Carly Fiorina — How to handle the media [Darleen Click]

Any time one Republican does anything, the media immediately starts poking at others to “weigh in”. It is a behavior that media rarely visits upon Democrats.

Knowing it is coming is the first thing all Republican candidates should be ready for, and turning the question back on the media and their own malfeasance is required.

    Those are great clips. Thanks.

  2. bgbear says:

Time to photoshop “crazy eyes” on Carly.

  3. Wild Bull McGehee says:

    Use Hillary’s.

  4. Eingang Ausfahrt says:

I would have been more impressed if Carly had come out and called out the BS “science” behind the warming scam. Something on the order of, “Katie you ignorant slut”, followed by some facts.

  5. dicentra says:

She’s the answer to Trump’s political flakiness: she handily takes it to the MSM and to Hillary and the Dems WITHOUT BEING OFF-PUTTING. She doesn’t have anything to apologize for because she doesn’t have hoof-in-mouth disease.

And if someone demanded she did apologize, she’d tell them to pound sand.

She also has a record of taking principled stands. Trump has never actually fought for anything but his own interests.

I’m not terribly upset by Trump’s current antics: I don’t care if he’s “damaging the brand” or whatever, because it’s July 2015, not July 2016.

What does cause concern is how many of our side are as fully enthralled by Trump as Obama’s supporters were of him.

    Here’s the problem:

    1. Trump can afford to mouth off because he’s got nothing to lose. Unlike the other candidates, he’s got another high-profile life to return to.

    2. Trump is not actually “fighting” right now; he’s arguing. The only “fighting” that counts is what he takes risks to do, what he moves and shakes, and where his money goes. Thus far, he’s got NO track record being a staunch defender of Constitutional principles. None.

    3. “He knows how to get things done.” He does in the business world and the cronyism world. That’s not parallel to getting things done in the context of Beltway politics and procedural restraints (such as they are, anymore).

3a. “Knowing how to get things done” is what recommended Mussolini to the Italians and Hitler to the Germans.

3b. Can you say with surety exactly what he’ll get done from the White House? I don’t think he can, either.

    4. “He can’t be bought.” It’s true he doesn’t have donors pushing his buttons, but he does have his own business interests, all of which benefit according to government action. As it turns out, laissez faire is NOT as beneficial to business interests as cronyism is. Not by a long shot. Cronyism can give you a leg up and your competitors a smackdown.

4a. Nothing in Trump’s behavior indicates that he acts on principles higher than “what gets me ahead.”

4b. He has already profited from that abomination, Kelo, and doesn’t appear to have a problem in the world with it.

    5. Trump does not have a record of being a champion of Constitutional principles, whether in word or deed. His knowledge of the Constitution is shallow. His dedication to it is conditional.

    6. Trump likes Hillary. He hasn’t gone after her, has he?

    7. Trump is having the time of his life kicking over anthills and watching people scatter. It’s not a bad show, not at this point in the campaign. It’s also not a problem that people enjoy the show. HOWEVER, confusing Trump’s antics with fitness for office is the worst mistake a voter can make. Obama got elected on showmanship — and everyone knows it! How the hell are people allowing themselves to be taken in by another showman who’s wearing a different team jersey?

    Are people really that gullible?

    Why yes. Yes they are.

And yes, it speaks to the fecklessness of the GOP during the Oministration. BUT YOU PEOPLE ARE STILL GULLIBLE.

“How many skulls are there in Trump’s throne?”

  7. bgbear says:

There are low info voter on the right. So what? We don’t count on them like the left.

  8. parallax says:

Di, that is an excellent analysis of Trump.

But, really, we don’t expect nor necessarily want Trump to win the nomination – his value lies in stirring the pot and retaking the narrative from the MSM. No?

  9. Wild Bull McGehee says:

That depends on whether he feeds the media another narrative even worse than the first. Remember: “change” is value-neutral.

  10. […] I think it is way more than a glimmer), Hillary triangulations, and the Other Woman Darleen Click: How Carly Fiorina effectively deals with a hostile media Rush Limbaugh: The more people see Hillary, the less they like […]

  11. parallax says:

    Mexico sending refuse – check
    McCain’s an asshole – check
No more fed funding to sanctuary cities- check
    Iran deal sucks – check

So far his change of narrative seems OK.

  12. Wild Bull McGehee says:

So far. Remember, Trump isn’t a fool — he only plays one on TV. And his only demonstrated allegiance is to his own bottom line.

  13. parallax says:

    Agreed.

I am, however, currently enjoying the show.

Like I said, I’m not bothered by his ant-hill kicking.

But caller after caller to the talk-show programs earnestly and desperately wants Trump in the White House. They think the spectacle is as good as substance, that he really will get things done and that he’s incorruptible.

    And they’re impervious to the host’s observations that Trump’s functionally a Hillary-lovin’, Kelo-supportin’, cronyism-diggin’ Democrat.

He’s running on the GOP ticket because he figures R is up next and he doesn’t want to run against Hillary.

He’ll drop out soon enough, but only when he figures he’s milked it for all it’s worth. God help us if he’s still at it a year from now.

  15. LBascom says:

I think it’s cute if people say Trump will “damage the brand”. It’s kinda like worrying about a fart at a sewer plant.

being king maker is alot fun. get what you want and don't have to do the job.

  17. LBascom says:

I find it perplexing that Trump is causing such consternation on the right. Hell, at this point in post constitutional America, Trump might be the antidote for all I know. I do know he’s 3rd from last in my preference and it’s way too early to lose your shit over anything anyone said about the Maveric. That so many did I find revealing and causes me to wonder if Trump ain’t one of them blessings in disguise thingers that bring a spot of enjoyment and maybe even a laugh that makes learning so fun.

    Greetings:

Not to argue with “dicentra” (@ July 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm) but as much as Ms. Fiorina impresses, my current concern about her candidacy has to do with her ability to connect with and/or sway the now dreaded “low-information” voters on whom our Democratic brothers and sisters and whatevers seem to have a lock.

Mr. Trump may not have as much difficulty in that arena.

  19. newrouter says:

    > “low-information” voters on whom our Democratic brothers and sisters and whatevers seem to have a lock <

that herd gets bored easily. voting for the "1st sumthing" has diminishing returns.

  20. palaeomerus says:

At this point Trump could raise money to NOT run 3rd party and walk away with 250 million easy.

Trump Not Interested in Third-Party Run

Dana Loesch reported on her blog Tuesday that 2016 presidential contender Donald Trump is not interested in running on a third-party ticket.

According to Loesch, Trump said in a recent interview, ”I will only ever run as a Republican.”

  23. That Trump, he’s such a card – IYKWIMAITYD.

  24. Wild Bull McGehee says:

I think it’s cute if people say Trump will “damage the brand”. It’s kinda like worrying about a fart at a sewer plant.

Good thing I wasn’t sipping coffee when I read that. My monitor is safe, but my keyboard isn’t.

  25. Ernst Schreiber says:

Trump Not Interested in Third-Party Run

Well now. That was “yesterday’s news,” as the Clintons are wont to say.

Confirmed official from Trump camp on 3rd party: “I am running as a Republican but if I am not treated right then I may run third-party.”

    Expiration date: today.

Yeah, he’s totally not like anybody we’ve learned not to trust.
