Remember when Sarah Palin was directly responsible for shooting Gabbie Giffords? [Darleen Click]

Now Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and even Mitt Romney are responsible for the killing of Trayvon Martin

MSNBC analyst and Democratic strategist Karen Finney disgustingly smeared Rush Limbaugh and several Republican presidential candidates on Thursday, charging that the racist hate of these conservatives had “lethal consequences” in the case of Trayvon Martin, an African American teen shot in Florida. [...]

Since MSNBC chose a Democratic operative to guest host the Martin Bashir show, it shouldn’t be surprising that Finney completely misrepresented the facts. Limbaugh did not create the term “magic negro.” David Ehrenstein did in the Los Angeles Times, March 19, 2007. He wrote of the then-candidate:

But it’s clear that Obama also is running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination — the “Magic Negro.”

Limbaugh repeated the words and used the phrase in a skit on his radio show.

Finney also blamed Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney for the shooting:

So, when Newt Gingrich, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says that, quote, “really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works. They have no habit of I do this and you give me cash, unless it’s illegal,” or Rick Santorum says, “I don’t want to make black people’s lives easier,” or Rush Limbaugh calls a presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama a magic negro, or Mitt Romney says nothing at all, the effect is dangerous.

What happened to Trayvon Martin was a horror and a nightmare no parent should ever experience. But for the Left and its usual suspects in racialist-narrative mongering, the political optics of black teenager being chased down and killed by a “white Hispanic” (my, how the NYTimes had to stretch to get to that term), is just too tempting to pass up.

Never underestimate the deficit of common decency by the acolytes of religious Leftism.

  1. Remember: fat white guys use “code words,” need to be silenced and shamed.

Fat black guys use actual, explicit calls for reparations, revenge, and riots, and they need to be studied and understood so that we may better address their demands.

And pointing out the melanin-derived double-standard, as we all know, is RAAAAACIST!

  2. Fuck off, Finney. That is all.

  3. If POTUS had a hoodie it would look like Trayvon’s. Why is his take on the news always about him?

  4. I wonder how the Martin’s feel about their son being used as a poster boy for causes that have nothing to do with the circumstances of his death.

  5. If there’s one thing we know for certain about the left, it’s that they love dancing on people’s graves. They’re classy that way.

  6. BT: Based on their media schedule, appearance at a rally in New York City, etc., well . . .

  7. a “white Hispanic”

That’s a perfect description of me, you know. Reckon I should denounce and arrest myself…

  8. I wonder who will release the hip-hop version of the “Horst Wessel Lied”.

  9. Does that mean you’re melanin deprived Mike, or that your ancestors came from Iberia?

  10. I want to know why the feds are involved in this tragedy. It’s almost like the current administration is looking to create its very own Selma.

  11. Does that mean you’re melanin deprived Mike, or that your ancestors came from Iberia?

Kinda both, actually. My Hispanic ancestry is from my mother’s side of the family (my dad is a Montanan of French-Canadian descent). My maternal ancestors came from Iberia, settling in what is now South Texas during the 1750s. There wasn’t as much intermarriage with the native Indian population as there was farther south in Mexico. Thus, lighter complexions tended to prevail.

  12. Has Barry figured out how to avoid walking into the stupid police swamp again? Developing . . .

  13. sdferr — he’s TRYING to walk into it, but not be seen doing so by the whites who are marginally in his favor.

Although, given the report earlier that his campaign has given up on white, working-class voters, maybe he really doesn’t care.

I honestly believe they’re using this as part of the re-election campaign, just as they were casting voter-ID requirements as the “new Jim Crow”. Now they have their “new lynching”.

  14. Interesting, Mike.

I’m Anglo-Dutch/German but my complexion suggests that there’s a WOP in the woodpile, so to speak.

What’s funny (and by funny, I mean “makes you want to scream”) about this shooting is the way the media keeps trying to work a race angle into the story.

  15. sheesh, the Clicks have been here long enough that “mutt” is the most apt description of our heritage.

  16. Not a single one of these race hustlers will ever admit that only under capitalism and Western Civilization are they afforded the luxury of pursing such frivolous endeavors.

  17. pursing?

    gack….

    pursuing

  18. Pursing works too, since they are filling their purses with other people’s money.

  19. And now the reports are coming out that the bi-racial Zimmerman identifies as hispanic, has several black relatives and contrary to reports, did not call the kid “a coon” but rather said “punked”(I’m in Florida so this is all over the local talkers, who are trying to get the story straight, since if you listen to Sharpton, MSNBC, etc, its basically just a white guy killing an innocent black kid) Other thing not being widely reported (or wasn’t) is there had been a slew of breakins in that neighborhood by black teenagers prior to the incident. Finally, there’s some people claiming that the kid actually started a fight with Zimmerman because he was following him – this was the first I had heard about any kind of physical altercation – all I heard being reported was Zimmerman followed the kid and then shot him when he started approaching Zimmerman’s car.

Thank god Obama is now involved. Hopefully, he’ll appoint a “Trayvon Czar”. Trayvon, of course, is exactly what Obama’s son would look like if he had one.

  20. Geraldo is catching flak for saying kids shouldn’t wear hoodies unless they are playing sports, particularly if they are kids of color.

Guns don’t kill people; hoodies kill people.

  21. The problem is, if you dress like thugs dress, people might assume you’re a thug.

It’s not “fair,” of course, but there you are.

When I had long hair the police took a lot more notice of me than they do now. Such is life.

I like the castle doctrine, and I think every state should have it to allow for self-defense, but this guy went beyond self-defense, IMO.

I would prefer a return to a society in which everyone was involved in law enforcement, rather than leaving it to specialists who then become experts who then become the only people who are expected and allowed to enforce the law.

I don’t think we can get there quickly.

Therefore, I’m conflicted on this story, because I think it possible the shooter used bad judgement. However, there may not be enough evidence to bring charges.

  22. Cranky, as far as I’m concerned Zimmerman lost any claim to self-defense went he chased after the kid after being warned not to. One doesn’t get to be an instigator then but blame on the person you’re trying to harm.

  23. However, there may not be enough evidence to bring charges.

At which point, a lot of local shopkeepers will have to remind their neighbors about the castle doctrine.

    Circles within circles…

  24. I’m conflicted, too, but I also feel like I don’t have enough information to make an informed decision about what happened.

Zimmerman had blood and scratches on his face and grass stains on his back and the kid is dead. What happened?

These people who are calling for a lynching, let’s call it what it is. The cops didn’t arrest the shooter and the DA has yet to bring charges. Since law enforcement spends considerably more time on police matters than I do, I’ll defer to their judgement.

In the meantime, the shooter and his wife have been forced into hiding. Al Sharpton of “Freddy’s Fashion Mart” arson deaths fame, is again fomenting hate and mob rule. The parents are spitting on their son’s memory and cheapening his tragic (maybe) death by calling for punishment. Nobody wins and the POTUS should STFU since he said nothing about the white kid in KC who was drenched in gasoline by two black kids and torched last month because he was on “their” turf.

  25. this was the first I had heard about any kind of physical altercation

Really? When police arrived, Zimmerman was bleeding, grass-stained and wet from being on the ground.

Over at weerdworld.com are some thoughtful attempts to reconstruct what happened. The site’s author started with an attitude of “do NOT make me defend this guy! I don’t want to!” but the glee of the gun-banners and the race-hustlers has pushed him into trying to figure out what happened.

I like the castle doctrine, and I think every state should have it to allow for self-defense, but this guy went beyond self-defense, IMO.

No evidence that he went beyond the bounds. One of the possible scenarios (based on our limited information) is that he was headed back to his truck when he was jumped. It *sounds* like he was just out of his truck to double-check a house number to tell police where he last saw Martin, and that he did not “chase” Martin.

Simple fact is that barring the shocking discovery of a videotape, we’ll never know.

  26. Zimmerman lost any claim to self-defense went he chased after the kid after being warned not to.

Stop believing the press, Darleen. The police apparently didn’t think that’s what happened, and if the site were accessible, I’d quote a reasonable analysis of the 911 tapes that he never chased anyone.

  27. These people who are calling for a lynching, let’s call it what it is.

    Yep.

If it were 1932 instead of 2012, the victim would be white, the accused black, and Democrats would be just as vigorous in waving the bloody shirt and demanding “justice”.

  28. The Trayvon Martin case has…problems.

  29. POTUS should STFU since he said nothing about the white kid in KC who was drenched in gasoline by two black kids and torched last month because he was on “their” turf.

Why would POTUS say anything about THAT, when it doesn’t fit the narrative —either of the media or the Justice Department— of what a PROPER Hate Crime looks like?

  30. If it were 1932 instead of 2012, the victim would be white, the accused black, and Democrats would be just as vigorous in waving the bloody shirt and demanding “justice”

One would also have to point out that many southern Democrats jumped to the opposite party after the Civil Rights act.

  31. One would need to remember that more Democrats jumped prior to the Civil Rights act to avoid reaching a tendentious conclusion.

  32. One would do well to realize that the ultimate result of the Southern Strategy is Mitt Romney.

  33. One would also have to point out that many southern Democrats jumped to the opposite party after the Civil Rights act.

    *sigh*

    This BS again?

If, as you appear to want to say, all the racists jumped from the Democrat party after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, why did they jump to the party that overwhelmingly supported the Act? Why did they jump to the party that has always supported equal rights? Why would Klansmen be so eager to join the party of that freed slaves, desegregated the military, and sent troops to enforce desegregation of schools?

The reality is that as the south became more educated and wealthy, the Democrats were less able to manipulate the votes of low-information white voters by screaming about blacks, so they shifted to manipulating low-information black voters by screaming about whites.

(But thanks for not disputing that the Democrats are using this case as a way to gin up the mob, just like they did back in their glory days.)

  34. Ah the “Southern Strategy” — that comforting Democrat myth. That somehow trying to reach out to white southerners meant reaching out to racists. Never mind the actual evidence. Never mind facts.

Tell me, how many recent Republican candidates for president have ginned up actual race riots that ended in deaths?

  35. Untergang, you do realize the Civil Rights Act passed because the Republicans supported it more than the Democrats did? Why would racist Southern Democrats jump to a party that helped put that bill over the top?

  36. The reality is that as the south became more educated and wealthy

Sure. Because the dinosaur-riding Jesus said “Render unto Walmart that which is Chinese and ye shall buy”

  37. Fuck it, you’re a bigot, “Untergang”. I have no desire to waste my time with low-lifes like you.

Go camp in a park — just try not to rape anyone, OK?

  38. Sure. Because the dinosaur-riding Jesus said “Render unto Walmart that which is Chinese and ye shall buy”

    Oh goodness you’re precious.

    Are you for real?

  39. What kind of idiot thinks southern whites are big fans of Romney?

  40. So this “Southern Strategy” is Wal-Mart’s evil plan for global corporate domination? What’s that have to do with politics exactly?

  41. What kind of idiot thinks southern whites are big fans of Romney?

Probably the kind who’d've thought I’d've gotten along fantastically, as a Mormon, with the Southern Baptist boy who had a serious long-distance crush on me when I was in my early teens.

Because, you know, we’re both dumb Christer antiscience bitterclingers who hate sex and minorities and women, so obviously we’d go together like peas in a pod*.

    *Spoiler: Baptists despise Mormons.**
**Double spoiler: It ended in tears.

  42. Oops, italics fail.

  43. More importantly, who thinks Jesus rode a dinosaur?

Everybody knows it was Ronald Reagan who rode the dinosaur!

  44. All this speaking of southern whites has inspired me to break out the wine glasses my brother got me for Christmas. They’re Mason jars on a stem, complete with lid. Frikkin’ awesome.

  45. Silly Ernst. Didn’t you know that the seeds for Wal-Mart’s evil have existed since very near the end of the Civil War? It was that Great Terror that caused the Democratic Party to purge itself of all those who could not appreciate the needs of womenandqueersandminorities, forcibly ejecting them into the Republisphere where they were drawn together by the gravity of raw hate that seethed in the hearts of all WASPs.

It is that hatred of all that is good in communities (properly sorted by identity group and best served by committees of their enlightened betters) that at last birthed Wal-Mart upon the world, its success driven by the power of Chinese ingenuity and dinosaur-riding Jesus.

    Duh.

  46. Darth, awesome backyard you’ve got there.

  47. I’m guessing bourbon is known locally as “Kentucky wine” then Darth?

  49. Darth, awesome backyard you’ve got there.

I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking that.

  50. Remember, folks — it’s better that a thousand guilty men go free than one innocent man be convicted. Unless the Democrats see a chance to make some political hay out of it. Then fuck it all — hang the bastard.

  51. ” All this speaking of southern whites has inspired me to break out the wine glasses my brother got me for Christmas. They’re Mason jars on a stem, complete with lid. Frikkin’ awesome.”

Damn! Those are nice. I’m on the internet looking for my own set of those!

  52. Stupid troll trying to hijack the thread: Be gone!

  53. The Southern Strategy. That’s the one where Democrats stopped pitting whites against blacks and started pitting blacks against whites, right?

  54. That’s the one, Ernst. We never get any smart trolls.

  55. Sorry Rob I hadn’t heard those details until today. Darlene, if he followed the guy, there’s nothing wrong w that from a legal standpoint. Zimmerman, while likely an idiot, was part of the neighborhood watch and saw someone suspicious who may have been breaking into houses. It was inadvisable but if he was then assaulted? And that’s what it sounds like happened. I heard the 911 call of the witness and she said (and you can hear) someone screaming for help, multiple times, then the witness hears a shot. There’s no scenario that a makes sense where it’s Trayvon doing the screamin, based on the 911 call. Also, more info on Trayvon, who is being portrayed as a helpless teenager, a good kid. He was a six foot two football player and allegedly had been suspended from school for 5 days.

There’s a good reason the DA s office hasn’t had him arrested. The reason is, because Zimmermans story makes sense and matches the physical evidence. My concern is he’s going to be railroaded to fit “the narrative”. You think Obama is above telling Captain Corruption, Eric Holder, to get involved? And we know what happe then. Zimmerman becomes the Duke lacrosse team.

  56. I dunno. You keep hearing conflicting reports about how our prison system treats people–on the one hand it’s a horrific place where people become institutionalized to violence and terrible behavior; on the other, they get three hots and a cot; access to health & legal care above and beyond what they’d have as free, private individuals; nuptial visits; etc., etc.. Maybe temporary incarceration of innocents to keep repeat offenders off the street is not what we should be concerned about here.

  57. Personally, I can’t wait for the reductio ad absurdam that a reasonable fear that one’s life was in danger is pruf [stet] of a hate-crime.

    Oh wait. Yes I can.

  58. Nobody wins and the POTUS should STFU since he said nothing about the white kid in KC who was drenched in gasoline by two black kids and torched last month because he was on “their” turf.

    also,

    what the hell

    seriously.

  59. baracky: “zimmerman acted stupidly”

  60. According to reports by a neighbor, a nurse who vouched for Zimmerman, he is a good guy who kept an eye on the neighborhood. The stories about him calling the cops 50+ times? Those took place over a period of years, from her account, and were related to the neighborhood watch program, of which he was the captain.

Apparently, there had been a number of burglaries where easily fenced goods (laptops, desktops, dvrs, &C) had been stolen in the past few weeks. The nurse who gave the report about Zimmerman said that he had called her neighbor to let him know that her garage door was open when she was on vacation. It was stated that she had been robbed, just that Zimmerman was a vigilant guy—NOT a vigilante.

He had been employed as a security guard, and was taking Criminal Justice classes at one of the local Community Colleges. Dude is married to a girl who is a hairdresser and they own a townhome in the neighborhood. They sound like any other lower middle class couple with blue collar jobs and their first home.

Lionizing the dead kid and demonizing the guy who shot him (who will have to live that for the rest of his life) when all the facts aren’t in is wrong. And worse, could get Zimmerman and/or his wife killed.

No justice, no peace, my eye.

  61. *not stated*

  62. Remind me not to read the comments section on NYT pieces.

The “NYT Picks” comments say a lot about how the editorial staff feel on things, though.

  63. I’m wondering if anyone is calling the POTUS’ remarks a “dog whistle”?

Or do we have to remind them how that works?

  64. The believers ears are always pricked with that prick leigh, so no, reminding they don’t need.

  65. Given the information I’ve seen in this thread, I’m walking back my previous statement. I hope we get the facts instead of just the shitstorm we’re going to see.

  66. No justice, no peace, my eye.

Keep in mind that by “justice” Sharpton, et. al. mean “kill whitey”.

  67. I hope we get the facts instead of just the shitstorm we’re going to see.

Ayep. What a pity we don’t have an industry dedicated to propagating information to keep the public informed.

Snark aside, I’m amazed at how brazenly the press is acting on this. The raw material — arrest report, 911 tape, etc. — are available to the public. Yet the press is pushing distortions, half-truths, and out-and-out lies. They’re going to get more people kill, convince more poor kids that law enforcement is just out to get them, and cause more racial strife.

And you know damned well they’re doing it to prop up their thug in the White House.

Truth is not important. Narrative is.

This is why I’m irate that they and their supporters dare make any pretense at calling themselves supporters of science or truth.

  69. So our trolls now come pre-Godwined?

  70. There were two British tourists killed in Florida this week for the “crime” of having no money when they were robbed by two young black men who were following them (one with a handkerchief over his face—as you do). The victims were drunk, white and meandering back to their hotel when they stumbled into the wrong neighborhood. The robbers (the article I read says “alleged”) decided to shoot them when they were found not to have enough money on them.

Their relatives who had driven back to their rental previously, now get to fly them home and make funeral arrangements.

  71. Link to the page Crawford mentioned.

  72. Thanks, geoffb.

  73. so is msnbc now part of rev al’s crusade? or vis a versa?

  74. Probably. He’s on their payroll and he’s a rabble-rousing douchebag bigmouth who grabs a lot of attention.

  75. “bigmouth who grabs a lot of attention.”

    but not too many eyeballs

  76. There were two British tourists killed in Florida this week

Of course they went after the tourists leigh. The locals have been armed for a long, long time now.

  77. I don’t think they were wearing name-tags, but I know what you mean.

My larger point is that whites are slain ALL THE TIME by blacks and unless the person killed is prominent, it gets brushed aside.

Why is the Justice Department getting involved in this?

Wait! Could it be because the GOP convention is in Florida this summer? Nah…

  78. The InstaPundit links this article claiming Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin, according to an eye witness. Who knows? I’m thinking anyone with a lick of sense will wait for the coroner’s inquest/grand jury report before jumping to any conclusions here because there are definitely two sides to the story.

So I’m sure President Stupidly will be weighing in any time now….

  79. @Swen: The link above, as mentioned by Crawford and delivered by geoffb, paints a pretty clear picture from extant data that Zimmerman definitely was under assault and fired a single shot only after calling for help failed.

So it’s less a “who knows” and more a “dueling narratives” at this point.

  80. It’s odd in this day and age to see people rushing to lynch a Latino.

Really thought this country had moved past such backwardness when it elected a black president.

  81. Maybe these politicians and media outlets could take some sensitivity courses to explore why they look at people of color and only see murderers.

Hey, it might only be their unconscious racism but that really isn’t any excuse.

  82. Bh, of course you realize that America must now elect a Latino president to move past the next backwardness.

I vote we load up on the identity labels and make it a gay intergendered Latino/Latina (or Latina/Latino) Wiccan multiple amputee. Just to save time.

Of course Rush Limbaugh has joked about being a male lesbian, so he’s got the first two.

  83. to lynch a Latino

Not so, not so. Race being a social construct, he has been constructed as white as that is the socially convenient convention to aid our (socially constructed as) black President in his time of electoral woe.

  84. I have not uncommonly heard the “male lesbian” label applied by men to themselves, though I’m not sure if they would exactly self-identify as transgender if you asked them.

I am all for Rush also self-identifying as a transracial Latino. He can also be a transabled amputee.

  85. How about a gay intergendered Latino/Latina (or Latina/Latino) Wiccan multiple amputee ginger, McG? Gotta figure they’re finally due.

Geoff, we’ll know they’re seriously out for blood when Jesse Jackson and Farrakhan start mentioning how very Jewy Zimmerman sounds.

  86. Isn’t it Rev-Al down there? Or is this a trifecta of hustlers?

  87. Ya got me. I just assume they’re all doing their little dance on this kid’s grave in some form or another.

  88. I think we’ve had red-haired men who became president. They probably weren’t by the time they got there, but…

  89. Seems like FROTUS has always encouraged his followers to “keep an eye out for suspicious behavior,” and “get in your neighbor’s face”.

I think we all know where the blame lies.

  90. I think you guys are overlooking the dudes last name: Zimmerman.

    Ain’t that a Jew name?

  91. Pellegri says March 23, 2012 at 9:26 pm

After reading the police report linked by Leigh, and the reports at the link I provided, I think all we can say at this point is that there was a scuffle, Zimmerman was losing the fight and hollered for help, and then Trayvon Martin was shot. We don’t know who initiated the scuffle and that’s the key point — did Zimmerman jump Martin, who was fighting back and winning? Was Zimmerman retreating when Martin jumped him? We don’t know at this point and we may never know, as the witness’ testimony is incomplete. He didn’t see who started the altercation, only the last bit after Zimmerman was on his back on the ground.

Zimmerman may have been acting in self-defense after being assaulted by Martin, in which case the shooting is justified. Or Martin may have been acting in self-defense after being assaulted by Zimmerman. We simply don’t know which of those instances is the case. In the later case, you don’t get to shoot your opponent when he’s winning a fight you started and then claim self-defense.

So yeah, we’ve definitely got “dueling narratives”. Which one is correct — or at least more correct — we don’t yet know. What we do know is that Martin was not ‘sitting on his porch when some white guy shot him’ as his mother maintains. But I’m sure some will believe that too.

And President Stupidly isn’t quite as stupid as I’d thought. Here’s his comment:

“I think [Trayvon’s parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.” …

“I’m head of the executive branch and the attorney general reports to me, so I’ve got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we’re not impairing any investigation that’s taking place right now,” he said.

Apparently King Putt learned something from the Henry Louis Gates affair and isn’t shooting from the lip this time. You can bet he’d be making hay from this issue if he thought he could, and you can bet that his advisors have combed through every bit of evidence and testimony looking for hay to make.

Reading between the lines, that Putt is being cautious suggests that his legal advisors have concluded that Zimmerman will be exhonerated and I think it’s likely he will be, if only for lack of witnesses from the other side. My dear old Dad — the deputy sheriff — cautioned me that if I ever shot someone I should be sure to kill him because then there would only be one side of the story to tell. In the end I think that principle will apply here.

  93. Or did Trayvon go after the gun first? Nobody knows shit about what happened.

Santorum and Gingrich have already made statements questioning Zimmerman.

Huge protests against Zimmerman in Athens and all over the country, ridiculously biased press everywhere I have looked. The corruption is too deep, we are fucked.

  94. I tend to agree with Allen West. This was a travesty; a misguided, poorly-trained do-gooder who overstepped the bounds of reasonable, intelligent response to a situation he seems to have instigated and killed an unarmed, harmless kid.

    There’s good reason Zimmerman wasn’t a cop.

  95. Huge protests against Zimmerman in Athens and all over the country, ridiculously biased press everywhere I have looked. The corruption is too deep, we are fucked.

Yep. This is who they are. This is what they do.

Using this as an attempt to smear the ideology that matches that of our founding — and a bunch of the legacy media, race pimps, and our Marxist President happily go along.

Divide and conquer. Use this to step up gun control and bracket the failure of your last attempt, Fast and Furious, which the media largely ignored.

And we offer Mitt Romney. If we don’t fight back fiercely against this latest, this country is already dead.

  96. This was a travesty; a misguided, poorly-trained do-gooder who overstepped the bounds of reasonable, intelligent response to a situation he seems to have instigated and killed an unarmed, harmless kid.

If you look at the actual, physical evidence there is nothing to back any of that up.

Zimmerman’s 911 call he sounds completely calm and professional, he obviously wasn’t chasing anyone. The kid was a lean, 6’2″ football player who was visiting his dad because he had been suspended from school. The police found Zimmerman at the scene, wet, dirty, and bleeding from two places on his head.

There are several other 911 calls where the caller reports the kid was on top of Zimmerman beating his ass and Zimmerman is calling for help.

Zimmerman was short, over-weight and middle aged, the idea that he outran a teen age athlete is ridiculous.

How much of this have you heard or read in the “real news”?

  97. The pressure is enormous to convict this guy, despite what the evidence says, or else risk race riots. The President and the leftists have stoked this. Mob mentality.

I’m serious. Fast and Furious is on the backburner now. This will be used to carry the flag for gun control. And the narrative jdw just noted is the one we’ll eventually settle on as the middle ground, true or not. It is that narrative that Charles Pierce (kinda) trots out in his Esquire piece. Doesn’t matter if the guy thought he was acting in self defense. Without the gun, this poor black youth would still be alive.

  98. They’ll get Zimmerman on a Federal civil rights charge.

  99. Where did the fight take place in relation to Zimmerman’s truck? If it was close to it that would go to him not chasing Martin but Martin coming back to attack him.

And without the gun, Zimmerman would be…?

  101. Yup, Ernst. But what do you expect? It ain’t like he’s a Black Panther.

Still, I’d like to see the Hispanic community march. Obama is backing off largely I think because Zimmerman ain’t the white Germanic Jew the President probably thought he was. Obama doesn’t want to risk the Hispanic voter backlash…

  102. There would be no Federal civil rights investigation by the Justice Department. There would be no comments from a president who seems congenitally unable to keep his mouth shut on matters involving left-wing political correctness. And there would be no national media attention from biased, left-wing “reporters.”

We know this because in fact, such an event occurred in 2009 in Greece, N.Y., a suburb of Rochester. Roderick Scott, a black man, shot and killed an unarmed white teen, Christopher Cervini, whom he believed was burglarizing a neighbor’s car, with a licensed .40 cal. handgun.

There are many similarities between the Scott-Cervini case and the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case in Florida. In both cases, there had been a spate of criminal activity in the neighborhood. In both cases, the shooters called 911 to report suspicious activity, yet chose to confront the unarmed suspects outside their residence and off their own property prior to the arrival of the police. In both cases, the shooters claimed that they felt threatened, and fired in self-defense. In both cases, local law enforcement applied relevant state law.

  103. And without the gun, Zimmerman would be…?

Beaten and maimed and Reginald Denny’d for presuming to do the job of law enforcement, the no-good busybody do-gooder.

    String him up.

  104. If he was lucky.

I know of a half-dozen or so cases of outside the bar/in the parking lot fights where guys end up going to prison for manslaughter because the other guy either got hit in the head or hit his head when he hit the ground.

  105. Allen West (couldn’t link earlier; those Smartphones are but teasers)…boldings mine.

I have sat back and allowed myself time to assess the current episode revealing itself in Sanford, Florida involving the shooting of 17-year-old Treyvon Martin. First of all, if all that has been reported is accurate, the Sanford Police Chief should be relieved of his duties due to what appears to be a mishandling of this shooting in its early stages. The US Navy SEALS identified Osama Bin Laden within hours, while this young man laid on a morgue slab for three days. The shooter, Mr Zimmerman, should have been held in custody and certainly should not be walking free, still having a concealed weapons carry permit. From my reading, it seems this young man was pursued and there was no probable cause to engage him, certainly not pursue and shoot him….against the direction of the 911 responder. Let’s all be appalled at this instance not because of race, but because a young American man has lost his life, seemingly, for no reason. I have signed a letter supporting a DOJ investigation. I am not heading to Sanford to shout and scream, because we need the responsible entities and agencies to handle this situation from this point without media bias or undue political influences. This is an outrage.

I don’t know if he’s speaking of ‘outrage’ being the media biases and undue political influences, or the situation itself. Both qualify.

I’m willing to let these other agencies investigate, and determine exactly what happened, firstly. The rest of the hyper-racial bloviating is just that, and should rightly be condemned. ‘Outrage’ will work as a descriptor.

OT, but only slightly, the black NYPD detective, Gescard Isnora, who started the ’50-bullet barrage’ that killed Sean Bell on his wedding day has been fired, and stripped of any chance of getting a pension. Three other cops also released, but they will keep their pensions.

  106. Allen West wasn’t there. There are links a plenty to the actual police report and all of the various 911 calls are also available on line, as well as witness reports.

Look them up. Read and listen and draw your own conclusions.

  107. Allen West should be keeping out of this for now, as well. Because what comes to count as “pursued” is quite subjective; it intimates an active chase, and I haven’t yet heard anything about that. And even so, following someone — even if the police tell you not to — isn’t a crime, and doesn’t justify an assault, if in fact that’s what happened.

Those closest to the incident early on didn’t think Zimmerman should be arrested. I’m sure they had their reasons, and I’m likewise sure that those reasons, if they were racially motivated, had to deploy some hierarchy of racial animus. Which is doubtful. Cracker cops had a dead black (yay!) and coulda pinned it on an uppity wetback (double yay!). They didn’t.

  108. anyway, we’re off to the doctor’s office. Have a nice, racial-demagoguery free day.

  109. “…if all that has been reported is accurate…”

Allen’s first second mistake right there.

  110. Trayvon Martin did not live in Sanford. He lived in Miami. He was in Sanford because he had been suspended from school for 5 days and was apparently in Sanford, staying with relatives (this part is confusing). He didn’t know the neighborhood, the neighbors didn’t know him. He was wandering around in the rain and off the street or walks, indeed, in people’s yards where he had no business being. I don’t blame Zimmerman for asking him what he was doing there since there had been numerous break-ins by black yoots in the past weeks.

Allan West needs to join the POTUS in the STFU corner until all the facts are in.

  111. Allen West, with his arttul use of qualifiers (helpfully bolded above) has positioned himself to come out of this stinking bruhaha smelling much better than our erstwhile little president-man. Who has once against positioned himself to fail, spectacularly.

    Because, well, SCOAMF.

  112. He lost his life because he misjudged his prey.

That is the most basic reason in history.

  113. I want to like Allen West too, but that much qualification suggests he should have kept his mouth shut. Or limited himself to affirming our faith in the justice system and calling for patience as we wait for the legal process to work itself out, if he felt like he had to say something.

  114. Is Sanford even in the district he’s hoping to represent, or is he just making unnecessary trouble for himself?

  115. Sanford isn’t even bordering West’s district.

  116. how about his new one?

  117. Still not all that close newrouter. He’s from down just north of Miami. Sanford’s northeast of Orlando just south of Deland.

  118. Some eleven years ago, more or less, I ran screaming from the Democrats, head afire, searching for an alternative from among the Republicans.

Then slam bang-on into John McCain and/or Mitt Romney.

    Now where ?

  119. More informations about Trayvon , including evidence of photoshopping on widely circulated photo used in the media.

Suspended for 10 days, not 5 as originally reported.

  120. Gateway to Auto-Train it is, then.
