“The U.S. attack submarine Greeneville, which collided with and sank a Japanese fishing boat last year, has collided with an American warship in the northern Arabian Sea but neither ship was in danger of sinking, the Pentagon has said.
“Pentagon spokeswoman Victoria Clarke said there were no injuries in the surface collision on Monday about 40 miles (64 km) off Oman, but a fuel tank on the amphibious Navy warship Ogden was punctured and several thousand gallons (litres) of diesel fuel leaked into the sea,” Reuters reports.
Upon hearing that oil had spilled into the Arabian Sea, cartoonist-cum-scribbler Ted Rall immediately began his next column, in which he’ll “prove” that this “so-called accident” is a thinly-veiled right-wing plot to lay claim to Central Asian oil and to starve third world children (until they literally beg their hegemonic corporate masters for a McDonald’s hamburger, that is…).
