  1. Joe says:

Palin is a conservative? Shocking! Well that is that, the GOP can never support that snowbillie.

I was caught in traffic yesterday and head Brooks on NPR. He said if Cain or Bachman win Iowa, then the GOP jump up to snuff out their candidacies. That is not an exact quote, but it was sort of like that. And the truth is, he is probably correct (not right, mind you, just correct).

  2. Jeff G. says:

Noonan called her crazy. As opposed to Mitt, a man of sober mien.

That’s right. Peggy Noonan is back. After spending 2008 fawning over Obama, we’re going to be asked to listen to her and her like yet again when they tell us how to win and who is “electable.”

  3. cranky-d says:

I used to read Noonan. That was in the before-times. I’m not sure whether she left me or I left her, but her GOP establishment hackery is unreadable to me now.

I will continue to watch the talking heads on FauxNewz, and continue to yell at them when they’re wrong, which is whenever they start cutting down candidates just because they didn’t go the right schools and don’t have the right background.

All of them are in for a surprise, I think, and it will probably be a nasty one. I doubt any of them will learn from it.

  4. Joe says:

Noonan is like an old lady who wears too much make up and wanders aimlessly up and down the supermarket isles.

  5. Darleen says:

Oh good lord, I’m scrolling down the “updates” and it is embarrassing. The emails are routine, mundane, totally expected and yet the people posting the updates gotta editorialize around ’em

06/10/2011 4:51 PM What To Say About Trig

In mid-August 2008, Palin announced that she would be hosting a baby shower with Trig to benefit military families. But when it came down to writing up the p.r., the governor needed a ghostwriter to help pen a quote about her newborn.

She wrote to her staffers via email: “can u think of a powerful quote to put in there re: we’ve been blessed with trig, now’s a fun opportunity to bless others through kwhl’s event.?”

    — Jason Cherkis

But I’m getting some glee from the updaters having to post that the lies about Sarah aren’t being supported by the emails:

*Sarah Palin appeared to sour on the so-called “Bridge to Nowhere” in 2007, writing in private emails to her staff that she might support returning funds for the bridge to the federal government for other infrastructure projects. […]

Palin officially abandoned the plan for the bridge in Sept. 2007, a move touted during her campaign as John McCain’s running mate the following year. Palin was widely criticized for claiming to have killed the “Bridge to Nowhere” because funds to the project had already gone dry.

But although she had previously supported the bridge, private emails reveal that she did not simply end the project to score a political win.

  6. Blake says:

Maybe someone could tell Noonan her “use by” date came and went about 10 years ago.

  7. Carin says:

This is like that Geraldo Rivera special where he was going to open some tomb and find Jimma HOffa or something.

  8. Pablo says:

The LA Times is asking for help finding the smoking gun. You’d think that if they juast wanted a big story, they could drop that Obama/Rashid Khalidi tape they’ve been sitting on for 3 years.

  9. Bordo says:

This is like that Geraldo Rivera special where he was going to open some tomb and find Jimma HOffa or something.

    Carin…beat me to it.

    This is exactly like that.

Actually, maybe not exactly. Given the media penchant for just making shit up it’d be more like Geraldo opening Al Capone’s tomb, finding it empty, and then insisting Al was in there having a party.

  10. Spiny Norman says:

    Pablo,

Rashid Khalidi? Pishtosh! The Times has the Democrat political agenda to advance.

The funny thing is, the Santa Monica / Westside Proggies will always hate the LA Times, no matter how far left that rag slides. You see, the Times can never be forgiven for the demise of the laughably leftist Herald-Examiner (even though they had nothing to do with it).

  11. Pellegri says:

Actually, Darleen, my favorite is the one where they think it’s a HUGE REVELATION she needed help (on her busy schedule) REMEMBERING TO PICK UP HER MOM*. And milk.

Because not a one of us has ever, in all our lives, with much less stressful schedules than a governor, asked someone else to remind us to pick up a beloved family member from the airport.

NO. SARAH PALIN IS A FAILURE TO ALL HER CONSERVATIVE VALUES BECAUSE SHE FORGOT ABOUT HER MOTHER.

  12. dicentra says:

Don’t miss the #palinemails topic on Twitter.

Yesterday it was filled with breathless lefties hoping to finally get to the bottom of whatever it is they’re trying to get to the bottom of.

Today it’s mostly snark from the right about what they “found.”

  13. Pellegri says:

    xenijardin Xeni Jardin
Printing them on paper was bad. But if Alaska really wanted to mess with reporters working on #palinemails they should have used Comic Sans.

    I lol’d.

  14. Darleen says:

    Pellegri

And the revelation that she does NOT swear in her emails … wow, imagine that!

  15. Pellegri says:

    Seriously!

And yet there are still people struggling to maintain the proper level of leftoid disdain because they can’t possibly admire this woman. Or even admit that she’s somehow exactly what she appears to be.

    Mind = blown.

  16. guinsPen says:

Today 10:57 AM Dems Annoyed Palin

Get in fucking line, Madam Governor.

  17. Pablo says:

It looks like Sarah Palin is winning again. Imagine that.

  18. Spiny Norman says:

It’s amazing how many “own goals” she provokes/inspires.

  19. Pablo says:

At the end of the day, this is a big old feather in Sarah’s cap. They finally got the Sarah motherlode, and they…came…up…empty. All that data, and she’s squeaky clean. How dare she????

  20. Crawford says:

Can we now demand equal disclosure from all the other potential candidates?

  21. Junk Science Skeptic says:

RE: Darleen’s post of the Cherkis quote

In one of my day jobs, I deal with hundreds of accomplished writers and PR pros. Can’t say I’ve ever met one who hadn’t experienced writers block and asked for help with some frequency. But more to the point, a universal truth is that all of these pros can generate words by the thousand about this widget, or that policy, but every one of them sucks at writing strong, concise statements about themselves. A 300-word history, maybe if I’m lucky, but a good three-line bio, not a snowball’s chance in hell.

So the idea that Palin had the common sense to ask for help to writing a solid biographical quote is a perfect illustration of a successful leader seeking advice. She realized she was stuck, and instead of letting her ego get in the way, she asked for help.

I’m guessing that she’d also consult the White House’s in-house protocol office for tips before making a toast to the Queen of England.

  22. geoffb says:

Cherry Garcia just spewed all over the recliner.

After Sarah Palin revealed she was pregnant with son Trig in March 2008, her office quickly zeroed in on then-state Senate president Lyda Green as the source of rumors that Bristol Palin was actually carrying the baby, according to emails released Friday.

  24. Pellegri says:

Oh, now they’re generating noise that all the good stuff has been redacted because it took two years for the e-mails to be released.

SPIN FASTER. HURRY. WE CAN STILL SNATCH VICTORY FROM THE JAWS OF AN EMBARRASSING SELF-INDUCED FAILURE.

  25. JD says:

Pellagra – they are rather pathetic, no? Lack of evidence is now proof of a conspiracy.

  26. Pellegri says:

    Absolutely.

I’m going through and marking any of the pages of random Blackberry-generated code as “Palingate!” on the Grauniad’s website just to spike their system. Because I’m ~classy~ like that.

  27. Pellegri says:

Also, man. These people in #palinemails are proper screwed on their conspiracy chasing if I’m the only person who can do a proper traceroute.

  28. geoffb says:

The release of 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin’s emails shows that she received a barrage of abusive emails including death threats in the run up to the 2008 presidential race.
    […]
Five days earlier an email landed in her in-box saying she “must be killed.”

It said: “She doesn’t belong to the NRA to support the right of each citizen to have weapons in an aim of self-defence, but just to support the right of every southern white citizen to shoot all non-white people legally! Sarah Palin MUST BE KILLED!”
    […]
It said Mrs Palin should be shot and that “only on that moment justice will be accomplished.”

Have any of these dumbasses actually looked up the history of gun control? It was exactly so that non-white people could be disarmed and left defenseless.

  32. geoffb says:

Dumb? Maybe, but they are either ignorant and in thrall, brainwashed to be in thrall, to an evil or they know that which they do and are thus simply evil in and of themselves.

  34. Mikey NTH says:

She comes across as sane and reasonable.
This cannot be permitted, she must be destroyed.

  35. LTC John says:

Somewhere a red velvet cupcake is sprinkled with tears…

Oh, and Peggy Noonan – I gave up on her in 2004 when she proclaimed how she was “tired” – all the “history” being made was wearying her. I read that after an 11 hour foot patrol up and down some hills and cliffsides along the Panjshir River in NE Afghanistan (having already been away from home for many a month at that point). I believe my immediate reaction was to actually say “F#$% you!” out loud.

I got to agree on that one. Both actually.
