En-yawn

Jonah Goldberg, speaking for those in the punditry with even a modicum of good sense, sums up the Enron affair:

The unspoken scandal of the Enron scandal is that the scandalmongers are boring us to death. That’s not to say this isn’t a big, possibly criminal, mess, but until someone can find a little more political there, I’m done with it.

Quite. I’ve been debating the Enron “issue” with a good, Bush-baiting friend of mine via email (to the tune of … oh, I don’t know — 8 emails a day?), and I find that I keep writing the same phrase (or some variation of it) over and over: “but there’s no evidentiary connection…” To this point, all the evidence available suggests that Enron’s demise is the result of financial wrongdoings. Which makes the Enron “scandal” a financial scandal, not a political one. Until evidence comes to light showing Bush administration improprieties, let’s just move on, shall we…?
