fully into effect, such are the labyrinthian meanderings and snares of the attendant regulations; or 2) Sebelius is a lying liar who lies in order to protect the lying liars who lied when they sold us this grand lie, made up as it is of hundreds of smaller lies.
Given that we now know, through the VRWC that has infested the investigatory journalism of NBC, that Obama knew well in advance that his promises were entirely false; and that — despite attempts by leftist “journalists” to “reimagine” the signifiers we all heard Obama utter over and over as something other than what they were intended to convey to us at the time — he repeatedly used these lies to push through legislation and then, to get past an election, it is safe to say, I believe, that Sebelius is yet another in a long line of lying ideologues who forced the American people into a contract that was illegitimately sold and then illegitimately declared legal by a Chief Justice who himself had to lie about the statute in front of him in order to save it.
Denials, obfuscation, out-and-out lies (one D Congressman yesterday railed about the “17 million children with pre-existing conditions who the GOP wanted to deny health care, an absurdly illegitimate number tied to a conflation of health insurance with health care, and a careful bracketing of state programs, charity hospitals, and Medicaid, in order to create the veneer of a morally outraged emotional appeal) — this is what the left is. It’s who they are and what they do.
But what’s so sad is that we’ve empowered them to do it in ways large and small — not the least of which has been through a surrender of language and the way it actually functions for yet another Utopian mapping onto language of incoherent assumptions that fundamentally transform its nature and will, as I’ve shown over and over and over again, move us inexorably and inevitably toward totalitarianism and authoritarianism, to tyranny and a will to power and away from the Enlightenment ideas upon which the country was founded and upon which the epistemology necessary to sustain it is grounded.
Kathleen Sebelius is the scion of insurance executives, third generation I believe. She was Insurance Commissioner of Kansas, as well as a representative and later the Governor. There is no way in hell she didn’t know she is eligible. She is fully aware that the ACA is a POS and she was trying to obfuscate. FAIL.
OT: WTF with Henry Waxman? Did he really say “nyah nyah nyah” while one of the republicans was speaking? No reprimand?
In any previous, sane version of America, she’d be cleaning out her desk right now.
What to do with a POTUS who’s simply incapable of feeling embarrassment or shame?
We live in the twisted-mirror funhouse of political lies — lies along a path which, once begun, have a way of multiplying indefinitely, practically infinitely, always in the service of the doomed salvation of a deliberate — and deliberately concealed — error.
It’s no way to live. It’s a worse way to die.
Luke Russert just fact checked Rep Renee Elmers. I’m glad for Tim that he didn’t live to see this.
Oregon’s ObamaCare success remains consistent: Number of People Oregon’s Obamacare Exchange Has Signed Up One Month After Its Launch: ZERO
Tim Russert would have recalled a time when politicians concerned themselves primarily with filling pot-holes in the streets and seeing to it that the trash was picked up on schedule. Little would he have imagined a time when a politician aims to stick his finger up your ass to palpate your prostate gland for tumors.
…a probationary school crossing guard in East Endoscopy, Kansas.
FTFY.
Meanwhile, the GOP establishment has decided to go to war against TEA Party Republicans, even thought the TEA Party Republicans are responsible for the GOP avoiding involvement in the Obamacare debacle.
Breitbart
Bear in mind that Russert’s twitter avatar reads “RESTORE SANITY.” One can only assume that it’s a cry for help.
Also according to Sebelius, the Obamacare site never crashed, it’s just r-e-a-l-l-y slow. Uh huh. Glacial.
The best was when she was asked if Obama is ultimately responsible for this mess. No, no, she’s in change of implementing the ACA. But doesn’t she report to Obama? “Sure. OK. Whatever.”
Whatever.
“Whatever” seems like an indication we’ve reached the end of “new modes and orders”, though the sequel hardly looks like an advance, but rather more a retreat into the jumbled informality (the forms having disappeared, by magic!) of tyranny, plain and simple.
The media’s really trapped itself with this one. All the other narratives have been able to go away after a lame “Shame!!!!” Congressional Hearing but for this narrative, there’s no victory coming. And there’s no room under the bus for Obama’s key regulation.
My prediction, unfortunately, is more Americans shuffling through TSA lines for their health care, hoping some magical thinking will fix the narrative. But we’ll see. That breaking point has to be somewhere, maybe once the financial bubble pops.
My prediction, unfortunately, is more Americans shuffling through TSA lines for their health care, hoping some magical thinking will fix the narrative.
I’ve taken to asking my lefty friends why it is that I need ObamaCare in the first place, when I already have federal employees willing to give me a prostate exam for free each time I go through airport security.
They say I’m not funny, but we all know that the real problem is they have no sense of humor.
Heh, see, if there was some more efficiency to all this I could get behind it, Squid.
They make you go through that scan thing, then hand you a print out of your scan to give to your Federal Doctor. Not only can we not carry dangerous, scary liquids through, but we won’t be able to eat for 24 hours before flying.
Does that also apply to pending incarcerations? If so, than I see her point…
In any sane version of America, someone with XX chromosomes that attempted to change the external packaging to appear male would not be called a man.
Richard, in a few hundred years after the sex changee is dead and gone, some anthropologist will dig up the bones and declare them to be of the sex they were born with. I have this argument with my idiot lib friends all the time. An operation isn’t going to change DNA, musculature or bone structure.
I get scoffed at when I say obviously these poor folks need some heavy duty therapy, not genital mutilation. Go figure.
The Z is jawboning his clusterfuck before the press cameras again. Lying like a rug too. He’s only been interrupted by hoots once.
The idiots in Boston, Mass just clap at the lies like he’s doing card tricks.
I hope someone is slapping Cards stickers on his limo while he’s blathering.
It’s like a hide the pea trick performed while pissing down his oh-so-well-creased pantleg.
This reeking fuck pile that Congress wants nothing to do with is wonderful an any who tells you different is playing politics and wants take all this imaginary wonderful stuff that costs a lot and doesn’t work away from you ! Don’t let them! We are all in this fake rip off bullshit conspiracy together. Well, I’m not. Congress isn’t. But you sure are. Apple pie! Stars and stripes y’all. Am I right? Don’t be all racist on me and try to hang on to your own stuff out of fear. Put some rose colored glasses and whistle through this whole fuckin’ graveyard. Whoooo! Go me! I saved the world with magic numbers and look over there! Squirrel! Obamaphone!
It’s like Mars Attacks with the Martian running around saying Do not run! This is a misunderstanding we come in peace and want to be your friends! Ten they disintegrate everyone down to bone and then do it again and more people come out.

Or maybe it is like the ‘pick me up’ grenade that the stupid alien bad guys lined up to pick up in “Mom and Dad Save the World”.

– The jig was up (and probably pissing down his creased pant leg when she couldn’t even say yes when the Senator gave her a total out). Same when she refused to admit Bumblefuck is “responsible”. They’re all scared shitless even to appear to be saying something bad about the boss.
– Welcome to Utopia in Moscow on the Potomac.
– The media tip-toes through the tulips. The euphamism de jur is “he fibbed“.
– The political lies have now reached a creshendo only equalled by the Stalin years in Russia.
– And thats exactly what some Pol should say when the press comes round: “I haven’t seen lying to the public like this since Russia in the 50’s and 60’s. Welcome to Moscow on the Potomac”
I heard an interesting question regarding Obamacare yesterday. Someone called a local talk show and asked if the health insurance subsidy had to be counted as income. The insurance guy wasn’t sure, but didn’t think it would be, because payment is made directly to the insurance company.
I about choked with laughter, because it’s common knowledge the IRS makes up the rules as it goes along and, more than likely, the IRS will count the subsidy as income.
The euphamism de jur is ‘he fibbed.’
I suppose that’s an improvement over “narrowly untrue.” Or is it? So hard to tell, anymore, what with the Progressive eradication of meaning and all…
…more than likely, the IRS will count the subsidy as income.
Unless you’re a Congressional staffer. Then the law doesn’t apply to you.
A giant fusillade of fear from the ClownDisasterites. They well know what their actions mean, both for the follow-on they must take against the people, and the potential that the people will not stand still to be shackled and chained. They have chosen the ends-means death match, and once chosen, they know they cannot go back.
I believe it’s “Pyongyang on the Potomac.”
Alliteration rocks.
Security audit of site was “deferred”, vulnerabilities already surfacing.

heh, so it turns out that a mere conservative inclination to stay the hell away from the whole ClownDisasterCareEnterprise may result in the conservation of personal data from exposure to capture by miscreants external to and other than the ClownDisasterAdministration itself?
Bonus! For the score!
