Justice Department Disdains Voters’ Rights [Dan Collins]

The Washington Times has the whole sad, sick story of the Obama Justice Department’s decision to vacate a judgment of 3 Black Panthers who intimidated voters at a Philadelphia polling place, while voicing racial slurs. The three refused to appear in court.  Given the outcry over ACORN, this was perhaps not merely a failure of justice, but of judgment.  An affidavit from a well-known Sixties civil rights advocate somehow managed not to be entered into evidence.  Hugo Chavez approves.

    Post-racial Dan…

Just keep repeating that and you’ll convince yourself of it…

I mean, it worked for 52 percent of the nation…

  2. Bob Reed says:

I know that O’Reilly is persona-non-grata on the internet right now, but he had a fascinating interview with the fellow you mention here, Bartle Bull; who took the video of the men while serving as an official poll watcher…

In addition to citing the racist remarkes the men made, Bull-a longtime civil rights advocate and member of Bobby Kennedy’s 1968 campaign apparatus, mentioned that it is the only time in his life that he can recall armed men intimidating voters at a polling place; an astonishing statement by someone with his resume who is anything but a member of the vast right wing conspiracy…

And, what these thugs were saying came true; We are being ruled by a black man, crack-ahz…

I’d make a quip about Philly, but this matter is too serious for that…

    Judgement!, Honesty!, Justice!, Ethics!

    O!

  3. ccoffer says:

    I see dead panthers.

  4. psycho... says:

Eliding the distinction may serve a purpose — their purpose, but hey — but these guys aren’t Black Panthers. They’re New Black Panthers. No relation, except for the misappropriated name.

The actual Black Panthers wouldn’t be getting a You go, girl from the DOJ — “Obama” or otherwise.

    Because of the outlawry.

  5. Bob Reed says:

    Good point psycho

Yeah, but he banned Patterico, and Patterico’s whining about it.

I dunno about you, but it makes me chuckle.

  7. Bob Reed says:

    O’Reilly is a riot some nights Rob…

And, he gets some pretty good interviews from time to time too…

  8. 80 years says:

Pssst… I heard that Patterico was banned for making death threats against Bill O’Reilly. Pass it on.

  9. JD says:

That is pretty dishonest, 80 years.

  10. Rob Crawford says:

Is it just me, or does it seem like the trolls are waiting to hear the talking points on this whole New Black Panthers thing?

  11. Adriane says:

Since Green is the New Black, shouldn’t these people be called the Green Panthers?

  12. JD says:

Rob C – I suspect that they will simply ignore this one at all costs, just like the cheerleaders/fluffers in the MSM.

“You’re about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

    Ah, post racial bliss.

    Thanks Bammy!

  15. Pablo says:

    Why, yes, that is dishonest.

    The irony is thick today.

  16. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

By this math, a few Klan goons drinking Milwaukee’s Best, hanging out in front of a Federal/ State appointed voting booth, yellin’ at voters, “White power & ni**er, don’t let the sun set on you here”…

    …is apparently kosher now?

DOJ will certainly have to give the Klan a friggin “voter intimidation” pass too won’t they?

Way to go Bammy! 100 days, 1,000 fuck ups.

    Impressive.

  17. Barack, Prince of Peas says:

Those are not the Panthers I knew.

    The New Ones, that is.

    Greetings:

Attorney General Holder seems to be continuing in the tradition of his actions during the Clinton administration which he seemed to have disavowed during his “advise and consent” hearings before the US Senate.

First, he ignored the Office of Legal Counsel’s finding that congressional efforts to create a US Representative position for the District of Columbia and shopped around the executive branch for a more supportive opinion.

Now, he approves the dismissal of a Voting Rights violation case that had be won at the initial judicial level.

    Apple. Tree.

    I wonder what’s next.

You’re still making the assumption of equality before the law. I don’t think that’s a valid assumption anymore.

  25. SBP says:

Maybe if the Klan brings a wise Latina woman along with them?

  26. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

“You’re still making the assumption of equality before the law. I don’t think that’s a valid assumption anymore.”

But, but… I’ve been assured Senora [La Raza] Sotoma-YOR rules only according to precedent and not empathy/race/prejudice. Senior Gibbs says so. Senora [La Raza] Sotoma-YOR simply misspoke…five seperate times…in the same prepared speech.

So…you are wrong Senior Roberto De La Crawford.

  27. JD says:

We are still equal in front of the law, it is just that some people are more equal.

  30. Jack says:

“You’re gonna be ruled by a black man, cracka.”

I was told the same thing by a black woman begging for change outside the liquor store where I get essential supplies.

My guess is that there is no black American citizen who would like to be ruled by a black man if they were living in Africa.

Obama wouldn’t have made it without a fawning press.

  31. Rob Crawford says:

    Still nothing from the Obamatons?

  32. JD says:

    I was right, Rob ;-)

  33. sdferr says:

Here’s another case, wherein the Obama DoJ stands up against its own political constituency, taking more or less the course that the Bush DoJ would have taken in its place. Hand over classified documents pertaining to warrantless wiretaps to lawyers suing the Government on behalf of a declared terrorist supporting organization or face some sanction, says the judge. Bite me, says AG Holder.

One cannot imagine the Gleens will be pleased.

As long as they don’t have a weapon!

  35. B Moe says:

You hicks all missed the important part, as usual:

Tensions between career lawyers and political appointees inside the Justice Department have been a sensitive matter since allegations surfaced during the Bush administration that higher-ups had ignored or reversed staff lawyers and that some U.S. attorneys had been removed or selected for political reasons.

    It’s all Bush’s fault.

  36. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

    “It’s all Bush’s fault.”

    Wow.

He’s Skull & Bones AND a Black Panther! Double threat guy.

  37. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

    “Still nothing from the Obamatons?”

Yeah, this thread was a little light.

    Can’t imagine why.

I swear to sit here and be quiet if any of Comrade Fuckup McSpendypants’ disciples wanna step up and spin this.

  38. ducktrapper says:

On this brand new day in our beautiful post racial world we discover that Neo Nazis are doubleplusungood while New Black Panthers are acceptable. Orwell right again. I have committed thoughtcrime.

  39. sdferr says:

    Obama’s foreign policy proceeds apace:

Yesterday in Cairo, an uncharacteristically defiant Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas offered an updated version of these no’s: “No amending the Arab peace plan; No normalization without withdrawal; and no to the Jewishness of the Israeli state.”

The consequences of some errors of misjudgment in statecraft are correctable. The consequences of others cannot be undone. Let’s hope that Obama’s errors prove to be more of the former sort than the latter. The odds against however, are lengthening.
