"And that is what democracy actually looks like."

Stephen Hayes provides the WI coda.

For background, see this, also from Hayes. Seems strange that if Walker “didn’t run on” collective bargaining reform — as the Journal Sentinel’s Politifact Wisconsin now states — the Journal Sentinel itself would have written this back on Sept 13:

Walker wants to make it easier for school districts and local governments to buy insurance through a state-run health benefits program. Barrett would require local governments to insure their workers through a similar program, and he is interested in having schools eventually do the same.

How much money the proposals would save is a question. But both would require legislation. That’s because current state law makes it difficult if not impossible to make any changes in health benefits without the approval of the unions that represent government workers. Under state law, health benefits that are part of an employee’s total compensation are subject to collective bargaining.

Who knows? Maybe they don’t read their own paper.

And would you blame them?

All I could think of, after going to this link was this; while I danced a little dance.

Kyle Olson and also the Maciver Institute have both done amazing work digging into the mess that is WEAC/WEA Trust.

I mentioned some of this in another thread, but is worth repeating. Walker and the Republican’s have a mountain of justification for these reforms and changes. The response is indicative of how much a threat to the establishment those changes are. And thus our jubilation.

God, I feel good right now.

    Zinger.

I doubt any of these union thugs could put up with real democracy; other than as a nebulous concept that they can fashion into a club with which to beat anyone who disagrees with them, they probably haven’t the faintest notion of how it’s supposed to work.

Oh, any word on their having found Jimmy Hoffa yet ?

One thing that should be perfectly clear to Governor Walker and all the elected Republicans there by now is that they cannot trust any Democrat in any way. The Wisconsin Democrats partake of the same character that was attributed to Bill Clinton by a home town newspaperman who knew him well. He would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth.

They need to make sure that all the nefarious dealings are made a matter of public record. Very public record. Repeatedly. Nationally. Soonest.

Republicans still seem to want the media to love them for some reason. It’s like a strange form of “battered wife syndrome”. As in – “maybe if I do the right things they won’t hit me.” Yes, it would be nice to have a civil dialogue, but that is not going to happen. Gird your loins and be prepared to do battle. If you can’t outsmart the MSM then get out of the business. They only pretend to like you. They hate all conservatives with a passion.

Spot on Rupert. The Dems are saying that Wisco is a big win for them, and the MSM perpetuates the big lie. No death threats? Sure. Obama has created or saved 3.5 mil jobs? We’re on it! 11% unemployment makes people feel more confident than 4.7%? Makes sense to me.

I pity anyone who gets their info spoon fed to them by these losses. Go and see. Think for yourself. Use any common sense that your god gave you. And if He gave you none, become an MSM reporter.

If there were any question that the deal was dead, the Democratic leader dispelled it by issuing a letter Monday to Walker through the media. His missive called for a meeting near the Illinois-Wisconsin border—an absurd request given the regular negotiations that had been quietly taking place for a week.

“He was trying to frame the debate as if we hadn’t been negotiating,” says one source close to Walker. “We’d been taking hits in the media for refusing to negotiate, and we never went public to push back on that so as to not jeopardize the progress we thought we were making.

This is why you don’t negotiate with terrorists.

Right out of the gate, it’s a good morning and it has hardly begun. Here’s to hoping Maciver is just getting warmed up; with the teasers they did last night.

“They don’t know how to compete,” she said. “Their way of competing to get my business back is to sue me. That’s not how you get business back.”

As the far-left protesters continue to intimidate and threaten those who wish to exercise their First Amendment right “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” I am reminded of something that “Dave the Marine” said to me while signing the petition on Saturday, “These damn protesters in Madison remind me of the spoiled college punks who screwed us during Viet Nam, and I can tell you first hand the Viet Cong loved them.” Then as now, the communists love their useful idiots.

  12. The Monster says:

Oh, and by the way, the reason the unions insist on having health insurance provided by a certain particular company is that it’s owned by the union, and the increased cost to the various local governments goes straight to the union bosses.

    Convenient, innit?

geoffb – if you are ever going through Northwest Indiana don’t take the high speed train. The Cline Ave. extension works great and has only collapsed twice. (just a few billion) Union Labor and Democratic machine politics have assured us nothing but progress.
