Generally, the report makes it sound as though the Palins, especially Todd Palin, were just obsessed with Wooten, in a truly peculiar and creepy way.
Um. What?
What’s peculiar and creepy, apart from Andrew’s own obsession with Sarah Palin’s vag, is that a guy who tasered his stepson for jollies was permitted to continue to serve as a State Trooper. Maybe, apart from the threats to their family, they were a little concerned that this nutjob might pose a danger to the community. So they leaned on the Safety Commissioner, strangely enough.
Dan, does St. Andrew think of it it a vagina or as a clown car?
FTFY. The state police in Alaska are formally known as the Alaska State Troopers.
It’s hard to imagine anyplace in Alaska Wooten could have been assigned where everyone wouldn’t have known about his stepson-tasering and the rest of it, in fairly short order.
I suppose Anchorage might qualify, if one considered it to be “in” Alaska, as opposed to being within sight of it in every direction. (Old Fairbanks joke.)
Thanks, McGehee. Actually caught that before I read your comment.
Wooten is one of those people you don’t want in your family cause he’s a shit for brains what is prone to making violent threats. Domestic violence is a huge problem in Alaska. Women get the shit beat out of them and raped incessantly up there. It’s almost as bad as how gay people in West Hollywood are always beating on each other. A lot of them were wimpy in high school I think and then they get their Crunch muscles at the gym so they can have a nice picture for those websites what Andrew likes to advertise on so he can have more sex than he would have had otherwise and I think they get a little cocky. Andrew should grow up and realize that Palin is right to set expectations high for how guys should behave. Todd is definitely not part of the problem up there.
What is it called when some person, or thing, accuses another of doing the exact thing they do, and it is done in an obvious way?
Would that person be batshitty crazy?
Well, Sullivan certainly should know what “peculiar and creepy” looks like. All he needs to do is read his post from Saturday on how to embalm a human body. Here’s a short, not too gross an excerpt:
“It turns out that, when embalming a body, the worst part comes last. Though a body’s veins may be overflowing with formaldehyde, decayâ€â€or purgeâ€â€can still occur if the internal organs aren’t drained of fluid. The process for removing that fluid makes everything we’d done up to now seem like a warm bubble bath.”
The guy is clearly missing an increasing number of bricks in his chimney.

Projection.
“Would that person be batshitty crazy?”
Yes.
Sullivan is a veritable imp of the perverse.
Why is he writing about embalming. My mom taught mortuary science and I know about all that stuff. But you don’t see me writing about it in mixed company.
Drink it in now, folks. My guess is you won’t ever again see the Left giving such a warm loving embrace to cops as they’ve given to Trooper Wooten.
Other than President Obama’s Truth Brigade. But that’s a different animal altogether.
SarahW asks: “Why is he writing about embalming.”
Wild guess answer: He’s batshit crazy.
Have any of you read the report? If so, do any of you care about the rule of law or the ethics of our elected officials?
SarahW
My grandfather was a mortician and #2 daughter is in the mortuary science program, but heck if either one of them ever went/go into details.
Progressives only care about laws and ethics when it makes their political enemies look bad. Otherwise, not so much.
cranky-d
You can add racism, child abuse and murder threats to that list if the proggs stance on Tasergate is any indication.
Jeff Y, are you sure that’s not a pimp of the inverse?
ACORN is a lot not ethical or rule of law respecting and Baracky Chavez gave them like almost a million dollars and then lied about it and the media just called it an oopsy. almcq is not really concerned about the rule of law he just wants him some socialisms I think.
Almcq, the report concluded that Sarah Palin acted lawfully and in accordance with her constitutional and statutory authority in firing the guy who didn’t fire Wooten. Are you saying she should have been cool with keeping a State Trooper on the payroll, when he had a known record of tasering kids, driving under the influence, making death threats, etc.? Since when are you Lefties all about the rights of cops gone bad?
And, as a matter of fact, I *do* care greatly for the rule of law. Which is why it really bothers me that Obama is in bed with an organization that is under investigation for committing voter fraud all over the country and, indeed, gave that same organization $800,000+ to register voters just a few months ago. For the same reason, it bothers me that Obama’s reaction to ads or political speech he doesn’t like is to get the Justice Department or a “Truth Squad” of local prosecutors to “look into things.” (wink wink)
As for ethics, don’t get me started. Howzaboutta guy named Tony Rezko? Why don’t we talk about all the donations Obama’s received from overseas from unidentified donors (contrary to law)? Why don’t we chat about all the donations from chaps like “Doodad Pro” who don’t, it turns out, exist?
Seriously. Get lost with your false outrage about the rule of law and the ethics of elected officials. If you truly gave a crap about it, you wouldn’t be supporting Obama. Twerp.
Oh, Martin. I just got tipped to Andrew Sullivan’s writing style-quide. It explains
Baracky does real estate deals with felons. That’s so skanky I don’t care if it’s just how things are in Chicago. Why the fuck the Olympic Committee would even think about getting in bed with a bunch of criminals like that I couldn’t tell you.
That Mayor Daley is a scary fuck.

Damn, Sarah, that’s the entire reactionary left, is it not?

His dad was a lot scarier.
As opposed to the politically tilted, speculative and unsubstantiated “findings” that is apparently all you read?
Yes. Yes, we have.
Peculiar and creepy.
Glaad to see sully is writing about subjects within his realm of expertise now…
Nice try Puck unfortunately you and the other drones are using you GOP filter glasses again.
Your filters must have blocked the FACT that although the report says her firing of the public safety commissioner was within her rights she WAS IN VIOLATION of ethics ruled when she knowingly allowed her staff and family to pressure the guy to fire her brother in law.
It also says the allegations of abuse were unfounded and created as an excuse to have him fired.
The police review board accepted the brother in law’s version of the taser incident which is completely different from the version put out by the Palins.
FACE THE TRUTH! Sarah Palin is a joke. Her entire campaign has consisted of one lie after another. Her latest lie about how Obama tried to influence Iraqi/US negotiations has already been repudiated by the PM of Iraq. But in true Palin fashion she will repeat it over and over to her crowds of drooling redneck morons and evangelical fruitcakes.
As an Obama supporter let me be the first to aqdmit McCain Palin has got us beat. You have definately nailed down the support of moron ‘Obama is an Arab’ voters as well as the ‘Obama is the anti Christ’ Christian wackos and the KKK.
Oh, so you’re saying there was a *good* reason for tasering his stepson, making death threats, driving under the influence, beating his wife, etc.?
Thanks, Glen. You’ve just proved my point. Lefties hate cops, and they really hate bad cops — except if those cops were fired by a Republican for being bad cops. Then, they are simply the innocent victims of bad politics. If Palin had fought to keep him on the force, you and your ilk would be raking her over the coals for that. Hypocrite.
GlenR: you really should sue the school that excreted you into society.
By the way, “Glen”: there’s exactly one KKK member in the US government right now. Hint: he’s not a Republican.
glenR
The “investigator” contends she is in violation of ethics ruling. The report hasn’t been accepted by the committee nor by the legislators. They haven’t vetted it.
So it is NOT A FACT. Indeed, if you read what a lawyer has to say about this opinion hitpiece, you’d find
Why, Glen are you supporting a racist, child abuser who threatens ex-family members with death to remain an armed, sworn officer? Why do you support a confessed child abuser? Something you identify with?
“It also says the allegations of abuse were unfounded and created as an excuse to have him fired.
The police review board accepted the brother in law’s version of the taser incident which is completely different from the version put out by the Palins.”
That would be a surprise to the board, given the official letter of reprimand for the taser incident, among others.

Of course, we can’t expect Barack Obama and his shills like Glen or almcq to tell the truth; they fully deny that Wooten broke any laws or did anything wrong. They insist that Wooten was an exemplary trooper and that nothing he did was illegal or unethical. According to them, Alaska state troopers can drive while drinking, tase children, hunt illegally, and make death threats against people without it being a violation of ethics or the rule of law.
It also says the allegations of abuse were unfounded and created as an excuse to have him fired.
Even the stuff he admitted to?
The police review board accepted the brother in law’s version of the taser incident which is completely different from the version put out by the Palins.
The cops were protecting one of their own? Get outta here!
If I liked my in laws, I might walk up to someone like Wooten and say: Look you fat fuck, I’ll stuff your fucking badge up your fucking ass so far it shines through that pussy of a mustache…
Todd Palin handled it in a most civil fashion compared to how I might have.
That’s what being a nice guy gets ya though.
I did notice that the author of the report who distilled all the information into a thousand or so pages seemed to think that it was untoward of the Palin’s to say or do *anything* about a trooper who tased their nephew, drank on the job and then drove…. amongst other excesses. The report seemed to assume that the Palin’s were “unethical” if they pursued this at al, and were even more unethical if the result of their concerns was anything more than unhappy for them. In other words, the report thinks it is unethical for a sitting Governor to blow the whistle on a bad cop because he’s an in law.
Something most of America sees right through as… well…. bullshit.
Good news: Excitable Andy wants to have Obama’s baby.
Bad news: Excitable Andy is devastated because he doesn’t have the right chromosomes.
Ewwwwwww news: Excitable Andy is consulting right now with top medical specialists to see how he can “fix this problem.”
Other news: Michelle Obama has already told His Majesty, “If I catch that stalking Limey cracker anywhere near you, Mr. Hope & Change, I’ll personally give him a case of ‘Ass Apnea.’ You understand?”
Tomorrow’s “National Enquirer” headline…today!: “MICHELLE TO ANDY: STAY AWAY FROM MY BARACK AND GET YOUR OWN GODDAMN MAN!”
The day-after-tomorrow’s “National Enquirer” headline…today!: “EXCITABLE ANDY: HIS TRAGIC LAST DAYS.”
Doesn’t Alaska have laws against anyone with a DV record serving as a police officer? I believe Washington does, as a friend of mine was turned down by the police owing to an incident with her sister years earlier. If so, then taser-boy’s firing was not only justified but mandatory.
Here’s my non-sequitur train of thought:
As governor, shouldn’t Sarah Palin be concerned about a rogue cop who wears the uniform and badge of the ALASKA State Troopers? Suppose this moron tases a non-family citizen for jollies or demonstration purposes (as Wooten claims)? Or said trooper drinks (again) while on duty and in his patrol car– and then kills someone or maims them for life?
Can anyone try to imagine the dollar amount of the lawsuit the state of Alaska would face? And the money said hypothetical victim likely would win comes from…where? Oh, the state budget. The one that Sarah Palin is in charge of, right? Alternately, it would come from insurance the state holds against civil suits and the state would be responsible for premiums–either way, it’s an executive concern.
This is to say nothing of the moral culpability involved in a *governor* having intimate inside information about an unstable man employed by said governor’s state–a man with a badge and gun who has made verbal threats, physically assaulted his stepson, and been suspended without pay for alcohol violations on duty. You betcha ASS this is something a governor would and should be concerned about.
This is a bullshit political witch hunt carried out because Sarah Palin didn’t kiss the right asses–she kicked them, instead, regardless of their party affiliation. They think this will slap the little woman back into her place. WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS?
Of course, Obama’s detailed and extensive involvement with corrupt organizations attempting to perpetrate fraud on the voting system–these things aren’t important, and so you won’t be hearing about/reading them in the MSM. What’s important is Sarah Palin’s ethical breach in *not stopping* her husband from talking to people about a rogue trooper. Seriously? Seriously.
Or am I just an idiot for seeing it this way?
Don’t tase the newbie, please. Thanks. HM

The KKK is the terrorist arm of the Democratic party.
GlenR: …what firing? She attempted to relocate the guy and he resigned.
Glen R, you do happen to know the report is not that of some commission, but one guy? With a huge political animus to Palin? And that he merely guessed that her motives were colored by personal interest, and says so, while also allowing legitimate reasons for the firing existed? Not to mention that this was the worst he could come up with, and had no case at all to call the firing improper, and said so.
Andrew’s reaction might be why peeps ain’t so cool with gay adoption.
I think what we have here is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle truly creepy and peculiar.
All those loads went straight to his logic and self-awareness centers.
In the interest of fairness, I should note (at this late point) that Sullivan didn’t write that. He was quoting someone from Obsidian Wings. That’s not to say that he didn’t display an amazing lack of irony in using the quote, but he didn’t write it himself.
Now, I’m off to take a couple of showers. One for clicking through to his blog, and the other for (sort of) defending an insane, woman-hating, Obama-fellating conspiracy theorist.
Uh-huh…
And, excuse me, but how does mereuse of authority automagically become “abuse of power”?
When a Republican does it.
Duh.
echo-ing thoughts
what if the trooper had got drunk…
drove a woman home from a party….
then drove off a bridge!
