Mass-going, not Mass-going, they’ve crucifuckinfied the Obamessiah in Pennsylvania, the primitive bastards. Strangely, though, many of them expressed the sentiment (apart from Thy Will Be Done) that it would be nice if Thy Will meant that we would have the first African Pope, who might do for Africa what John Paul II had done for Eastern Europe.
Dan:
Don’t you think this actually points to the fact that Hillary appeals to white union workers–and always has–who in PA happen also to be largely Catholic?
I read somewhere that Hillary lead Obama yesterday in every income group except those over $150,000. Also, those voters that planned to vote for Obama tended to self-identify as very liberal.
I just think, like you do, that there are just too many mitigating variables to paint Catholics as casting their votes on the basis of race.
Dan – That’s Halfrican.
Nonono! The candidate for Pope was Fullfrican!
No one has done more for Africa than the Mocha Messiah!
Uh, Dan? The first African Pope was Pope Victor (about AD 190).
And, uh, the SECOND African Pope? That was Pope Miltiades (about AD 310).
The third one? Pope Gelasius (AD 492). The well kinda died up when the romans lost control of North Africa.
So, if we did have the first African Pope, that’d be cool, what with the time-traveling superpowers and all. Go, Victor!
Sheeit, why do you think he had that AIDs test there if you don’t think he was spreading some of that Mandingo Messiah Manjuice goodwill, if you know what I’m saying.
Oh, all fucking right. Don’t forget the influence of Augustine, while you’re at it. But I mean, since the Classical Era.
There haven’t been any classics since that era.
Bitter people cling to Clintons.
And African Popes, I guess.
BULLETIN: Fire up Foxnews in a new window, then start streaming Shep Smith he’s doing local cut-ins and talking crazy in between. It’s like the effete version of Ron Burgandy.
WHY, KARL, WHY!??? I can’t look away. I know that can says “Pepsi”, but, um, I don’t think so.
Those are some prodigiously short bus looking people behind Baracky there.
Oh I had the wrong stream. Now I have to watch the poor kid with the hysterectomy again.
Shep singing college fight songs now.
…and talking about Cynthia Geary on Northern Exposure.
PDA!!!
Shep talking about getting drunk with the NE cast while waiting for Chicago.
BREAKING!!! Shep must ask for permission to use the restroom.
“I’m an Ole Miss fan…been a loser all my life. The Yankees? I’m totally on the bandwagon. Guilty!”
Now he’s doing the “sit on your coat” thing from Broadcast News. Excellent!
that’s kinda strange not even hearing the other side.
You’re a bitter white person if you’re not watching the NBA playoffs on TNT.
“Horribly overpaid. No doubt about this. But no overtime.”
Now saying Tony Snow is going to be okay, he misses him.
I love Tony Snow more than beans but “hospitalized for exhaustion” just sounds sketchy.
hey thor,
thought you were celebrating.
Missoula MT: Helloooo…
The faces are slaying me.
sorry, watchin’ the local weather now. okay, waiting for the weather, watching a fluff piece about unlocking iphones.
Obama managed to get through another Major Campaign Speech without saying anything, the man is the absolute master of that. I have yet to hear him say a fucking thing this whole campaign. Did anybody catch John Cougar there at the end? It’s time:

“This is a pit… I don’t even know who works here… what do you do… he writes the ticker! Two people write the ticker!?”
Stat calculator, bitch.
Closing out with the Ole Miss baseball score and the Alabama fight song.
Eh, Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria is considered one of the most likely candidates for Pope after Benedict XVI, so the wait may not be very long. Heck, and I hope we have Benedict around for a good long while, we may have a black Pope before we have a black President.
How could they not vote for the Messiah?
The other big loser in this contest is Catholic Senator Bob Casey who promised to bring out the Catholic vote for Obama. It goes to show that Casey, a pro life politician, doesn’t have significant influence with Democrats of any religion and won his seat mainly beacuse he wasn’t Rick Santorum.
Nice job, Bob! I’ll bet Santorum will bring out the Catholic vote for McCain.
I think the combination of the “bitter” comments and Ed Rendell’s popularity with said white working class voters made the difference. Let’s not forget the Hillary absolutely needed to win this state dramamtically, especially with the kind of home state support she had in her pocket.
I think Cowboy at #1 has it exactly right. She carried the rural, working class communities by a wide margin which allowed her to offset Obama’s huge Philadelphia and suburbs advantage.
Someone from my county (Chester,) a traditionally Republican stronghold, was talking up operation Chaos on Rush. One interesting point is that all of those Republicans who cross registered now need to jump back or they will have an effect on McCain’s ability to get the maximum public funds.
All in all, the fun continues! EMBRACE TEH CHAOS!!!
The Catholic Vote is usually to be found amid the snipes.
Casey should have used a left-handed smoke-shifter.
I liked Janine Turner better, when she wasn’t, like, talking.
I’m sorry, what were we talking about?
hf. It ’cause he’s got the cancer, don’t ya know. Something I wouldn’t wish on anybody.
Back on topic.
Ya think mebbe that patronizing remark about religion and guns sent em over to Hillary’s side? Pennsylvania catholics? I bet they’re well armed.
