Blackwater keeps O! rollin’ [Karl]

At US News & World Report, Paul Bedard whispers that Blackwater handled Barack Obama’s security during his trip to Afghanistan and helped in Iraq:

What’s more, Obama was overheard saying: “Blackwater is getting a bad rap.”

From whom did Blackwater get a bad rap?  From the politician who said they run amok and erode the core of our military’s relationship to the nation, despite evidence showing the contractor’s actions in the highly-publicized Nisoor Square shooting incident may not be a crime at all?  From the politician who made those attacks out of one side of his mouth while admitting from the other side they would be needed to put his own Iraq plan into effect?  Perhaps those attacks were just more “inartful” and “overheated” rhetoric from the pol who sought to establish his diplomatic cred this past week.

The contractors like Blackwater and Haliburton are only evil when a Republican is in the white house. Otherwise, they perform a valuable and necessary service.

Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Wha??? I thought they sprang fully formed out of GWB’s warmongering head. You’re telling me they’ve been around during Democratic administrations? *thud*

The Delta Queen is slated to cease operations at the end of the year, due to having its exemption (for having a wooden hull) not renewed. Goodbye, paddlewheel pumpin’.

Now, it’s just not fair to use O!’s words against him.

Not only is it unfair, but I think it’s racist.

And what’s with this “BLACK”water. What kind of water does that reference? Dirty or muddy, I’m assuming. Unbelievable.

When Baracky says stuff you have to really think. Blackwater is getting a bad rap is probably his way of saying that Blackwater is just more professional than our mongrel killbots. They have rules of engagement more to Baracky’s liking too I think.

This story is blatently racist!!! Only a racist would try to use the prophet’s words against him. Senator Mccain should hold a press conference and disavow himself from this story even though he has nothing to do with it.

Dan, there is more to the story and it is nefarious. It is a classic example of Dems being under the control of the unions.

The law that the Delta Queen was exempted from was intended for seagoing vessels carrying overnight passengers. Since the Delta Queen is a riverboat and is never more than about 100 yards from shore at any time, the annual exemption was pretty much perfunctory; that is until the dems took over Congress and Daniel Inouye (D, HI) was appointed chairman of the Commerce Committee.

The operators of the Delta Queen had alaways resisted unionization despite lobbying from the Seafarers International. Under Inouye and Dem control of the committee, the exemption was not renewed forcing the Delta Queen to cease opeartions.

Having gone on a few trips on the Queen, I can tell you that we are losing part of Americana and a national treasure…all due to the craven interests of the left.

Whenever a sniveling Liberal complains about either Blackwater or Haliburton, ask them what other company they would recommend to perform the tasks laid out in the contract. You’ll hear crickets chirping. They were REVISED to “no-bid” contracts as a matter of policy, the policy being that if only one company bids on the original contract OR if only one company is actually CAPABLE of performing the tasks, the terms of the contract (The Bid one) is changed to “No-Bid” and awarded. In Haliburton’s case they were able to perform the tasks, but no other bid was recieved. In Blackwaters case they were not origionally capable of performing the tasks,(NO company in America was) but Blackwater was willing to undergo a massive recruiting effort and subsequent training effort to bring them up to par. Most of Blackwaters agents are retired Military. This is where they recruited most of their help from.

Sure, but it might take a couple of days. I have some work to catch up on that I’ve managed to so far put off w/o any repercussions…but that’s changing quickly.

  14. Dan Collins says:

Thanks, that’ll be perfect. I don’t figure that the news cycle for paddlewheelers will be so fast that it’s not pertinent anymore.
