This trailer is giving me a bit more hope in a worthy sequel …

The prequels just about finished my hope for the franchise. However, Abrams is a self-admitted Star Wars fanboi, so I’m cautiously optimistic about this movie.

    Godspeed, Joanie.

Return of the Jedi did it for me – it wasn’t a movie, it was an extended Kenner Toys commercial.

I have enjoyed all six movies so far, but nothing will ever match the first time I saw Star Wars. The sights, the sounds…that first time the story was inconsequential. Of course now I go back and watch the original movies and I wince at some of the effects, especially early CGI. Anyone who didn’t see the movie in 1977 can never really understand the impact that movie had, it is a shame it looks so dated now.

JJ did a good job with the Star Trek reboot…I hope he makes more of those. That led me to believe he would do a good job with Star Wars. To be honest I was (and am) more worried about the Disney influence.

If Princess Leia breaks into song with birds landing on her shoulder, we’ll know.

I’m sure that would somehow be racist, McGehee.

Although the prequels were pretty uniformly bad, there were some bright spots here and there. Liam Neeson, of course. And Ewan McGregor absolutely nailed the role as young Obi Wan.

Someone mentioned the Disney-ification of Star Wars? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UgpggCueHE

At least we’ll be spared a Tom Bergeron cameo. Though, a stormtrooper dancing The Carlton wouldn’t surprise me.
