MOUTH BUT NO MONEY on Proposition 8? Generally, when I “beat the bushes†for contributions, I also contribute myself. Apparently Andrew Sullivan feels differently, or perhaps there’s some mistake somewhere.
Maybe that’s because he’s generally on the receiving end of the beating. NTTAWWT.
There’s lip service, and there’s service.
NOTE: The following is posted at the donations website linked by Andrew:
Contributions to No On 8 are not deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes.
There are no contribution limits for donations to ballot measure committees.
Please note that foreign nationals are prohibited from making contributions to this campaign.
State law requires contributors to provide occupation and employer information.
So, I apologize to Andrew. On the other hand, did Andrew’s husband donate?
Not trying to defend Sully, but can he legally donate since he’s not a citizen? (Although that didn’t seem to stop a lot of donations in another election)
I thought nobody would mention that here. I wonder if ‘Insty’ will post an update.
Well, that’s true, and there’s even this notice posted on the donations page at the site:
On the other hand, did Andrew’s husband donate?
David, do you wonder if Michael Petralis will post an update?
Somewhere I read ‘let not the left hand know what the right hand is giving’. In this case, Sully & the Ms. aren’t publicly blowing their trumpets, nor are they seeking the glory
holeof men.[…] UPDATE: You’d think that, but apparently you’d be wrong: Dan Collins says foreign nationals can’t donate. So no story […]
Maybe they’re taking a walk on Queer street?
(Yeah, I know. Denounced!)
Well, that settles that. INSTALANCHE!!

[…] Simon emailed this to Jeff, who passed it along to me, with reference to this post: Jeff, Your update to this post may have apologized to Sullivan too […]
