My San Bernardino County department had our holiday party last night [Darleen Click]

For the first time, we had a uniformed LEO at the entrance.

Plus, those with concealed-carry were armed, too.

Why would we need this if this was just “work place violence” or “motives unclear”? Or, as some NYDaily *itch with the strangely appropriate name of Stasi, because one of the victims was a “hate-filled bigot who brought it upon himself and others”?

We wouldn’t. And neither would you. It’s a nice narrative to believe you aren’t a target of radical Islamism, but that’s all that it is. A nice, and bloody false, narrative.

Glad it was uneventful. In a terrorist-attack sort of way, that is.

How do the humans do? To be completely serious, Darleen, the tasty snacks and drinks at your party (and descriptions thereof) are of much greater consequence than anything this Stasi person has ever spewed. Hell, for that matter, the eventual elimination of those tasty snacks and drinks is also of greater consequence.

seeing that “The Left knows no shame” there put me in mind of Michael Ledeen’s response to John Schindler the other day, Schindler saying “This man has no shame” upon seeing Obama had shaken the hand of an Iranian gov’t functionary who had been one of the spokespersons for the Iranian US Embassy hostage-takers in Tehran in 1979:

“maybe it’s not shamelessness. Maybe he thinks it was good, we deserved it.”

Kinda fits here, does it not?

Pres. Putin has for sure enjoyed unprecedented “flexibility” in the last three years. Even from the press.

It’s ALMOST like Obama tells the press what they can report. And non of the bunch support American-Constitutional governence.

We’re up to our ass in alligators traitors, amidst a population so indoctrinated they can’t see it.

Not a social mediaite (e-media socialite?). But I am wondering if anybody’s started a fire Linda Stasi campaign? Isn’t the NYDN supposed to be a space safely free from hateful rhetoric?

“Of course not” is the answer. But hey, thanks for the reminder that all this pc hypersensitivity/”my victim card is bigger’n yours” bullshit is so much “Because shutup.”

Well, Barry can’t begin making the socialist utopian omelette as long as the bitter clingers are still clingly bitterly to their guns and their religion.

Which is why he’s perpetually doubling down on (collective) security in exchange for (personal) freedom.

I would just like to rub the nose of a certain yellow cartoon in this, once again:

That a tiny minority object to gendered pronouns, or pretend to object in the hope of seeming morally fashionable, is apparently grounds for the rest of us to be imposed upon, and possibly insulted, with a widespread and routine denial of our gender. It isn’t clear to me why un-gendering everyone is hugely preferable to the highly unlikely mis-gendering of one person, potentially, in theory.

“Di, I think your concerns about presenting as male or female in public to be overwrought. What a fraught world you live in.”

As oppose to the one unfolding right in front of our eyes, I suppose.

  18. McGehee says:

Progsharia’s gender confusion is only possible because the English language doesn’t do gender, really at all. The word “gender” is itself out of place in our language except in discussing other languages.

Languages that have rigid gender rules, and which may apply feminine gender to male things or — as German does to little girls — the neuter gender to female persons, are much less likely to play along with that bullshit.

    From Lee’s link:

“Item 6: In 2010, the Iraq election was won by a moderate secular coalition. The results, however, were set aside by the Iran-backed Maliki regime. The Obama administration supported this Iranian coup in Baghdad.”

I was in Iraq when this vote was held. The Iraqis I worked with celebrated the election results and rocket attacks on our base dropped considerably. I left before they realized how badly they were betrayed.

**** 5. Recognize white privilege for what it is. It’s essential to understand where one stands in society compared to groups not given the same advantages. Think of your everyday experiences, like accidentally cutting yourself and reaching for a bandage — many people won’t have bandages that match their skin color. Or staying in a hotel and using the shampoo provided, which is catered to your hair type. Recognize your privilege –and how your race plays a role in the systematic oppression of marginalized groups. ****

    D’ya got that, beardo?

This has me rethinking my typical concealed carry load-out. I’ve been content for quite a while with my Kahr PM40 in a pocket holster with a spare mag in a pants pocket. I’ve long considered that plenty for a citizen to deter or defend against typical criminal behavior, but it seems pretty light if facing multiple well armed adversaries. Might be time to start toting the M&P 40 with a spare mag.

At the risk of talking out of my ass:

I’m guessing from the 65-75 rounds they’re reported to have fired at the victims that they each emptied a single 40 rd mag into the room before taking off, so how likely would it be that you’d actually get a chance to get your head up and your front sight on target in similiar circumstances? I’ve read that at least one of the ARs was somehow “modified” to circumvent CAs useless ban on “high capacity” magazines. So maybe one of the shooters fired off two mags while the other shooter provided the cover fire during the mag switch?

On the other hand, if you’re confronted with a couple of yahoos firing from the hip because that’s what they do in the movies, wouldn’t the Kahr and maybe a second spare mag be enough?

Or, if it’s about not wanting to wind up dead for a lack of shooting back, maybe it’s time to switch to 9mm?

  28. Jim in KC says:

I’ve read that at least one of the ARs was somehow “modified” to circumvent CAs useless ban on “high capacity” magazines.

I think the modification you’re referring to was about removing the magazine rather than magazine capacity. CA requires a “bullet button” that has to be pressed with the end of a bullet or something similar to remove the magazine. 65-75 rounds could indicate one standard capacity (30 round) magazine changes apiece, or one shooter emptying two and the other not shooting very much. Hard to tell. I have seen some claims that at least one of the ARs was modified for full auto, but I don’t know if that’s true.

My thoughts about the Kahr are capacity and ability to hit targets at a bit of distance. As I carry it, it’s loaded with 6 rounds, and the spare mag also carries 6. It’s a surprisingly accurate little gun at reasonable distances, but with a 3″ barrel “reasonable” is pretty short and would feel even shorter against a rifle. My M&P on the other hand would have 15 rounds plus 14 in the spare mag along with a longer barrel that would extend its accurate reach a bit over the Kahr. But it’s also heavier, and I’m not sure where I’d conceal that second mag.

  29. Jim in KC says:

Hell, maybe I should carry both…

  30. bgbear says:

They could also mean that the CA 10 round magazine itself had been modified. IIRC, A ten round magazine is the same size as 20/30 round with just some extra spacers inside.

  31. Ernst Schreiber says:

I have seen some claims that at least one of the ARs was modified for full auto, but I don’t know if that’s true.

What I read is that somebody attempted to modify it unsuccessfully. I was thinking the same thing about the bullet button, but the ignorant hoplophobe of a reporterette reported something about “high capacity” magazines. I know CA bans standard (20-30) round magazines. Or at least I know you won’t be able to by an AR or Mini-14 in CA that comes with a standard capacity magazine out of the box.

IIRC, A ten round magazine is the same size as 20/30 round with just some extra spacers inside.

Taking the spacers out was industrious. A lazy terrorist would have just driven to NV or AZ and bought some real magazines.
