Breaking at the Chicago Sun-Times and elsewhere:
The firebrand pastor of St. Sabina parish was effectively removed from his duties there Tuesday, according to a statement released by the Archdiocese of Chicago.
In the statement, Cardinal Francis George says he asked the Rev. Michael Pfleger, 59, to “take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties.” The statement said Pfleger “does not believe this to be the right step at this time.” “While respecting his disagreement, I have nevertheless asked him to use this opportunity to reflect on his recent statements and actions in the light of the Church’s regulations for all Catholic priests,” George said.
The recent statements in question were video clips broadcast on You Tube where Pfleger mocked Hillary Clinton for crying on the campaign trail. He suggested her tears were due to “white entitlement” leading Clinton to believe the Democratic nomination should go to her, not Barack Obama.
Perhaps he can take that time to reflect on his sickness of the soul that considers the political embarrassment of the past few days as even more painful than when his foster son Jarvis was gunned down near St. Sabina on May 30, 1998. Given his track record, it seems unlikely.
excellent decision.
A minimal decision.
Considering it took decades to finally do something about the molestation issue, this seems relatively expeditious.
Of course. When it comes to the all-important-to-the-exclusion-of-all-else matter of seating BarryO in the WH, the Church can move pretty expediently.
The suspended Father seems to have missed the whole “humility” part of Christianity.
I thought the good father Pfleger did a hella Hillary impersonation. Bravo!
The man is too big. The O-man is too strong!
O!

O pretty much describes the permanent shape of Barry’s slobbering fans’ mouths. Meta!
Kiki McClean – Hillery’s campaign manager on FOX……”She will discuss her feelings on many issues going forward. She has said that in the fall she will work as hard as she can to help put a Democrat in the White house. Beyond that I will not speculate.”
Megan tried for almost 10 minutes, but Kiki refuse to say whether Hillery would be willing to accept a VP bid.
– In the mean time, Bill was out talking to the press again, angrily ranting about “[the] way he [Obama] let his wife get Smeared, trashed, and mocked by his church, and didn’t do a damn thing about it.” If I didn’t know better, I’d get the feeling old Bill is afraid she’ll cave to the idea, something his ego would self-destruct over no doubt, and hes out busily trying to make sure the well is so throuroughly poined theres no possibility. He needm’t bother. Its already not possible.
– The press for its part, even the right wing contingent, is working overtime trying to bolster and promote a BamHill ticket idea, but as loathe as I am to make predictions, in this case, for a legion of reasons, I just don’t see that happening in this universe.
– Which leaves McCain a clear path to those crossover votes, and Independents, that all the Left talking heads are temporizing will come back to the fold in the fall. Don’t bet the roll on it fellas.
Pfleger reminds me of Cardinal Glick in Dogma, except he uses hip-hop instead of new age stylings in order to be relevant.

What’s McCain doing to lock up the cross dresser vote?
– Gift certificates to Victoria’s for everyone.
I don’t think there is much chance of it happening, but this has to have McCain’s people drooling:

BBH, did you like the end of her non-response response, about this election being about her 6 year old. That’s right, time for the Cult of the Child rhetoric because only Dhimms care for the children, except when they’re in the womb.
okfine Karl, plz splain this to me.
How does some white catholic guest priest exercise thought control on Obama when O wasn’t even there to hear the speech?

“If you get an erection lasting for more than four hours, seek immediate medical attention.”
“This is a dangerous time in America, the freest country in the world,” Pfleger says, “where you have to whisper your thoughts.”
You lunkhead. Say what you want, the government isn’t stopping you or coming after you. It’s the leader of your church, and your membership in that profession is voluntary. So quit, already. Or get your OWN church. Or change the mind of your boss. But don’t go wailing and gnashing that you can’t talk. You can, it’s just that other people can bust on you for what you say, and your boss can fire you for not doing your job. Welcome to America.
okfine Karl, plz splain this to me.
How ’bout you “splain” this to us, you jabbering idiot?
SAN ANGELO, Texas (CNN)  Parents of hundreds of children seized from a polygamist sect are free to begin picking up their kids under an order a Texas judge issued Monday.
Judge Barbara Walther told the Department of Family and Protective Services to allow parents to come get the 440 children starting at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) Monday.
Suck it, nishit.

Only if you are a Marxist puppet with dreams of being Commander in Chief.
– Clark is enough of a hard Left nutbag that he would undoubtedly give droves of moonbats wet dreams, but as a ticket it would be a choice almost as bad aa Wright, if the White, middle age veteran vote demographic means anything to you. Clark is universally loathed by the military.
– Obama is running neck and neck with McCain, where he should be as much as 25 or 30 points ahead, with the classic softening as we move into the fall. Instead hes effectively behind, and has to play catchup just to keep it close, so I’m pretty confident he’ll pick someone more moderate, almost McCain like, to try to attract the gaggle of “centrist” leaning voters of all stripes. The bad news is, he’ll have no choice but to let some voting blocks slide, the Hispanic comes to mind.
– Whether he likes it or not, hes going to have to find a way to patch things over with the Hill. If she doesn’t give him a heavy endorsement, hes probably toast, no matter what strategy he tries.
It would be funny for the Vatican to reassign him to someplace like the Yukon or Samoa or something.
Maybe he can spend his time reflecting on the mission of Mother Church, rather than thinking of himself. He is an indulgent POS. A blight on the Religious. Contrast his ego with that of the Saints. There is nothing selfless about this jack ass. I say de-frockify him. Let him join a BLT-themed church or other nonsensical “faith community.” More than ever, we need Real Priests. Not loud-mouths. I can’t see int ohis heart… but I can tell you he seems awfully off course.
It would be funny for the Vatican to reassign him to someplace like the Yukon or Samoa or something.
Aren’t there some parishes and dioceses that don’t even exist any more, other than on paper (e.g., in the erstwhile Crusader States)?
I seem to recall that the Catholic Church has used those in the past in similar situations.

I think a few years in Zimbabwe would do the good Father some good.
Isn’t this among the arguments for authority? Help me with this: who was in a position to correct The Right Rev Wright? Who is in a position to correct Rev Al? Who can correct Rev guy-down-the-street-who-decided-he-has-an-interesting-spin-on-the-gospels? Right… hmmmm. No one.
Island of Lesbos.
Well, Enoch, that works pretty well when you elect Benedict XVI, not so well when you elect Alexander VI.
Some would say that the proper response to Wright, Al, and Rev guy-down-the-street is to vote with your feet.
Just sayin’.
kelly – out of curiosity – do you happen to know how I can get there? And can I watch when I get there?
SBP, im fine with that.
It is temporary, supervised custody, not outright return to the parents.
SBP, im fine with that.
You’re a clumsy liar.
BBH, hil already said shed take the VP, just now.
the Obama campaign maintains that to be vetted she and bill have to release the names of the donors to his library and the names of who paid for his speechmaking.
they cannot do that and have hil run as VP cuz all those Saud and Niger and w/e else donors will light up like fuckin targets for RNC.
damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.
i like Jim Webb.
SBP – he was a secular “pope” – think of him as an aberration. A statistical outlier that occurred when the secularists got their tendrils into places they didn’t belong. They have been rooted out for some time now among the hierarchy. Now, we just need a good burning at the stake of socialist jebbies… a purge if you will. Maybe we can enlist Dan Brown to write up a creative manner in which an albino cleric enlists the Templars toward this end… mix in some aspect of blood/grail and the Magdelene and we could get Tom Hanks to star in it and pass it off as historical fact.
Offer him his choice of assignments: an AIDS clinic in Africa, or a Chinese diocese.
im fine with that.
the children are pretty safe now i think.
public consciousness has been elevated on FLDS institutionalized childrape practices.
well…..not here i guess. ;)
an the parenting classes may help some of the zombiemommies achieve sentience and escape.

His congregation, by vanishing. His religious peers, by counsel or rejection, dismissal. His social peers by tolerance instead of acceptance, or outright shunning. And then, there is Someone to whom he is accountable. Now or later, that’s going to count for something.
oooh
if she’s not on the ticket….then all those documents from bil’s presidency have to be released, right?
im fine with that.
You’re a clumsy liar.
SarahW – and when that DOESN’T happen? Just leave the tripe-spewing leak alone?
Obama is running neck and neck with McCain, where he should be as much as 25 or 30 points ahead
tomorrow he may be points ahead.
i’ve heard the other argument…that mccain should be 20 points ahead while the dems tore each other up.
– Yes nishi…The Left, as usual, think they’ve won one, only to be broadsided by the bus…If the Left had a single redeeming quality, I might feel some compassion…..
– Oh wait, they do….Endless amusement watching them get pounded for our enjoyment…
im fine with that.
the children are pretty safe now i think.
public consciousness has been elevated on FLDS institutionalized childrape practices.
Well, then … if it’s such a boon, then perhaps we should start hauling in inner-city baby-mommas. A couple-a weeks in CPS … consciousness raised … win/win!
i think that would be good Carin.
parenting class would be good for the babydaddies too.
im just a cyberchicklet Carin, but i don’t think CPS is liable.
the argument they will make is that they couldn’t tell whose children were who’s, so they took them all into custody.
mothers were lying, switching babies, and some of the children reported didn’t know who their fathers were, because of the communal lifestyle.
Texas law uses marriage and birth certificates to ascertain parentage.
There were not many of those in evidence.
and sure, they made a couple mistakes. 400+ kids, 125 adults? understanable i think.
and sure, they made a couple mistakes. 400+ kids, 125 adults? understanable i think.
They couldn’t tell male toddlers from teen-age girls, and you find that understandable?
w/r/t to the business of the Church moving quickly here, but slowly on molestation, I have to disagree strongly.
Pfleger has been running his mouth for years and years and years about this, that, and the other ass-hattedness. But this, like much in the way of politics and religion demonstrates that the more publicly you beclown yourself, the more public the smack down from the structure.
It bugs me no end that the demographics of the ordained are so lousy – it would do a world of good if the Vatican were able to clean house of those who forget the role of the Church and their own role within the Church.
With regard to Pfleger’s possible reassignment, I suggest a prison ministry–24/7 for six months–assigned to the White Power wing. Make sure to provide access to his YouTube clips to his new flock. And make sure that he shares a cell with Tiny, the 6’5″, 300 lb. head of the Aryan Brotherhood.
Beyond that, the Sun-Times characterization (“[t]he firebrand pastor of St. Sabina parish”) provides much too favorable a description.
Sorry, after hearing that in his third (or fourth) apology/explanation he thought the live stream wasn’t working, I can’t help wishing him ill.
But, then, he’s someone special in Obama-land.
All Pfleger has to do is confess his sins, say a few prayers, and all will be forgiven, live stream notwithstanding.
“and when that DOESN’T happen? Just leave the tripe-spewing leak alone?”
I’m not sure where you’re going there, Enoch.
God can probably handle things as he pleases. I don’t speak for God, but I think Wright never escapes that Authority. He might not do things on my timetable.
As far as calling Wrights beliefs “tripe”, and they are tripe, by all means call them tripe.
nishi,
So you are unaware that O! called Pfleger one of his spiritual advisers?
That Plfeger participated in forums on the role of spirituality in politics, which the Obama campaign had organized?
That the Obama campaign touted Pfleger’s endorsement, listing him as one of about a dozen prominent ministers who supported Obama?
That as a state legislator, Obama obtained $225,000 in grants for St. Sabina?
That Pfleger was a prominent early endorser of Obama’s successful 2004 Senate campaign, as well as his unsuccessful 2000 challenge to U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush?

Toss in trashing The Church, and even Mel Gibson couldn’t harpoon this leviathan!!!!eleventy!!!
Poor Karl, thinks the J-man is supposed to be a continuous wet dream for the wealthy and healthy while forgetting Jesus Christ stood up for the meek, walked with the trodden and mended the sick and needy.
Sounds like there’s a void in your heart that the spirit of Jesus might someday fill, KK.
But even if Jesus never comes to you and fills your heart, right now it’s Barack Obama whose reaching for his bullwhip so you better up yourself and run!
Meet the New Boss here on earth; his name is Barack Hussien Obama.
O!
See, if there’s gonna be a whip, I’d prefer the guy who’s fixin to die and can’t lift his arms over his head.
Mc!
thor apparently thinks jesus was all about crazyass race-baiting and liberation theology. Or perhaps he’s just drinking. Again.
nishit is a pathological liar …she still peddles the “switching babies, no id” line of Texas CPS that was blown out of the water.
IMO I doubt we’ll see lawsuits against the CPS while the children and parents are still in thrall to them. One doesn’t piss off the waiter when the food hasn’t left the kitchen. Sheriff dofus Doran and the CPS operated with faulty information (“don’t use the same bathroom as the FLDS! They are diseased!”) and are now closing ranks vis a vis CPS’s emotional and physical abuse of women and children at Ft Concho.
At least the adult women who were unlawfully incarcerated as minors should be filing lawsuits in the future when they can get their children out of CPS reach.
When O! quit his church I was reminded of McGovern…who stood 1000% behind Eagleton…. until it got just a tad uncomfortable then kick that sucka to the curb
Barry is the bastard offspring of McGovern and Carter.
“Barry is the bastard offspring of McGovern and Carter.”
Can I get an “amen?”
YEEEEAAAARRRGGGG!!!!!

Where did they find a sperm donor?
Whooop! Just cracked another Mich Light matter of fact. Had to reach past the bottles of Bud and grab a premium label on this wondrous night.
Let’s reflect for a moment, ten-twenty years from now, using the wayback machine, if a really bored somebody tripped on your redundant loonery here on PW, what impression do you think they’d come away with of you and your opinions?
Punkage pie is best served cold.
Thor, the fact that you believe “Mich Light” is “a premium label” says a lot about you. It says that a) you’re either kidding or b) you have really, really shitty taste.
In terms of both politics and beer.
And I guarantee you, ten-twenty years from now, we can look back on your comment and say, “Man, that Thor really had shitty taste.”
I suppose for someone with a fridge full of Bud, Mich Light (eeww) might seem premium by comparison
but hey, empty beer for a supporter of an empty suit!
Within the context of the Anheuser Busch family, it’s a sober distinction.

My late uncle worked for AB for more than 30 years (district manager)
I could never stand the stuff
The price appeals to my sensibility. I already quaffed overpriced drafts down at a Irish pub. Fridge beer comes by way of Costco where bulk price is beautiful.
Areo saved me time and effort.
“Pfleger has been running his mouth for years and years and years about this, that, and the other ass-hattedness.”
The Chicago archdiocese had (and still may have) a policy of rotating priests among dioceses. Pfleger was supposed to be rotated out of St. Sabina years ago, but threw a public fit – I recall this shameless huckster accusing the archidiocese of “racism” (against wiggers, apparently) – forcing church officials to back down.
Just part and parcel of the whole Michael Pfleger Experience. Ya know, I was unaware of Obama’s involvement with Pfleger before all this broke out. Now, I think even less of Obama – and I didn’t think that would be scientifically possible.
we need Real Priests. Not loud-mouths. I can’t see int ohis heart… but I can tell you he seems awfully off course.
Dans brother-I grew up with a Jesuit priest as one of my mentors(along with my black uncle and Marine moms’ boyfriend)…and you are exactly right. Father Joe would tell me something like (paraphrasing here) ” Boy, what we need is a stronger system. We cant’ pick ’em but we sure as hell can choose ’em” meaning that he despised the majority of priests out there…I was very young at the time, but I get that to this day.You being a RC may not agree.
