Just in time for Halloween!

The Exorcist, William Friedkin’s second masterpiece in three years (The French Connection), is now available on Blu-Ray in an extended director’s cut. Too bad I no longer have an Amazon sponsorship (thanks, Denver lawmakers!), because I highly recommend that those of you with a Blu-Ray player add this one to your home video libraries.

“Congress Can’t Repeal Economics”

But that doesn’t mean they’ll stop trying. John Stossel, RCP: When Obamacare was debated, we free-market advocates insisted that no matter what the president promised, the laws of economics cannot be repealed. Our opponents in effect answered, “Yes, we can.” Well, Obamacare has barely started taking effect, and the evidence is already rolling in. I hate to say we told them so, but … we told them so. The laws

The problem with Obama? He's too far right

Or some such. Barone: […] why are Democrats less enthusiastic [about voting in the mid-term elections]? And why has “the progressive donor base,” as Democratic consultant Jim Jordans reports, “stopped writing checks”? I don’t think it’s just because the economy remains sour or that President Obama failed to jam a public option in the health care bill. I find a more convincing explanation in an offhand phrase in a subordinate

Rapper's Delight…

…this ain’t. At the same time, though, I’m not at all bothered by the President’s taste in music — nor do I think we learn anything essential about his character by pretending that his admiration for other people’s lyrics is indicative of a flaw in his worldview: both Obama’s policy initiatives and the way he treats those he presumes to govern adequately speak to that point, after all — and

It's the [Keynesian] economy, stupid [bh]

Writing for AEI’s The American, Veronique de Rugy prepares the ground for the inevitable post-midterm election battleground: tax increases or spending cuts. Obama knows he’s done with new policy initiatives beyond his ability to craft new regulatory schemes. The next front is how to pay for the spending he lost the House and possibly the Senate to achieve. So, please read her post. But, better yet, then take the following

October fundraiser post – UPDATED [sticky – newer posts below]

For the OUTLAW in all of you — but particularly, for the broke-ass OUTLAW in me. Give. Please. For freedom. **** update the first: About halfway to freedom. On the plus side, I’ve manipulated the ligature marks to make them look like really bitchin’ tribal tattoos. So it’s not all bad. update the second: Thanks again to all those who’ve contributed. I’ll let the fundraiser go through Tuesday. Have a
