When I asked Hersh who wants to bomb Iran, he said, “Ironically there is a lot of pressure coming from Democrats. Hillary Clinton, Obama, and Edwards have all said we cannot have a nuclear-armed Iran. Clearly the pressure from Democrats is a reflection of – we might as well say it – Israeli and Jewish input.” He added the obvious: “a lot of money comes to the Democratic campaigns” from Jewish contributors.
It’s the Jooooooooooos again. Besides, if Bush does it, they don’t have to.

Comment by Major John on 10/5 @ 12:19 pm #
For all their supposed pull, them thar Joooos can’t seem to get much of what Mr. Hersh says they want…
And if they have all this media control, how is it we seem to hear so awful much anti-…uh, Zionist rhetoric from the likes of brave dissenter Hersh (but not too darn much the other way…)?
Comment by BJTexs on 10/5 @ 12:23 pm #
It is one of my on going manic depressions that an idealogical hack like Sigh Hersh continues to be paid for articles.
Hasn’t he made it blatantly obvious by now?
Comment by Squid on 10/5 @ 12:39 pm #
I may as well go home for the day. After reading a dozen or so of the comments over there, I find myself incapable of coherent thought.
Thanks bunches, Collins!
Comment by JD on 10/5 @ 12:51 pm #
Is there any “reporter” out there who more blatantly just makes shit up than Hersch ? Well, Greenwald is worse. But not by much.
Comment by Chris Chittleborough on 10/5 @ 1:00 pm #
We aren’t accusing Hersh of being anti-Semitic are we? Otherwise, I don’t get it. A jewish guy comments that Dems want to bomb Iran and speculates it’s because his people, representing his ideology, might be influenced by campaign contributions? Isn’t that what we think about all politicians?
When Clarence Thomas criticizes the Civil Rights movement, we defend him because he’s black and has perspective. Yet, when a liberal Jewish guy posits that campaign contributions are swaying liberal Democrats, we say it’s off limits. Color me confused.
Comment by BJTexs on 10/5 @ 1:05 pm #
Chris: It’s not off limits. It’s just idiotic. He spews these things with no data to back it up. He’s a hack and has been one for many years now. The New Yorker just hasn’t caught on yet, which is no great surprise in their insular world.
Comment by ThomasD on 10/5 @ 1:12 pm #
Clarence Thomas criticized the civil rights movement? Linky?
Clarence Thomas has criticized the racial preference/aggrieved racialist movement.
There’s a difference.

In all fairness, certain Jews — in Israel — would most certainly be thrilled if we did the job. In fact it’s probably our turn after Osirak. But if we don’t, the Israelis will eventually take care of it — no matter how much it fuels their demonization (does that even matter anymore?). Unlike Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and most other Democrats, the Israelis are folks who understand, deeply, the meaning of the expression “existential threat.”
Comment by Joe on 10/5 @ 1:22 pm #
I don’t see why it’s necessary for Hersh to tell tales of the Zionist boogey man. The reason Hillary, Obama and Edwards are so hawkish on Iran is because they want the problem dealt with on Bush’s watch. That way they can continue to be seen about town in their tasteful Diplomat’s Only outfits while still guffawing at W’s garish warmonger plaids with matching white shoes and belt. Then, when one of them (supposedly) takes up residency in the White House in ‘09, they won’t be forced to don those same plaids and visit Ahmedinajad at the country club themselves. No need to blame the jews.
Comment by Benedick on 10/5 @ 1:32 pm #
All true, Joe, but blaming the Jews is a jaunty good time.
Comment by Jeff G. on 10/5 @ 2:23 pm #
It’s not en vogue to allow Jews into the good parties these days. Unless they behave like Sy, and do the knowing wink wink to the cognoscenti who can see behind the veil and know that Jewish money controls things. In fact, his saying it out loud — child of Abraham! — endears him to them.
In a useful idiot kinda way. Trade off? Bacon-wrapped livers and fine wine with people who know John Updike.
Comment by happyfeet on 10/5 @ 2:26 pm #
You can hear him blame the Jews for yourself – this is from Oct 2. Shockingly, the NPR interviewer doesn’t challenge his assertion there.

Israel will have a tough time getting its F-16s into and out of a medium-distance bombing run like Iran. I say we lease them the Whiteman AFB inventory for the job.
Comment by Benedick on 10/5 @ 3:18 pm #
Not too many people thought Israel could completely blind Syria’s Russian air-defense systems either. Don’t underestimate the cunning shrewdness of those wily puppet-masters.

“Hillary Clinton, Obama, and Edwards have all said we cannot have a nuclear-armed Iran.”
Well, clearly the Dem frontrunning troika is collectively unhinged to suggest such a policy. I mean, who could possibly object to a nuclear-armed Iran? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO EQUALITY IN WORLD AFFAIRS PEOPLE??? Chimpy couldn’t have LAUNCHED AN ILLEGAL WAR THAT TRAMPLES ON THE VERY FABRIC OF AMERICAN LIFE if Saddam had developed the bomb and we wouldn’t find ourselves in THE MESS THAT IS IRAQ.
So let’s democratize world politics so that Bhutan, Chad, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Marin County, and even individual world citizens who may or may not live in caves in remote corners of Waziristan can take their rightful, just, and above all EQUAL place at the world’s deterrence table.
I’m off now to a gun control rally.

Personally, I always do my best to be on the same side as the Zionists. Hey, the killed The Only Begotten Son…what makes you think they’d have mercy on you, and your Michael Mooron friends?
I’d like to be the first to officially welcome our Zionist overlords. Kosher franks anyone?

…I just clicked over to the article. That guy’s name is “Weiner”? If he was my kid, his name would be Harry. Or Flaccid.

His first name is Irving and his middle initial is C. He’s still waiting for the pizza he ordered on New Year’s Eve 1999.

I’m all for leasing out the Whiteman AFB inventory – or better yet, let the IDF and USAF share targeting data – but I think there’s a good chance that at least some of the Israeli striking power will be from these, or others like them.

I think I’m racist, because I dislike Jewish Democrats. Democrats of ALL races in fact! That’s like ‘ultra-racist’ I think.

He is right – the Iranian bombs will be designed to only kill Jews and no one else (this explains the Lobby’s insistance on ending the Iranian bomb program). This revolutioanry concept is based on Iranian research into women’s hair rays. For once women were useful to the mullahs. Though they remain nasty little tramps.
