March fundraiser begins today [sticky; new posts below] MONDAY EVENING UPDATE

What can I say?  I’m still here and still fighting — and whether you agree with me or not on any given issue, at least you know that what you read here is what I believe, and that I’m not pandering to any specific audience, or looking for a paying gig writing press releases for the Conservative Victory Group, or organizing conferences for one of any number of TEA Party organizations that will turn around and, say, endorse Mitt Romney or help the GOP establishment trash candidates weakened by the Democrat media.

Which is something, right?

With Colorado about to be pressured by Joe Biden (of all people!) into gutting my second amendment rights — though of course, I can just shoot a double barreled shotgun through the front door whenever I feel threatened, and if that spray of pellets hits the UPS guy, well, he should have been wearing a vest — I am in desperate need of a 5.56 rifle, which I’m hoping to pick up before any kind of final passage of these new unconstitutional laws.

I already own a bunch of PMags (my eternal gratitude to RI Red) and, thanks to Magpul, will be picking up a bunch more; just as I already have a NV Eotech sighting system w/ slap-to-the-side magnifier and an infrared laser.  The only problem is, I don’t have the rifle to go along with all that gear.

Finding anything in that platform has been difficult.  And the prices heavily inflated.  But I do have a line on one — a friend of a friend is selling a slightly used Bushmaster with a heavy barrel, a Surefire set-up, and an aftermarket upgrade to the lower — but I’m not sure how long it’ll stay on the market, or if he’ll allow me to pay on an installment plan.

That, and I need some freeze-dried food. For when the dollar collapses, and Ron Paul takes over the world, having cornered the global market on gold.

So. Help a brother out?

Thanks in advance.

Monday evening update:  about half-way through and about half-way there.  Thanks to all who’ve contributed.

Also, as an aside, I’m trying to secure a very very (very very) monthly stipend from Newsmax in exchange for running their headline news widget.  Newsmax has just added the Telegraph as one of its partners, which is a good thing.  The more readers here click over to the Newsmax sites via my headline widget, the more likely it is that protein wisdom earns a monthly payment.  And when you have very little in the way of advertising revenue, that’s kind of a big deal.

So thanks in advance for using that service, located on the right sidebar.

You can buy long guns in a contiguous state. Find a gun shop in Wyoming or other contiguous state, and buy there if they have one, or put in an order. You’ll eventually get it. Of course, as of now you could buy in Colorado. Maybe we’ll get lucky and it will stay that way. Isn’t that something, we have to get lucky to keep our natural rights protected from the predators masquerading as public servants?

    TeeJaw —

The problem is not so much with the buying. It’s with the supply. Were I to sell my SCAR-17 now, I could get more than twice what I paid for it. And the mags are going for about 8x what I paid.

But I won’t sell them for fear of never having the opportunity to own them again legally.

I wouldn’t buy ’em. There’s not enough cosmoline in Colorado to protect metal from naasty mineralized Rocky Mountain lake waters. )

  19. Be happy to take a few PMAGs off your hands if you have too many, or can get another Colorado resident to pick some up for me. Good luck picking up the new AR-15. 5.56 ammo is out there but it is about $1 a shot in bulk. Ack.

Jeff, when at Gallenson’s in SLC, I noticed they still had some ARs. DPMS Oracle M-4gery optics-ready rails . $800 and change.
Before the tragic ice-fishing accident, we had a couple.

Take a look on armslist.com, Jeff. Maybe something nearby that’s in the right price bracket. CO’s got a lot more stuff for sale than CT.

Jeff: did you mean to say red laser, or INFRAred laser?

The latter will only be useful if you have NVG capability.

Bones — Infrared. I have NVG and soon hope to have 3 set-ups for NV shooting, one of which won’t require the use of goggles.

Right now I use the IR laser on a rig set up with a 3×12 scope and an offset red dot site at 1 or 2x. On a second I have a NV compatible Eotech and slap to side 3x Eotech magnifier.

On my Scar-17 I’m hoping to get a clip on Gen 3+ NV lens to use with my GRSC 1-6x combat rifle scope. That gives me options against someone with NV goggles. That should give me range out to about 500-600 yards with no optical footprint.

A cause, all of us have all the time everyday.

What matters in terms of marketing I detailed on the Althouse site.

Larry Sanders was ruined because of me, and my debt grows longer by the hours.

I fucked it all up. Larry was the best, the best, the best.

    Larry is Owen Corning.

    NotquiteunBuckley said…

“Larry Sanders was ground breaking in it’s time with an honest look at the mostly unlikable people in television. Ironically, now the owner of this website (whose name we dare not speak) has removed the show from instant play because it’s licensing agreement has expired. Come on cheapskates, pony up for ten more years so that we can feel good about not working in your industry.”

Speaking of fundraising, hey Jeff, what are your opinions on Malaysia?

Pretty keen place, isn’t it, what with their benevolent government and all. Bet a guy like you could really write some kick-ass pro-Malaysia pieces and really “get the word out”, huh?
