“’08 Debate: Biden Complains People ‘Can Barely Pay To Fill Their Gas Tank'”

Quick, somebody get Paul Ryan on the phone. I think we maybe have a keeper here.

By the way, when Biden brings up the “47%” remark — assuming he does, and that Obama hasn’t forbid him from doing so, wanting now to save the staff-written one-liners for his next debate against Romney in order to appear more aggressive — Ryan should respond by 1) agreeing that Romney said it; 2) noting that the spin the Democrats have put on it has been intended to mischaracterize what was being discussed (here, he could point out that the audio was crudely clipped, with a big segment of the remarks missing and then the ends spliced together); 3) then finally explain it in simple terms: in 2008 Obama won more than 50% of the vote. So even assuming many people change their minds and either switch votes or stay at home, Obama — like nearly every presidential challenger — is likely to get 47% or thereabouts of the vote. That the Democratic Party’s constituency also happens to include, for the most part, the majority of those who pay no federal income taxes — or receive tax rebates — and are on some government program or other is a truism that doesn’t disappear simply because it is stated as such.

Ryan should then say that it is the goal of the Romney campaign — and of conservatism/classical liberalism more broadly — to reach out to those who have found themselves out of work or on government assistance but who want to work and who want to live in free country with a vibrant economy, to appeal to those who would be willing to vote against what they’ve been told are their immediate self interests in order to vote in a ticket whose reforms in the tax and regulatory codes will increase growth, bring back jobs, increase individual liberty, and allow many of those now dependent on government to change their station.

All while refusing to deficit spend, and working on reforms to entitlements that are otherwise unsustainable and likely to prove so within the lifetimes of most who’ve paid (or will pay) into them.

— At which point Biden can tell us all a pre-planned story about a man named “Kenny” from a small town in Delaware whose disability from a thresher accident is forced to live on government assistance and doesn’t much like being considered a taker who supports Obama because he’s lazy — without even realizing Ryan has already preemptively taken the sting out of such manipulative horseshit.

Also? Math.

If they’re taking volunteers to cane Carney, look here, my hand is up.

Ryan should start by saying, “Although, unlike the Vice President, I did not graduate at the top of my class” and then follow up by quoting Neil Kinnock and giving Kinnock credit.

While U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney were the chief recipients of Congressman Trey Gowdy’s ire at today’s House hearing, Charles Krauthammer points out that the Secretary of State and the President deserve similar criticism. Hillary Clinton told the same lie about the YouTube movie inciting protests in front of the American embassy in Benghazi, and she did so while standing next to the coffin of Ambassador Chris Stevens and delivering a eulogy in his honor.

    – Romney can just stare at Obama with a slight friendly smile at the next debate and say “Speaking of foreign policy, in the wake of the murders of four Americans for lack of security, what would you have done differently?”

One doesn’t have to spin what one can simply ignore.

    – Something tells me shes not going to go away quietly….She has that “Sindy Sheehan” look.

  14. sdferr says:

Nah, the Cindy Sheehan mother is the one who went after Romney for telling of his meeting Glen Doherty, accusing Romney of “politicizing” Doherty’s death. Romney of course instantly caved.

until the mom goes full Cindy, she lost a son and her wishes should be respected.

  16. sdferr says:

    Her daughter disagrees.

why? ( sorry moms don’t own their prodigy)

  18. Pablo says:

    why?

Because refusing a simple request like that makes you look like the asshole that you are. Dissing Mom just doesn’t go over well.

( sorry moms don’t own their prodigy)

Are people like this justified in being pissed off?

  19. Pablo says:

    How about her?

  20. Darleen says:

    sdferr

in that case, let mom and daughter hash it out in public.

Romney’s story in no way was “using” her son’s death at all, but he is magnanimous in saying he won’t repeat the anecdote

    1) it will either drop there

    2) or if mom turns it political, the story will be repeated and it is she that will look more and more like corpse-wearing Sheehan.

Either way, it’s not Romney that looks bad

  21. Pablo says:

He should be talking more about Chris Horton.

“One of the last things my husband said to me before he was killed, when I would ask him, ‘Chris, what do you need over there? What can I send you?’ he said, ‘I need a new president,'” Horton recalled.

Can you imagine Bumblefuck having anything like this presence of mind and/or compassion? This is a class act:

Horton, like her late husband, is a Romney supporter. He had a small role in his 2008 campaign in their Oklahoma office and she has worked here and there for his bid this time around.

They first spoke when Romney wrote her a handwritten letter after Chris was killed. It was Oct. 1, 2011, Horton said, re-reading the letter as she spoke, remembering that she was shocked Romney had put two and two together — that one of his many staffers had been killed and he’d figured out a way to find his wife.

Re: Respecting slain SEAL’s mom request to not politicize her son..

Have any family of the four slain in Libya called out Obama and Hillary for turning their loved ones’ memorial into a televised political spectacle, complete with lies about them being murdered over an obscure video? That alone was probably the most despicable thing they’ve done since the attack – use the dead as props when they were the ones who made them so vulnerable to the attack.

And while we’re at it, Obama has been politicizing the SEALs since the bin Laden raid. He even released secured info – including the teams names – to Hollywood folks. Where’s the outrage about that?

We’ll never know. The Palace Guards studiously keep their cameras pointed elsewhere. Usually at the BUNNIES!

  25. Pablo says:

This isn’t a complaint about the memorial, but it is one about the lies.
