Matt Welch uses his new piece in Reason to…what, exactly? Cry poor, promote his wife’s career, and push his website…? How do I get a gig like this?

Matt’s stuff is always enjoyable, but “Censorship on the Gravy Train” appears to be a cobbled-together retread of a lot of his weblog quippery, replete with links to lots of Welchaphernalia. Funny, sure. But Bill Maher bashing?

Well, this is Reason, after all (a must-read magazine I proudly subscribe to — and in its print form no less!) — so I suppose if Matt can squeeze a payday out of ’em…well, then God bless the free market!

(Yup. Notice that even as I gently criticize Matt’s shameful self-promotion, I nevertheless give him a host o’ plugs and links. Bloggin’ at its most sincere! … And here’s a shout out to m’ boy, Ken Layne, just ’cause I can!)
