Blown Coverage [Dan Collins]

Brewster-Jennings, Valerie Plame’s cover company for investigation of foreign attempts to acquire US nuclear secrets, was compromised by a State Department employee who tipped off his Pakistani contacts, according to allegations made by a Turkish language instructor with the FBI.

That would be two years before Valerie Wilson Plame was outed.

Ms Plame declined to comment, stating that she’s unable to comment on any of her CIA activities.  Unless it’s in a book.

Love to find out who that State Department employee was.

The lefties say it’s one of Patrick Fitzgerald’s star witnesses against Libby, Marc Grossman. Seriously.

  2. happyfeet says:

Sibel Edmonds mostly seems like a tool if you ask me, but it would be cool to throw a State Department official in jail. They’re tools for sure.

  3. Dan Collins says:

Thanks. It’s so hard to keep it all in my head. That’s why I don’t.

  4. JD says:

I would love to see how they explain this one away. Was Edmonds a Rove plant, sent in years ahead of time, just waiting for this one particular moment to destroy Joe/Valerie?

  5. guinsPen says:

    Nuke Foggy Bottom, from orbit.

It’s the only way to be sure…

  6. guinsPen says:

BECAUSE OF THE SCORCHED-EARTH POLICY !!!

  7. McGehee says:

At least one of the commenters at BradBlog is hoping this Grossman thing is a “smoking gun” — though against whom, I’d be hard pressed to imagine. Hillary, maybe?

Armitage spilled the beans on Val. Why not him?

Oh, because he’s not a Bushie. Duh.

  9. happyfeet says:

This Grossman is no Bushie either. I think they just hope he’s a neocon cause he’s jewish.

  10. Pablo says:

Judging by the way they planted the Clinton/Gore administration years ahead of time to roll out the totally bullshit premise for the Rethuglican War of Choice, I think anything is possible.

  11. Topsecretk9 says:

Oh, it’s gets wackier – cat fight in the comments too. Larry tries to throw cold water on Sibel’s cebtral claim about Grossman because of the massive problems it poses to the Val was outed by a guy her husband went to college with and was the person Wilson called at state to complain he was being referred to as low level – not too mention Wilson questionable consulting on behalf of Turkish interests.

  12. Pablo says:

From the Against All Enemies link:

Significantly, since the Times began this series three weeks ago, the White House has quietly moved to legalize the sale of nuclear technonlogy to Turkey in an apparent attempt to ‘Exonerate Neocon Criminals’ who have been illegally selling this technology for a decade. Congress has 90 days to block this legislation, otherwise it becomes law.

This seems to be evidence of a fundamental understanding of the legislative process. From the link
    supporting that claim:

In likely reaction to the London Times report, the Bush Administration quietly announced on January 22 that the president would like Congress to approve the sale of nuclear secrets to Turkey.

    Is AAE another Greenwald puppet?

  13. Sara says:

TSK9 can tell you that I’ve been saying for the last 3 1/2 years that the spotlight would ultimately shine on Grossman. I never thought I might actually be right. I think I’ll take a wait and see.

  14. JD says:

    ohnoes … they got topsekret’s punctuation !!!!

  15. Pablo says:

    Tsk9,

Oh, it’s gets wackier – cat fight in the comments too.

OMG, Scary Larry is in the mix? This is just going to get better and better.

UPDATE: Well, if you missed the earlier fireworks, Sibel Edmonds showed up here and launched a new attack on Larisa Alexandrovna after denying she had ever attacked Larisa by name. Unfortunately, our move to a new server coincided with this exchange and it has gone up in smoke.

Damn the bad luck! Isn’t that always the way?

  16. Ann says:

I can vouch for everything Tops and Sara have commented on here. Warning: Don’t mess with them because they come from a large and powerful family.

  17. JD says:

Once they have shown the ability to steal the punctuation from TSK9, it is clear that their pernicious influence and reach knows no bounds. Much like Kkkleo’s stupidity. Or Barry’s changeyness.

  18. MayBee says:

    ha, JD!

  19. daleyrocks says:

I didn’t think Scary Larry was allowed to put down Valerie’s water to type comments on a keyboard. MUST PROTECT NARRATIVE.

  20. Topsecretk9 says:

    JD

I know I suck at punctuation, but I’m Topsecret not “topsekret”.

  21. daleyrocks says:

    Not kraw, kraw.

  22. Topsecretk9 says:

I think he was forced and he found an out. He pretended Sibel insulted someone so he can remove and extend himself from Sibel now that he and Joe Wilson have endorsed Hillary. Wilson documented he and his wives ACT Scowcroft love and Wilson had deep Turkish interests on his portfolio, oops.

A Clinton presidency most probably helps their Sudan oil sanction busting rape via ” Jarch”.

  23. JD says:

Topsecretk9 – I was just funnin’ with ya’.

  24. drjohn says:

    Great catch.

  25. MayBee says:

    Topsecret

    I love Tops!

  26. Lukery says:

I can tell you categorically that it is Marc Grossman. And I can tell you that Sibel’s case has nothing to do with ‘partisanship’ – the case stretches back to 96, that includes Clinton’s presidency

  27. Slartibartfast says:

This will all amount to nothing, I’m afraid. A compromise of classified information does not make future divulgences (is that even a word?) of said secrets aboveboard. Only formal declassification does that.

Check out the statutes if you don’t believe me. It’s also in our signing statements.

So, even if Val were to have been burned by both Ames (not sure if I’ve got the right guy, but you all know what I’m talking about) and this State guy, if her ID was ever classified, divulging it was a crime.

  28. Dan Collins says:

Well, Slart, I don’t expect it to amount to much, but I’d like this State employee exposed.

  29. Slartibartfast says:

Me, too. Especially if she’s hawt.

Yeah, stuff like this needs light shed on it, but I don’t think it lends much to the Plame whodunit.
