Ezra Klein tries valiantly to defend the IRS

From the 60s hippies and their influential spokespeople hoping to “raise consciousness” and stick it to the Man — they despised attempts to curtail their freedom and the overweening dictates of a bourgeois establishment, with its ossified mores and stultifying religious traditions, they told us, even as they took over the universities and gave us speech codes and political correctness, anti-foundationalism and post-modern relativism — the trajectory of the “transgressive” left runs directly to the Juice Box Mafia, whose wunderkinds spend all their time and energy defending bigger, less transparent, and far more intrusive and partisan government, even when they pretend not to.

It would be amusing were they not so damn serious about it.  Instead, it’s just pathetic.  And despicable.  And (ironically) transparent.

I mean, ONE TWO THREE FOUR WE DON’T WANT YOUR STINKIN’ WAR ON THE REASONABLE SUPPRESSION OF POLITICAL SPEECH, PROVIDED THAT REASONABLE SUPPRESSION DOESN’T AFFECT THE MAJORITY OF THE QUITE POLITICAL LEFT-LEANING NGOS WE’VE MANAGED TO INSTITUTIONALIZE AS NON-PROFITS OR THE CREDENTIALED PRESS, AND BY CREDENTIALED PRESS, WE MEAN THE REAL PRESS, NOT FAUX NEWS OR COMMENTARY MAGAZINE, ETC is not the battle cry you’d expect to hear from the ideological heirs to the Woodstock generation — at least, not as they are generally portrayed in the popular culture.

In fact, you’d expect them all to be libertarians or classical liberals.

But that’s only because the left used the freedom agenda, and a strain of libertine ethics, as a Trojan horse to eventually take over a party and secure political power. They have always been about tyranny.  They just needed to reverse who was in control of the social engineering.

It’s who they are.  It’s what they do.  And Ezra Klein is just another of their propagandist mouthpieces.

But don’t just take my word for it. I hear there’s another BlogCon going on in which more influential conservatives are meeting with each other yet again to discuss the failures of the press and how to combat them.

Perhaps a panel on language would be in order.  Just to complete the irony.

The IRS scandal scares me more than Benghazi. “But nobody was killed” people will say.

Yeah, okay, tell that to the person wrongly jailed for political reasons, I mean, tax evasion, and is told that he will have to be patient while the “mistake” is corrected and the paperwork is processed for his release…10 months or 10 years after being imprisoned.

The IRS scandal is the face of tyranny. At the very least, the people involved deserve to go to jail and wear a scarlet letter for the rest of their life.

  2. sdferr says:

Out of touch Obama just said he “only learned of the charges against the IRS” in the news reports last Friday. Goody for him and his that he should be so disconnected from his responsibilities.

  3. Alec Leamas says:

You know, Ezra Klein’s rationale for scrutinizing all (c)(4)s for political involvement should apply even more to (c)(3)s which engage in political activities. The (c)(3) designation is supposed to be even more stringent than the (c)(4) designation, in part because contributions to a (c)(3) are deductible for the donor.

And by (c)(3)s, I mean colleges and Universities.

  4. sdferr says:

And doubles down with his Benghazi cover-up.

  5. leigh says:

It’s on: Obama just claimed the CIA changed the talking points.

So according to the juiceboxers, the problem isn’t that the secret police are kicking in doors at 3 in the morning; the problem is that they’re not kicking down doors evenly. The People will only tolerate home intrusion, property damage, terror tactics, and arbitrary imprisonment and seizure if they believe that everyone is harassed and abused regardless of political persuasion or political connections.

Of course, now that we’ve brought the matter to the Lightworker’s attention, we can rest assured that He’ll see to it that all of us receive the tender mercies of His glorious domestic army. Blessed be His name.

I never once doubted that President Clinton was smart.

I’ve always known TOTUS made POTUS.

  8. mojo says:

It’s ALL propaganda, dude. You’re being programmed 24/7, whipsawed back and forth between the two narratives, NEITHER of which is true.

Blow up your TV, that’s my advice.

    What, you don’t like fairness?

  10. Pablo says:

“Sure, it’s bad but those Tea Party assholes had it coming.”

  11. Mr. Ezra “small, little, tiny, minuscule; short; not valuable, insignificant, unimportant, petty, trivial, secondary; minor, junior, under legal age” is rather appropriately named, jawohl?

  12. SBP says:

    Ezra Klein: Backpfeifengesicht.

  13. Neo says:

Obama says first learned about the IRS controversy from news reports.

Are we really supposed to believe that the “smartest man in the room,” the “Chicago Jesus,” the “Magic Negro” had some part of his administration running rogue for 3 years without somebody calling the White House to find out what was going on ?

Are we to believe that President Obama had been hoodwinked ?

Are we to believe that President Obama had been had ?

Are we to believe that President Obama had been took ?

Are we to believe that President Obama had been led astray, run amok ?

Are we to believe that President Obama had been bamboozled ?

(excuse me while a rub my middle finger on my neck)

To my ears that sounds like John Lott’s voice, talking to Limbaugh about Austan Goolsby and the taxes of the Koch bros. on a cold call just now.

  15. Slartibartfast says:

I haven’t made it through Ezra’s diversion attempt, but I would bet you that the organizations that we should REALLY be worried about are none of them run by Democrats.

  16. sdferr says:

Maybe so! Lott’s Blog, 5/13/2013: Obama’s past IRS abuses can’t be blamed on “low level workers,” Austan Goolsbee and the Koch Brothers

This isn’t the first time that President Obama’s administration has abused the IRS’s powers. Austan Goolsbee who was Obama’s chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors told reporters the amount of money that the Koch brothers had paid in taxes in 2010. Note that this, like the abuses against the Tea Party, also occurred in 2010 and that it involved people that that administration hated as much as the Tea Party. The current ruckus isn’t the first time that Obama administration abuses of the IRS have been compared to the Nixon administration.

  17. sdferr says:

    Quoting Lott further:

The Obama administration then switched to a second line of defense: that Mr. Goolsbee simply misspoke, that he didn’t mean to say what he said, and that it was merely a coincidence that he had just happened to guess their tax information.[73] But it was quite a lucky guess. The IRS’s Inspector General promised to look into whether Goolsbee had illegally gotten confidential tax information,[74] but a report was never released, and with Democrats in control of both the Senate and House at the time, there was no congressional pressure on the Obama administration to release the report.

  18. The thing about the Nixon comparison: Didn’t somebody investigate and find that nobody on Nixon’s infamous “enemies list” was ever subjected to the kind of cavity search that we’re talking about now? (Just read that recently, gotta see if I can find it.)

  19. serr8d says:

Limbaugh? Pshaw. His days are numbered. Leftists at Stop Rush already prepping celebratory floating papier mache heads, and choosing their next target.

  20. serr8d says:

Read on American Thinker this AM that Hillary needs concoct a massive sex scandal to lure the MSM to diversion (because Benghazi is getting uncomfortable, and might cause her a headache).

So, Hillary needs a cigar, and Huma Weiner needs to squeal…?

serr8d, Huma even has a resident expert on sex scandals to consult with.

  23. sdferr says:

Has Obazm decided he doesn’t want Kermit Gosnell punished with a baby, or four? It might be good to hear now that the trial is over.
