For Thor [Dan Collins]

I respect Gateway Pundit a lot, but I think that there’s too little context here, and that it rehearses things that we already know, though in some cases the quotations from Dreams from My Father in text and/or audio are instructive.  That is to say, some of this is liable to be meant more as confessional than as assertive; or at least I’d hope that that was the case, since he’s often recounting things he thought or felt as a younger, presumably more self-divided individual.

What does distress me, though, is how miserably ignorant and ideologically self-serving is his reading of Heart of Darkness,  which is animated by a far more open spirit than he represents.

Dan – pls build this out. I would be interested in more meat for murder.

More meat for murder? But what I really need is a couple of hands, to complete one hell of a lampstand..

  3. You’re right, Dan. The passages from Obama’s book are descriptive, not prescriptive. He’s just telling his story here, not hatin’ on whitey.

As to how much his governance would be affected by that upbringing, that’s a different matter.

He’s such a greasy racist. He’s not clean at all, Mr. Biden. Dirty racist is what he is.

Dan, you might not like what I’m about to infer… ‘course I have more than just on tape…

That would not be Gateway Pundit’s video, either. It is posted for our delectation.

If it mattered, I would buy the book so I could see the quotes in context. I don’t really need to know anymore than I already know, though. The way beyond racial animus lies in a socialist state? That’s just more of the same old crap. Seen it, done it, got the t-shirt.

I don’t think it’s a contexty thing really. It’s obvious the man has lots of baggage. Issues, really.

  13. darwins says:

    Ohnoes. More issues.

The use of such language to describe Israel’s policies has drawn vehement objection from Israel’s defenders in the United States. A photo on the pro-Palestinian website the Electronic Intifada shows Obama and his wife, Michelle, engaged in conversation at the dinner table with Said, and later listening to Said’s keynote address. Obama had taken an English class from Said as an undergraduate at Columbia University.*

Baracky is not what he pretends to be. No freaking way.

  14. Yeah, these mashups don’t really prove much, though it’s good to get the information out there and assess the whole of Obama’s statments and relations. There’s no doubt that the Illiois Senator’s got sympathies with highly suspicious folks. It’s really bothersome.

    Darwins,

come on. So he attended a lecture by Said and took an English class with him–like tens of thousands of undergrads have done over the years. Big freaking deal.

A special tribute came from Khalidi’s friend and frequent dinner companion, the young state Sen. Barack Obama. Speaking to the crowd, Obama reminisced about meals prepared by Khalidi’s wife, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking.

Good friends with Rashid Khalidi? Enough already. Do. Not. Want.

after years of hearing “racism” screamed, now we have to look at the context…….. when it’s a liberal being accused.
