Oh The Humanity! Obama family has to “make do” with only two housekeepers … [Darleen Click]

one butler and one usher during the day!

Only 15 of the typical 90 workers who keep the Obamas’ apartment running – from cooks to cleaning ladies to electricians – are now on the job. The smaller crew is there to “provide minimum maintenance and support,” OMB says. […]

There were only two housekeepers, one butler and one usher on duty during the day, with just a single housekeeper and usher available at night. In the kitchen, there was only one chef to prepare meals during the day, while another came in for the evening.

Poor Barry and Michelle, heaven forfend either one of them fluffing their own pillows or retrieving their own snacks from the fridge!

At least our poor, exhausted Dear Leader has Camp David to retreat to.

“US forces hit extremists behind E. Africa attacks”

***”MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — In a stealthy seaside assault in Somalia and in a raid in Libya’s capital, U.S. special forces on Saturday struck out against Islamic extremists who have carried out terrorist attacks in East Africa, snatching a Libyan al-Qaida leader allegedly involved in the bombings of U.S. embassies 15 years ago but aborting a mission to capture a terrorist suspect linked to last month’s Nairobi shopping mall attack after a fierce firefight.

A U.S. Navy SEAL team swam ashore near a town in southern Somalia before militants of the al-Qaida-linked terrorist group al-Shabab rose for dawn prayers, U.S. and Somali officials told The Associated Press. The raid on a house in the town of Barawe targeted a specific al-Qaida suspect related to the mall attack, but the operation did not get its target, one current and one former U.S. military official told AP.”***

Seems like Russia is ever Russia:

Athletes and spectators attending the Winter Olympics in Sochi in February will face some of the most invasive and systematic spying and surveillance in the history of the Games, documents shared with the Guardian show.

Russia’s powerful FSB security service plans to ensure that no communication by competitors or spectators goes unmonitored during the event, according to a dossier compiled by a team of Russian investigative journalists looking into preparations for the 2014 Games.

I have a thought though. Who is the more evil, people that tell you up front they are listening, or people that pretend that a horrible thing to do, then do it anyway?. And call a person a traitor when they reveal they are doing it anyway (hi Snowden!).

Geo Listening grabbed a lot of attention recently when it was reported that a suburban Los Angeles school district paid the social media monitoring company $40,500 to monitor the public posts of about 13,000 middle and high school students, eight schools in all […]

Such social media monitoring services are sold on the platform that they can stop bad things from happening, but is that enough of a justification?

“We could stop bad things from happening if we install cameras in everyone’s bedroom in America,” Jay Stanley, senior policy analyst at the American Civil Liberties Union, told NBC News. “Which trade-off are we willing to accept? Every word, every fleeting thought we type into a search engine and every product we think about buying gets recorded by a large database, not to help us but to exert power over us.”

Exerting power over us is the favorite thing in America any more…

Remember when the Commiecrats attacked Bush (The Elder and The Younger) for the occasional retreat? Now King Putt does nothing but that, all the time, and yet somehow he still has the media anointed common touch.

One of the most serious–but almost unmentioned–trends in American politics is the demise of non-Demunist, non-Commiecrat, non-media and entertainment elite, Democrats.

RINOs? Sellouts? “Pragmatists”? Those who “go along to get along”? Sadly, those are not new in the GOP. From Teddy Roosevelt’s “progressives” (any time you hear that word, vomit), to Tom Dewey’s “Modern Republicans”, to Nelson Rockefeller’s “Me-too” Great Society Lite, later version of same, to the RINOs of today, that streak is not new in the GOP. Not at all.

However, there used to be a quite large number of Democrats, while they liked their pork barreling deals and their unions, were patriotic, non academic, at least somewhat churchy, and at least grounded in reality. They were called “Boll Weevils” (south), “Blue Dogs” (Midwest and Rust Belt), or just plain “Independent Democrats”.

They would yank the Democrat Party from being the full blown academic pseudo-intellectual, media elite, entertainment elite, Party elite apparatchik, Commiecrats, like we have now.

But they are just about extinct. Joe Manchin was probably the last of them?

They were called “Boll Weevils” (south), “Blue Dogs” (Midwest and Rust Belt), or just plain “Independent Democrats”.

I wrote a piece about this a while back. Here’s some about it from a pro-life Democrat.

[D]uring the late 1960s, the Democratic Party itself was radicalized. While it’s widely acknowledged that Southerners and Christian conservatives changed the Republican Party in the late 1970s, a strong case can be made that college students and pro-choice women were transforming the Democratic Party even more.
    […]
Yet social liberals not only joined the Democratic Party; they rewrote that party’s rules. In 1969, they changed the way the delegates were chosen.
    […]
It was the now-forgotten Reform Commission of the late 1960s that rewrote the rules. … State parties must ensure, it stated, that “all of the Democratic voters have had full and timely opportunity to participate” in the selection of delegates.
    […]
Senator George McGovern was tapped to head the commission, and he in turn appointed three young staffers.
    […]
What the staff found was that only 13 percent of the 1968 delegates had been women. To change this, they drew up a quota bill of sorts. State delegations must take “affirmative steps to encourage representation of minority groups on the national convention delegation in reasonable! relationship to the group’s presence in the population of the states.” The 28-member commission passed the bill on November 18, 1969; it went into effect during the 1972 convention. As a result, 43 percent of the Democratic delegates to the convention that year were women. In four years, the percentage of women as delegates had leaped more than threefold. (Today the party requires that delegates must be “equally divided” between male and female.)
    […]
This would come as no surprise to Teddy White. In terms that must have seemed strange at the time, he predicted that the commission’s quota rule was a “cultural watershed” for the Democratic Party, changing its very philosophy. “By insisting on a fixed proportion of blacks, Indians, or Spanish-speaking [delegates] and ignoring, say, Italians, Poles, Irish, Jews, or old-stock colonials, it restricted.”

This was a purposeful move to select just who would control the Party over time. Not a sudden coup exactly but like a slow rising tide that eventually floods every nook and cranny.
