Dangerous. Anti-establishment. Edgy:
Fired University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill will return to the Boulder campus next week to begin teaching an unsanctioned course that’s being organized by his student supporters.
University officials have distanced themselves from the planned lecture series  slated to begin Tuesday night  and say that Churchill remains terminated.
The students organizing Churchill’s teachings say the series is intended for those who “missed out” on his years as an American Indian studies professor and as head of the ethnic studies department at CU.
Neither Churchill nor his student backers could be reached for comment Thursday.
“He’s a professor, he likes to teach people  so that’s what he’s doing,” said David Lane, Churchill’s attorney, who was unaware of his client’s planned lecture series.
CU officials released a statement Thursday afternoon emphasizing that any students who attend Churchill’s discussions will not receive credit and the lectures aren’t endorsed by the university or considered to be sanctioned academic coursework.
According to details posted on several Churchill-tracking blogs, the former professor’s free lecture series  expected to run this fall and next spring  begins with a session from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in Humanities room 1B80. Syllabi will be handed out to students along with a schedule of class times and locations.
Churchill’s supporters can hold the classes on campus because the university allows student groups to reserve classrooms when they are not in use.
If Churchill’s special brand of anti-American, white guilt-fueled BDS is strong enough to get college students to attend extra classes — for which they’ll receive no credit — somebody should figure out a way to hook that energy up to a turbine or something.
My vote is for Al Gore — though I suppose one of the Kennedy’s might break out his honorary degrees in climate science and lend a hand.
For the good of the earth. Which, we all know, “Native Americans” like Churchill revered to such a point that they shaped the Amazon basin in their own image.
Plus, owls!
(h/t Alice)
Owls are nature’s little Eichmann’s, I believe.
GOOGLE IT, PEOPLE!
Kennedy would likely favor this type of energy production, as it is nowhere near their compound.
Let’s see, when I was in college if I had a choice between going to non-credit non-sanctioned courses from a disgraced phony Indian, or going to quarter beers at Kam’s, there would not have been a moments hesitation. Hell, I hated going to the courses that did count, and that I was paying for.
When, oh when are they finally going to give Ward Flapping Cheeks his honorary PhD in Radical Sanctimony? ‘Cause I do so likeee when he sniffs arrogantly and proclaims teh trooth to power!
It’s bad enough having to deal withn the academically insulated who have real scholarship merits but to continue to have to read about this phoney hack teaching anyone is unsatisfying. (In an eighteen volt drill through the top of my head way.)
“…Next question?…Yes, you in the back, the rather jewish looking individual with the unconvincing theatrical beard…”
The man is a teaching GOD! And one heck of a cribbage player, from all accounts. Taught me all I know about ancient Native-American homeopathic scrofula curses, for instance.
Keep that in mind when the Rockies start scratching and grimacing.
BJ – I just smashed my 18V drill with a sledge hammer. Damn thing burned out on me trying to drill in screws through Hardi-Plank for my dormers. Nothing quite like a power tool failing when you are 40 feet off of the ground, balanced on the top step of a ladder.
This just gives me a good excuse to go to Lowe’s for new power tools. Yeah, me!
It’s disgusting that our culture has come to a point where people like Ward Churchill and Lynne Stewart are revered as courageous truthtellers, when people like these academics and this female civil rights activist are ignored, because to supporting them might risk giving ammunition to the neocons.

Free lectures??
Looks like Wardo is finally getting paid what he’s worth.
Anti-establishment
room 1B80
As a literal-minded sort, I’ve always taken working in a numbered room inside the Establishment as a sure sign that one is operating quite safely within the very narrowest bounds of said Establishment.
But Whitey’s tricky like that.
THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE SYLLABI!
Churchill-tracking blogs, no less. What’s with you wingers?

Please don’t tell John Cole. He’s already going batshit crazy over Malkin’s drive-by of the Frost’s place.
You don’t have to be employed by CU to teach there? Cool. I’m gonna drive up there some time soon and hold a seminar for co-eds on sticking it to WHITEY and the PATRIARCHY simultaneously, by ganging up on and fellating a 47 year old specimen of those two so called groups.
…student supporters? I wonder if they’re athletic?
Chutch!!
Can we get someone to tape it for us?
Let me know how that works out for you, Sticky.
I AM TO THE FAR RIGHT AS ONE COULD GET AND I DO NOT RELISH MY TAXES GOING FOR SOME POOR JANITOR HAVING TO CLEAN THE CLASSROOMS, FOLLOWING A SESSION WITH IDEAS THAT ARE ANTI-AMERICAN SUCH AS CHURCHHILL. HE IS AN ABOMANATION TO MOST OF US IN THIS COUNTRY.
merciful God

Thank you, President Bush.
Someone needs to tell ol’ Ward to take a long walk on a short pier. The man is an ass.
Pretend Native American Now Pretending To Be College Professor…
Yeah, it’s just not cute anymore, chief….
N.O’Brain – The economy did that in spite of President Bush’s economic policies and tax cuts for Paris Hilton. Just think how high the stock market would have gone if President Clinton was still around directing the greatest economy in the history of the free world? 16,000, at least.
I’m still amazed that I attended UC Boulder for the first two years of my collegiate academic life yet I still appear capable of functioning responsibly in society.
Notice I said “appear”.
The dudes from South Park were in my dorm room to by the way, Cheyenne-Arapahoe. They talked about how to truly be rebellious at CU one had to actually be square, as everyone else was a freak. True story.

JD,
CO’s was better than Kam’s!!!
(actually they are both meat markets)

What’s REALLY disgusting id JD smashing an 18v drill driver without first determining whether it was the battery or the motor. Or maybe a little JB Weld and duct tape. Disgusting.
[…] Viva la revoluçion! […]
J.D.
Where did you learn that presidents “direct” economies? Exactly what brilliant policies did Clinton use to “direct” the economy of the 90’s, which had a higher average unemployment rate (6.4%) than during the Bush years (4.7%)? Clinton was in office during the internet bubble, which was based on a lie, and that burst just as he left. The best thing that happened during the Clinton years was the election of a Republican congress, which meant gridlock government, the best kind of government. As a result, the deficit went to zero. It is now at 1.2% of GDP, lower than the average for the last 50 years, even after the trauma of 9/11, which cost us a trillion dollars.
He can buy a new drill driver for less than the cost of the JB Weld these days.
Tony – I loved CO’s and Kam’s, in all of their meat markety splendor.
Rusty & Aldo – I removed the battery first ;-) I think the burning smell and the smoke coming from the housing gave me a pretty good indication as to the source of the problem.
Steve-o – I neglected the tags. My bad.
They “‘missed out’ on his years as an American Indian studies professor.” Is he gonna be a cowboy now?
Betcha Ward Churchill doesn’t know which end of the DD the drill bit goes.
Yep. When you release the magic smoke it’s time to get another one.
Rusty – Totally dorked up a circular saw too. But, I think I can salvage it, or at least, I am trying. Having said that, I am going to have to get someone else to test it out, as I suspect it may blow up or have the blade go flying off, after I get done trying to rig it.
Who knew that a trim saw was not designed to cut cement fiber board?! Good Allah, they should put warning labels on these things, like, do not let idiots use this tool without adequate supervision. Gives me yet another good reason to purchase more power tools.
The magic smoke visited twice in one day. Ugh.
Sticky B, you have to be invited by a student. I suggest you start asking here.
Well, I was going to make one of my usual asinine comments, but I see that the regulars pretty much have Chief Whitewall Tired figured out….
All I wanna know is: If CU Boulder “University officials … say that Churchill remains terminated”, then how in the hell did he get access to Humanities Room 1B80? If “Churchill’s supporters can hold the classes on campus because the university allows student groups to reserve classrooms when they are not in use”, then could Lew Rockwell hold a “Brownshirts Are Just Lightly Toasted Whiteboys” Humanities class there?
(Sorry if that seems lame; I’ve been drinking.)
The class actually started last week, and as it happened there was a wee altercation between two Churchill goons, including CU ethnic studies instructor Ben Whitmer, and two Daily Camera guys, who were barred at the door from attending. Don’t you ginks read the Drunkablog? Possible further defugalties tonight.
– Maybe Churchill could ratchet up the rapacious bullshit meter a few more decidynes by inviting Chevez and Adinajammies as guest speakers. Hell why not go all the way and extend his invited tresspassing to a new “School” of intra-faux-white-dude-plagerists-posing-as-native-Americans studies thingy.

I appreciate the tip, but I suspect that any females belonging to that group would have way to much self esteem, not to mention character, for my plan to be effective. I will be needing a, how shall we say this, more easily persuadeable sub-pop.
[…] Rest here>> […]
Oh, I don’t know, I think it’d be fun to attend Chutch’s faux class. However, when they start passing around the, a) sign-up sheet for vest measurements, b) kool-aid, c) ammo, it might be time to excuse oneself for a trip to the mens room, “so I won’t miss any of the excitement.”
How’d we get from Ward Churchill to tools? Nevermind, I get it.
Anyway, what’s with Sears and these odball voltages? I’ve got a 16.8V drill – when the second battery dies, it’ll be cheaper to go buy their 19.something volt model than a new battery.
I used to buy only Sears tools, but I tried to buy a tool box from them and they wouldnt sell it to me unless I provided my name and address and phone number. I called their customer service 800 number and spoke with an annoying young man. I asked if that indeed was their policy, that they would refuse to sell me this tool box if I didnt want to provide them with my information and he said it was. That if I didnt like it, I should buy elsewhere. Anyone have any suggestions for tools? I have always bought craftsmen, anyone have suggestions about other brands?
Back in the ’70s my mom and dad had problems with Sears, and after that he bought Stanley tools whenever he was able.
buzz – I am trying out some of the Kobalt tools from Lowe’s, and have had nothing but good luck so far. My new Hitachi cordless drill is fantastic.
Yeesh, use one little old 18 Volt drill metaphor and the next thing you know a power tool quilting bee breaks out.
Could have been worse. Could have used a muscle car metaphor.
BJ – I am still waiting on a response from Rep. Dan Burton’s office about my request for Federal funding for the hunting and extermination of demonic midget clowns.
