Truck drivers for the Constitution

A planned protest in favor of a return to constitutional government.  To be thwarted by Obama and the National Guard.

For freedom.

75 Replies to “Truck drivers for the Constitution”

  1. John Bradley says:

While it’d be awesome if they were clueless enough to do it, I’m gonna call “no way” on the NG shutting down I-495.

But then again, I also called “no way” Obama would get reelected, and I don’t even own a whiteboard, so what do I know.

  2. BigBangHunter says:

    – My crystal ball is no clearer than anyone elses, but just in terms of “level of agitation and unrest”, I see no way this motherfucking Marxist and his politoboro can survive another three years. No way.

    – Any move like that being discussed would simply mark the beggining of the end that much quicker. Either way he can’t keep playing this brinksmanship game with traitorous intent for much longer without buying the farm. Somebody, somewhere is going to crack, and things will spiral out of hand. His advisors had better start paying attention to the shitstorm this collectivist idiot is stirring up before the entire mess is decided in one moment. If they don’t know, or are that stupid and insulated from reality, someone in the moderate zone had better warn them.

    – Kennedy was no where near as dispised as this hackneyed ideolog, and look what happenefd to him, and by a Leftwing nutcase no less.

Think how fun it will be when the NewBonusArmy is born, as the ObamitePhoneCrowd — who expect their ClownDisasterCare to arrive for free — suddenly realize there won’t be any such thing! What a March on Washington that will be. KingSpiffyPants needs to start looking for his Douglas MacArthur sooner rather than later.

  5. geoffb says:

    These clowns are so predictable.

Just keep poking them with the little pointy spending-bill-stick and watch ’em jump and howl. Eventually all with above moron intelligence will see what a pack of wretched debris inhabits the DC power structure.

  6. geoffb says:

Quote for the above.“Since Interstate 495 is clearly a federal roadway,” report our DOT sources, and “the federal government is now closed because of the crazy House of Representatives Republicans, it is within the purview of the federal government to add it to the list of government properties that are closed and may not be used by citizens.”

While the planned 495 roadway shutdown by National Guardsmen this Friday is presently planned to coincide with the three day truckers protest, another DOT proposal suggests that the White House has the authority to extend the highway shutdown past the proposed three day closure, and to other federally funded Interstate Highways, such as I-95 and I-66 in Northern Virginia.

Highways and at all railroad crossings that Amtrak and Conrail pass through.

Right on schedule, chubby union guy pops up on the news to point out that “our infrastructure is crumbling!”

When hasn’t it been? Why don’t you overpaid humps do something about it other than pointing it out whenever your cash cow looks to go dry?

  9. newrouter says:

yea the civil engineers do that schtick too

  10. geoffb says:

Thanks nr I didn’t know that.

Then again Obama don’t care. He’ll shut down any damn thing he wants to.

He’s devolving into spree mode. You better learn good and hard that without pleasing his every whim you all will suffer, suffer, suffer. If the USA isn’t to be his bitch then nobody is going to have her ever again.

  11. geoffb says:

    “our infrastructure is crumbling!”

Mother Nature has never liked “infrastructure,” ever.

See Detroit, Michigan for a clue, chubby union guy.

By the way, since you’re one of the few that found signing up for Obamacare smooth as silk, do you mind if I ask what your premium is costing?

  39. Ernst Schreiber says:

I hope the administration is stupid enough to close the interstate highway system.

God in Heaven, please let them be that fucking stupid and arrogant.

  40. The Monster says:

If they are so foolish as to actually shut down the highways that, ahem, feed the District of Criminals, they’ll find that could easily backfire on them. Most major metropolitan areas have only a few days’ supply of consumables on hand. And the cultural elites love to mock those Beck fans who are into food storage and more substantial “prepper” stuff like safe rooms, weapons/ammo caches, and all that black helicopter nonsense.

If transportation arteries are closed, and people react by trying to buy as much as they can at their local grocery stores, the sight of rapidly-emptying shelves would kick the impulse into overdrive.

Within a few days, there could be riots.

I know they’d just love a crisis like that to justify a Cloward-Piven response, but they really ought to consider how things worked out for the nominal leaders of the French Revolution once the Mob acquired its own momentum.

  41. Ernst Schreiber says:

Serious Question for the legal/Constitutionally minded:

How do you call up and deploy national guard resources for traffic enforcement without suspending Posse Comitatus?

Follow question: What’s the legal basis for suspending Posse Commitatus?

  42. sdferr says:

Looking back at the military actions on the Bonus Army, I believe the District of Columbia’s federally ruled status made a difference which would not have been possible in Va. and Md., where the Beltway happens to lay. So, it’s not a simple matter out on I-495 to police with the National Guard, I reckon, but would probably have to be left up to the Staties in their Smokey-Bear hats, or the county mounties, as the case may be.

  43. Ernst Schreiber says:

    It’s all bullshit anyways.

  44. sdferr says:

If the truckers keep to orderly driving, obeying the speed limits, what would be any charge against them anyhow? “Heck, occifer, we just got all wadded up in a neat, concrete, steel and aluminium box of matchsticks, and kaint conceive we’re breaking any law!”

  45. sdferr says:

In fact, I think I can recall a couple of occasions back in the 80s when Maryland State Police set up coordinated rolling 55 mph barricades of their own on 495 and 95 Baltimore bound, though I don’t recall the impetus to their actions (maybe there had been a rash of speeding they wanted to stop?) . . . just that I was stuck behind them in the snake.

  46. geoffb says:

    It’s all bullshit anyways.

Piled higher and deeper round the Obama White House. Mulchi-culturally stylish, and with added corn for fuelish texture.

  47. geoffb says:

What’s the legal basis for suspending Posse Commitatus?

Make up some outlandish drug conspiracy/gun running charge like Waco and then just do it “balls to the wall.” ATF would be happy to oblige with the paperwork and the “shock troops” aka cannon fodder.

…then the Dalek whinges about slurs, whilst chucking stones and wondering why there’s a bunch of shattered glass around him.

  50. BigBangHunter says:

    – I’m still waiting for one of these prog peckerheads to go public with their “studied” opinions. I never seem to be able to find any of them to get up close and personal.

“but they really ought to consider how things worked out for the nominal leaders of the French Revolution once the Mob acquired its own momentum.”

Yes, King Mob doesn’t give a shit about your law degree. Ask Robespierre.

  53. Ouroboros says:

While I’m no great military intelligence insider I do belong to a number of military, spec ops and vet groups.. If Prince Obamiavelli were calling up NG units I’d expect lots of chatter in the military community from people in those units.. but I’m not hearing it.. Just talk of the viral rumor that’s been going round. I suspect today will be mostly uneventful.. but then again I’ve been wrong before.

  54. sdferr says:

Looks like a crappy rainy day in D.C. this morning: note the screen grab from a traffic control camera. It ought to make for a finely honed rage in the nether extents of the snake.

  55. Squid says:

It seems to me that if you honestly believe you’re going to roll up to the Capitol and arrest your treasonous representatives, it’s not that much of a stretch to honestly believe they’ll call out the National Guard against you.

  56. paulzummo says:

This has turned out to be not much of anything, though the weather has probably had an impact.

My wife is 3 days past her due date so I’m not as wild about this protest as I ordinarily would be, especially if I need to rush out to the hospital, but I guess I can always find back routes.

  57. leigh says:

Congratulations, Paul! If this is her first child, don’t worry too much since they are notorious about taking their sweet time to greet the world.

  58. paulzummo says:

This is actually our third, leigh, but thank you very much. Our first two also took their sweet time, so I’m not too concerned.

It is funny talking to people who have no kids and who think the Hollywood version of labor is anything close to accurate. Of course that explains much of Andy Sullivan’s idiocy wrt Sarah Palin.

  59. leigh says:

I’ll be chauvinistic about children for a moment and suggest that those who have none should keep their opinions to themselves. I too was full or romantic notions about motherhood until I spent 19 hours in labor and threatened to kill my doctor with my bare hands if he did do something NOW.

My other two were C-sections and they were a walk in the park in comparison.

  60. RI Red says:

Dalekhunter, most of us here have shared a bit about our backgrounds, talents, failings, bona fides, etc. It’s one thing that assists in communications of ideas and gives some weight to our opinions and beliefs. For example, most here know that I am an older lawyer, veteran, denizen of New England and Outlaw(tm) at heart.
I do find it interesting when you drop by, tempered by the fact that your contributions are made in a vacuum, as it were. Please feel free to make yourself more known; it makes it easier to engage with you on an intellectual level, rather than react to, well, troll droppings.

  61. SBP says:

Got a friend approaching DC in a motorhome as we speak (vacation that was planned long before the current contretemps — they’re damned well going to see the sights, “closed” or not).

She’s debating on whether or not to try to find the truckers and join them. I’ll report if I hear anything from her.

  62. McGehee says:

Interstate 495 is clearly a federal roadway

Except that, in practical terms, it isn’t.

It’s authorized by federal law and subject to federal standards, and partly funded with federal money, but construction, maintenance, speed limits and enforcement, and the authority to open or close the roads are state responsibilities.

Except inside the District of Columbia (technically), which unless I’m mistaken not one inch of I-495 is.

  63. hellomynameissteve says:

  64. Curmudgeon says:

Is he a retread? I can’t tell yet?

  66. hellomynameissteve says:

All it took to save the republic was 4 whole trucks! Who knew?

  67. hellomynameissteve says:

Oh, and that whole plan to use the national guard? Satire. And y’all fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

“To be nobody but yourself in a world which is working night and day to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle any human being can fight and never stop fighting.” -E.E. Cummings

  69. McGehee says:

And y’all fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

For values of “y’all” that mean, basically, nobody.

  70. cranky-d says:

We must be doing something right if the paid trolls are coming back.

  71. sdferr says:

Or else cranky-d, because as the ubiquitous saying goes these days: “Those tea party people just can’t win elections!”.

  72. cranky-d says:

They cannot win elections except when they do, which is quite often, really.

Which was your point, I believe.

Another good one is “You cannot do anything when you only control one half of one third of the government.” The fact that the one half of one third has to originate and approve all federal spending that occurs seems to escape them.

  73. sdferr says:

There’s both an equivocal sense of *can’t* as “must not be allowed to win” (and this I tend to see coming more from nominal or self-identified Republicans) as a vaunting (self-reassuring, no doubt) claim of *can’t* as “do not win” coming from the merely delusional. In any case, the stench of the effort to destroy is heavy on the wind.

  74. palaeomerus says:

“Because Truck drivers for the Constitution aren’t just any old birthers. They’re birthers THAT DRIVE TRUCKS! Take that, DC!”

They think Ted cCruz ia a Canadian?

  75. palaeomerus says:

“Oh, and that whole plan to use the national guard? Satire. And y’all fell for it hook, line, and sinker. ”

    Ah, so you can’t read.
