“Democrats open door to letting taxes rise in 2013 to reset debate with GOP” [updated]

And this is surprising why?  Punishing “the rich” — in essence, justifying the plunder of the productive class to draw in revenue to redistribute to their friends and constituency leaders — is necessary to any leftist enterprise, though the “rich” who are willing to lend their support to the government class and give cover for the plunder are rewarded by decreased competition and the cronyism inherent in liberal fascism, the ultimate endpoint of all socialist experiments.

If Obama wins reelection, I’m convinced we’re going to see a complete and concerted push to finish off the US as a free market constitutional republic.  It would be a fulfillment of the New Party’s agenda brought about through the Cloward Piven strategy, with high energy prices, dramatic unemployment, and a governmental recruitment of the new dependency class meant to create a kind of demographic destiny.

The only way to fight back will be, literally, to fight back — to resist, be it through civil disobedience by individuals, or by a dramatic reassertion of federalism by states who call the bluff of the feds and their oligarchical enablers on the Supreme Court

Meanwhile — and sadly — some Republican get-alongs will still be talking about policy differences, and how it’d probably be nice to have a beer with that very charming, very personally likable Obama fellow.

With allies like those…

Ah, what a difference a mere year makes.

And who it is holding “the economy hostage.”

Heh.

A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama’s executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven’t paid any share, let alone their fair share.

The report finds that thousands of federal employees owe the country more than $3.4 billion in back taxes. That’s up 3% in the past year.

The country’s chief law enforcement agency, the Department of Justice, has 2,069 employees who are nearly $17 million behind in taxes. Like Operation Fast and Furious, Attorney General Eric Holder has apparently missed them too.

As with ordinary people, the IRS attempts to negotiate back-tax payment plans with all delinquents, whose names cannot be released. But according to current federal law, the only federal employees who can be fired for not paying taxes are IRS workers.

I am an out-and-proud racist for quoting Andrew Malcolm. Conservative: The New Peckerwood!

If Obama gets a second term, Californication is the future.

Still, better to risk total destruction than fight the narrative that everyone on welfare is a saint and the rich become richer by boiling babies. Information age!

Ooops! sorry boss, I posted on the same thing (was busy ferreting out links to the breathless histrionics about “Reckless Republicans holding the economy hostage” from July 2011) I put my post into draft mode.

    – The Dems are whistling past the cemetary, pretending they’re destined to hold the Senate in the upcoming election cycle.

    – I’m thinking theres an even more repacious, pissed off, struggling body electorate out there, by far, much larger and motivated than in 2010, who just might have something to say about it.

    – We’ll soon see which viewpoint holds sway.

  7. Slartibartfast says:

Well, this is no surprise, and it’s nothing they need to do. The Bush-era tax cuts will expire this year if Congress does nothing, so all they have to do is nothing and they’ll get their way.

And I think they should get their way. But their way will also mean that taxes rise on the middle class, which Democrats promised they would not do. In other words, I think Democrats have something to lose by letting the tax cuts expire. They think they have the upper hand, here; I think they’re wrong.

  8. George Orwell says:

Sure, Republicans want to cut spending. But first, we must enhance revenue, dontcha know.

Republican governors, eager for new revenue to ease budget strains, are dropping their longtime opposition to imposing sales taxes on online purchases, a significant political shift that could soon bring an end to tax-free sales on the Internet.

Conservative governors, joining their Democratic counterparts, have been making deals with online retail giant Amazon.com to collect state sales taxes. The movement picked up an important ally when New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie—widely mentioned as a potential vice-presidential candidate—recently reached an agreement under which Amazon would collect sales taxes on his state’s online purchases in exchange for locating distribution facilities there.

I agree with Ben Domenech. My answer to “we’re only leveling the sales tax playing field” is “Fuck you. Eliminate your sales taxes. Do with less. We do already.” Funny how Republican efforts to create “tax equity” only seem to end up gouging more taxes from everyone.

    – I agree Slart. Don’t see a winnable course for the Dems regardless of the election results. even in the event the Dems keep the Senate and the WH.

    – If the taxes go into effect, at the very least you’ll see a major backlash in state elections, and all the repercussions that would lead to. If the Dems lose the Senate it will be a turkey shoot on striking down Obama’s excesses, and if the Repubs take both it will be lights out for the great Utopian experiment.

    – The only difference in all the potential scenarios will be the length and depth of the electorates suffering.

    Yup. So, situation normal.

BBH, old buddy…as a friend, I feel I should point out it’s pretty early for that much strong drink.

If the Dems keep the Senate and WH, America is done. That’s the Dems win. We revert to being a European colony.

If the Republicans win, there will be talk about looking for the light switch for the great Utopian experiment. In the mean time, no bureaucrat agency will lose a dollar, the national debt will continue to grow, wars will be fought with no plan for victory, energy independance will continue to be a lying political slogan that lies, and the media will shift from Democrat mode to Republican mode, IE, working twice as hard to keep the country divided against itself.

The only political hope we have at all is a faint one based on an electoral sweep, a second even more faint hope that once in office they’ll actually make significant CUT’s to the leviathan, and the faintest hope of all, that if the first two hopes are crushed, we will be able to form a third party and wrest away our government from the socialist elite.

Shorter me, if the Dems keep the Senate and White house, we’re fucked. And I wouldn’t build your hopes to high if Republicans win either…

    on a happier note
